I haven't posted on here in a while ^^

I have a hard time finding synonyms. Every. Single. Time. I can never find a good one to describe it as I want.
Looking for all 2010 staff litter dogs. Will possibly overpay.

Okay, so something I just have to ask -

you know how you're at a point in your writing where it's not a block, but you don't want to repeat a word twice or three times but you can't for the life of you find a synonym?

Synonyms love taunting me with that. I was just wondering if others had similar experiences.

Yes yes yes. Also, sometimes you just know a word exists that describes exactly what you mean, but you can't for the life of you remember what it is.

And then those days where you just keep choosing the wrong words. Diverge instead of defer, visor instead of advisor. O.O That's me today. ><

Any particular word bugging you right now?

THIS.

I have a few words bugging me right now, but I can't remember what they are (you know how you know a word, but then you're like 'but what is the actual word?' Yeah, I keep thinking that a lot lately.>.<) so I can't tell you what words they are.XD

Yay!
Now that I'm accepted, I'd love if I could receive critique on the story I'm writing.
I'm still editing the first two chapters, as I've decided that the main character will not be mute.

Also, I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on love triangles.
I know they're often portrayed as the result of poor writing, but I'd like to think they can be done well.

I'm always interested in love triangles that never resolve. I've been wanting to do something with a boy falling for a boy who is in a relationship with a girl, but the boy is straight so there's really no chance at all.

If done right, I think a love triangle can be pretty successful ^^ But the problem is that they're so over-used, that they sometimes gets tedious to read. Also, if the love triangle is the main focus and plot - *cough twilight* - then I think it comes off as rather superficial, and poorly thought out. XD

Yeah, I agree! Tragic love triangles between two people that are in love, and one who will never be accepted, are definitely the best to read/write ^^

I disagree, actually. Love triangles can very well be the main focus of the plot. Twilight didn't exactly do very good job with it because Bella switched almost every book and it made her look like a floozy. I think love triangle plots work especially well with characters who are older teen - young adult. Old high school or college-aged.

Hmm, well I do see your point. But personally I believe that if romance is the main focus in any story/roleplay - regardless of it being a love triangle or not, then it is not very deep. The best books I've read always have romance as a side-plot, and not the main focus.

Think about it, though - what else is there when you're writing a realistic high school plot line? Not anything pertaining to fantasy, but strictly just about high school. There's not really much else other than romance. Romance and personal growth. That's probably where I'd throw in a love triangle-focused plot, where it would work best.

The very best (and deepest) story I have ever read had love as the main theme :] So I disagree completely with this.
It's not a published story, though. But I never believed that published stories must be better than unpublished ones, no matter what. *shrugs*

I must admit that I hate love triangles *cough* I just can't stand them any more. They make me roll my eyes so intensely they hurt xD And the couple that forms in the end is always the couple I did NOT root for. Meh.

EDIT:
@person who called me awesome (I hope you did mean me, otherwise it's really embarrassing xD)
Thanks for that! I'm actually still a bit embarrassed, haha *just can't take praise any normal way* xD
I never considered my opinion especially awesome, to be honest. It was always just my opinion, and I DID have to learn that others have different opinions the hard way *cough*
Feel free to talk to me, though, I'm usually nice. I don't bite, I promise! xD

Plots that solely revolve around realistic high school student's lives generally would not have very deep meaning, and probably wouldn't be very original... But yeah, in types of stories like that, romance probably could be the main focus and it would be fine ^^

@Rolly-chan: There are some amazing novels that I have read that focus on romance I admit - Pride & Prejudice, Jane Heir, Wuthering Heights - and they are amazing. But personally, I find that the books I like the best are ones where romance is only on the side, and not the main idea. They have more meaning, somehow.

That's just me, though! I know others have different opinions, and I respect that. In fact, when people disagree with me I find it's great, because I can hear someone else's perspective on the matter ^^
