I agree with this.
If you are trying out for a
free character, it should be more about the users connection/character development. Otherwise, a lot of users will spent a lot of time and money/points for art of a character that they wont get.
I think of it this way:
I am practically buying the character by spending money/points on this art, but not actually owning it in any way, shape, or form if i don't win.
Now,
MAKING your own tryout art, or contests that strictly say that
you have to make the art is a different story. And i feel that those types should still be more based on development/connection more than art quality/quantity. Not all of us are Picasso >.>
