hey y'all! may's challenge is up and running! i hope you all decide to participate, i would love to see your beautiful art/writing, and i'm curious to see what changes you would make! stay safe ♥



MAY CHALLENGE
Sometimes, movies and comics don't always go the way that we prefer. With the current events in light, we have decided to make this month's challenge a scene from a book or a movie that you alter to go your way! There are a few conditions to this though:

ENTRY MUST INCLUDE:
- a scene from a movie/comic of your choosing
- your alteration can either be drawn, described through writing, or both
- your drawing can be on paper or digitally drawn! it's okay as long we can see it!
- if you're writing up an entry, give us plenty of detail! i'm not putting a limit on how much you should write - quality, not quantity!

- your entry can be uploaded here or on a designated channel on our discord OR you can dm me with it either here or on discord. make sure the form is filled out and all rules are followed, and you'll be in the running.

NOTES:
- i encourage you to express your creativity - but keep cs rules regarding art and writing in mind! (this means no nsfw, gore, etc..!)
- refer to the general art rules and these may be roleplay rules, but they are still good examples of what is not allowed
- if your entry is found violating any of these rules, the judges and i will have to disqualify you from the month's competition
- all entries will be uploaded onto this google doc, to make judging easier and so you guys can look at all the entries as well. ^^
- deadline is may 30th, and results will be out on may 31st!

first prize is two rare pets of your choice from my collection. second prize is one uncommon and one rare pet of your choice! third prize entails two uncommons and one common pet that you fancy! of course, certain rules apply to this as well, but i can detail that later!

You guys ever think about how much the main characters developed over the series?
I mean, Tony didn’t change that much, but a lot of them were quite different in The Avengers than they were in Endgame.



Tony didn't change that much? He went from being self-centred and only caring about his own good to putting his own happiness at risk after he finally got it for the first time ever. His choices were once irresponsible, then carefully thought through, he matured and even took responsibility for Peter Parker, caring about him, wanting to make him a part of the team but keep him safe at the same time, feeling like it would be his fault if anything happens to the boy. And finally, he sacrifices himself to create a better, peaceful and safe world for his daughter and wife - not for himself. His character development - in my opinion - was one of the best.

I just hate Tony I guess haha.

Being real here, you’re right, but I dunno if he changed that much. He couldn’t just suck it up and get along with Dr. Strange and the Guardians in Infinity War, like a giant child. I see his later self-sacrificing impulses as weakness rather than strength, but that’s more of a personal opinion(I think he was prepared to die because he believed he didn’t deserve a nice life). He wasn’t a good mentor to Peter. Not really. I think he felt bad about it, but really? I think he constantly doubted himself when he was helping Peter become a better Spider-Man. I think he regretted it. (I also dislike this take on Pete to some degree so take all this with a grain of salt) He obviously also saw Spider-Man as a potential heir, which I hate. But mainly? Helping Pete was just another impulsive thing he did. He recruited Spider-Man because he felt he needed manpower. Then he tried to control him, which backfired, and in the end he just had to let Spider-Man be Spider-Man. So I guess he was a good mentor in the end.

I really don’t like what they did in Homecoming 2 where they made it seem like Peter was his own person but kept coming back to him being like Tony. Make up your mind!

this was kind of a shower thought but i was wondering what you guys thought of this -
would you rather have a major character re-casted, or put into hibernation?

depends entirely on the character to me, if it was someone like tony who the entire franchise basically cruches on (rdj is just like the face of the avengers lets just be honest he's great) then hibernation, but I wouldn't mind recasting someone like say hawkeye. I feel like they could have gone a whole different route with his character based off of the comics alone. There's just a lot to be desired when it comes to clint, as he's one of my favorite characters in the comics. It just depends entirely on the character i think.

I feel like if they were to say recast loki, peter parker or even bucky (as those have been huge fan-favs besides the main avengers) that the fandom might get a bit peeved? again this is just based off of the responses I saw personally in the theater following loki's demise in infinity war, and the reactions everyone had to peter parker returning through the portal at the end of endgame. seemingly innocuous and just explanatory scenes (referencing here peter's return) had huge amounts of cheering and applause.

I feel like if they were to recast characters such as tony, nat, cap (excluding his natural ark, where the cap mantel gets passed down), thor or even bruce (again) they might receive backlash, especially because these characters have functioned as crutches for a lot of people. People have emotional connections to these characters so to re-slap a face on top of such a successful franchise might not work out, and might come off as simply milking the franchise for more money. The reason recasting bruce worked is because there had only been one movie, and that movie i have yet to see so i cannot judge it, mostly because i cannot find it anywhere but i've heard it isn't the best movie...

the point is when i hear the words thor, i immediately picture chris hemsworth. the same goes with chris evans, my parents and siblings see him in anything other than an avengers movie and immediately scream "hey its captain america." these people are associated with the characters they play, and with such a huge franchise I think it'd be better worth just sticking them into hibernation and moving on (as there are a lot more characters than just the main avengers in the mcu) than to continue under a different face. It might confuse people, but in general i think it'd just make people upset and wish they had put them into hibernation.

Like Ethium said it would depend on which character they decided to re-cast. In my opinion, none of the main six could ever be re-casted. They're just too iconic and I don't think it would work very well. Plus, I'm positive fans of the "old" iterations of the Avengers would probably be upset, myself included. Now, if Marvel were to, let's say, re-cast Captain Marvel I would probably be happy with that decision. I guess that depends on if you think that Captain Marvel is a major character, which I would argue that she is considering she has a stand-alone movie. And seeing as Marvel has already re-casted a major character that only got one movie, i.e Bruce, I feel like it would work even if we'd have to wait several more years.

Who else would love to see a marvel show judt about the daily life of the avengers? No fighting no action just the avengers doing mundane things like spoiling peter or doing stupid ticktok challenges

@ethium, i agree with you - i think it's hard to recast a character who's already made such a huge impact (all of them do, but rdj is one of the biggest faces of the mcu). yeah, i can see where you're coming from! it's also up to the opinion of the fan, i personally liked edward norton's hulk but he ended up getting blacklisted.

oh definitely, if they were to recast loki i would be really.. mad i suppose? and i'm not even going to talk about peter, because fans got really ruffled when that disney sony split occurred. yeah, a lot of the actors have been around for a majority of the films, it would be difficult to correctly recast a character when they're already imprinted perfectly in a fan's mind. there certainly are certain characters that have just stapled themselves to everything like peter and cap that just have a place in everyone's heart.

@chip, welcome! good to have you here! mhm, yep! that's completely right, it depends on the character and the person.

@mjolnir, yeah! i agree, it's easier to recast characters that don't have many appearances, or still in the early folds of the mcu. it would cause backlash to recast someone like ruffalo now, since he's made so many appearances throughout the mcu. you're making perfect sense, i think hibernation is my choice at this point. just like chip said, i would be okay if they recast captain marvel, she hasn't really made that big of a "slam" like characters like bucky or peter have made.
