^The game looks really cool Melon!
I wanted to pop on here since I’m not on discord and ask if anyone was up to discussing lore together? Preferably over PMs here. I would like someone to chat with and help bounce ideas of off. And also to help out with someone with their lore

@bonlesta chandra looks so pretty in asimot's artstyle!! i really love the effect asimot's brush has, like the lineart feels thick but soft and whimsical? 😭
anyways, getting art of your character is always something soo special, i got art from my favorite artists years ago and still remember those times with so much warmth, so i hope you can get to savor this feeling for a long time too <3
hello everypony, i got my first fable thanks to bezel WOOOO
>_<)b🎉✨

this is shuò!! im reusing most of the lore i wrote for him in my tryout form for #200, with changes in regard to his future. he gets to stay god emperor bc i want to spend more time developing his empire, and making him more connected to his empire and people (^_^
—
anyways, i was answering the first questionnaire made by leopia, and got inspired to ask some more questions!! these are partially motivated by my desire to have more reading material for everyone's fables orz
feel free to answer however many and what questions you like!
1-8 are general questions for the community, 9-19 are more about your world/lore, and 20-30 are for character development ^^
✧✧ Questionnaire 2 ✧✧
- Now that the Summer Solace nursery opened, which nursery has been your favorite? Which reiteration are you looking forward to most next?
- Have you found any new favorite fables in the time since the last questionnaire?
- Do you think there are any similarities amongst your favorite fables, such as shared traits, colors, themes, or stories?
- What kinds of fable prompts and/or design inspirations do you want to see next, or even repeated? (feel free to include pictures)
- What would you like to see for the species' first anniversary?
- Do you have any favorite lore prompts?
- Did you accomplish any of the plans you wrote about in the last questionnaire?
- Any updates on your fables, plans for fables, MYOs, new art, etc. that you want to share?
- Do you have any guiding idea(s) or inspiration(s) for your fable lore? (like the abstract idea of gods, or inspiration from other media or your interests)
- What kinds of groups exist in your fable lore? (guilds, herds, nobility, opposing political factions, etc.)
- What time period does your fable world exist in?
- What kind of technology is accessible to your fables?
- What architecture, landscapes, monuments, ruins, etc. decorate your fable world?
- What kind of governments control your lands? How involved are they? Do they have regulations on magic usage?
- How long-lived are your fable(s)? Can fables obtain immortality in your world? (follow-up q: do fables have any persisting effects after death?)
- Are there any common forms of ailments or deaths in your fables' world?
- What kind of taboos haunt your fables' world? (example: BlueEyedKite's lore forbidding blood magic)
- Does your world have an origin story? Does its in-world depiction differ from the actual lore?
- What other kinds of creatures do fables interact with and/or live amongst in your world?
- How do others in your fable world perceive your fable(s)?
- Do you have any symbols, motifs, or even emojis that you associate with your fable(s)?
- What does your fable(s) consider most precious, materially and/or ideologically?
- What sizes does your fable(s) come in? (feel free to include heights for human form too)
- Has your fable(s) encountered any life-changing events? How did your fable(s) react to them?
- What does your fable(s) look at their lowest and/or best?
- What kind of figure or goal guides your fable(s)?
- Does your fable(s) have any kind of work or specialty? (being an heir to an herd, having a special talent for metalwork, etc.)
- How does your fable(s) impact and/or interact with the world around them? (feel free to interpret this however way you want)
- Does your fable(s) have any connections to their local government? If not, are they loyal to any specific group(s)?
- What is your fable(s)' most defining relationship? (one per fable, preferably [evil laugh])
here's the code for anyone who wants to copy and paste with formatting! <3

and, my answers for leopia's questionnaire bc i spent a couple days writing these orz
- Code: Select all

ruse's questionnaire 1 answers ✧✧

When did you first join the Fables [strike]cult[/strike] community?
i think i first got interested in them in december 2024 or january of this year! not sure of the specific time, but i know i was already invested when i entered for #100 LOL

Introduce us to your very first fable!
yesssss i've been wanting to answer this questionnaire for months, but i felt like i wasnt qualified, even tho i couldve just answered w a concept for this q.. my first instinct is to develop concepts for certain fables, instead of creating a concept first orz
but now i have [strike]SHUP[/strike] SHUÒ!!

How many fables have you collected?
just shuò... (i-dle voice: just me, i-dle..). here's his storage!

Do you prefer depicting your fables in humanized form, feral/traditional form, or a mix of both?
for rn, human form, bc that's shuò's preference. but my guilty pleasure is imagining him as a centaur <3
in the mirror world (which is basically where strictly the magical beings such as fables can live, differing from shuò's empire where mostly humans reside), i think fables prefer to be their true selves.

What are some of your favorite types of fable designs (natural, simple or complex, fantastical, picturesque, etc)?
a mix of natural, picturesque, and fantastical!! i like when u can tell theres different inspirations, but theyre all mixed seamlessly. i like simple and/or subtle designs too, like shuò's (<3), or the og kirin base fable, beithir!!
but i also like when the design really leans into one inspiration! like flannagáin, designed by bezel and owned by alphanea. or b. designed by saltybirb and owned by ylesia.

You probably have more, but share only three of your favorite fables owned by other players:
gonna exclude my friend's fables bc i already gush to her about them (>_<

i adore song&storm's yuriko... i really love her kintsugi design and story. the story i like so much because i can see it happening in our history (the diplomat being the subject of positive and negative interest), yet the incorporation of yuriko's porcelain design/constitution in this story impressed me so much more. i think about it frequently..

CIRICE!!! love the moons in her hair, the delicate jewelry she wears, the multifaceted shine of her hair, etc. etc.... and her personality is interesting to me, because i can see her as the type of fable who draws people in with her beauty and mystery when she's not doing anything in particular. it's a personality i think is hard to pull off in fiction, so i admire bezel's usage of storytelling and visual detail to give the right nuance to cirice's personality. i also love cirice's type of magic, unintentionally pulling the world along with her.. she does the same thing with me.. but something im curious about is, since ramiel and cirice belong to the same herd, i wonder if they have any kind of relation w each other orz

and i love wind song's nui!!! tbh a lot of my love is motivated by saltybirb's design, but i gotta say that wind song's elegant moodboard set the tone so well for nui's design too!! love how nui's design flows with and without accessories orz

honorary mention to melonbread's liujin, vera, and yue chen. one of you three would be here if i didn't glaze melonbread and her fables so much in this questionnaire already LOL

Share an idea/scene/story concept you want to work on for your fable(s) but haven’t started yet:
something i actually want to write is the direct continuation of where shuò's form left off, because those years are formative to his current outlook. if u look around shuò's storage or lore prompts, you'll probably see pieces of it already, but i have more misery planned orz

Do you have a favorite fable couple or pairing? Share your fable OTP!
do yue chen and liujin count omg </3
something i really like about them is that they're formative to each other's characters as childhood best friends, that they'll always like, innately be connected through that thread. and that thread became thicker because they're the only ones who know and understand what happened to the other!! (the duel art, bro...)
also the parallel of them each being fused with another being is sooo cool.. i love that yue chen is the one who has to deal with the worse version because they have a dragon inside of them who is content to let yue chen be in control except for extreme circumstances?? and don't forget their father successfully plotting to assassinate yue chen to secure a legendary legacy for the clan.. and then yue chen coming back alive and learning everyone except liujin is dead??? yet yue chen is the one who's dealing with the whole situation better out of them and liujin.. these two are so funny <3

Share your favorite *artist entry* fable design (can be made by you or another player!):
i was thinking about referencing another fable for this question, but the hold yuriko has on me is crazy bc i immediately wanted to bring her again for this q LOL
but i like kaisisles' "ghost in the cemetery" artist entry too!! what can i say.. i like handsome men... the day he becomes real, i will be stalking the lore prompts thread for his stories and art orz
i also like leopia's fourth artist entry (diluvian)! i like how they interpreted the shine of jade as markings, and made flowery, connecting markings throughout the design. when u look closely at jade, you can see how intricate and connected the texture is and how they make a kind of design, so leopia's connecting designs remind me of that. (also side note: i didnt know there was another jade fable when i was working in the #200 competition, so im sorry for stealing ur shine, mr. diluvian orz)

What has been your favorite nursery - Autumn Haunting, Winterspell, or Spring Reverie? Why?
hm.. i like spring reverie the best, which is surprising to me because i usually am indifferent to fairy aesthetics. but fairy aesthetics fit fables so well..
i also like summer solace, the new bases are really nice to look at, and i like that they're based on actual sea creatures and kinda remind me of seahorses. i like how bezel especially mixes the different bases w each other, like how they designed #412. also the watery designs of the summer solace fables are really cool! saltybirb's recent design for #396 is cool to me because it has an earthy feeling bc of the colors, but the leafy base makes it feel fresh and summery.

Share a few of your favorite fable traits (ears, tails, wings, etc):
i like all antlers, all branch horns, the kirin bases, large folded wings, whip tail, bloom horns,,. actually i think i just like all horns orz

What has been one of your favorite past adopt prompts? (locate the lost cats, two truths one lie, etc)
maybe im a simpleton, but i really like the milestone prompts LOL. i like the fact they have a slight skeleton prompt but are largely based on everyone's creativity and passion. bc the guidelines are looser here than in other prompts, the prompt and word limits can seem actually restrictive, but i like working around them. does that make sense....
for #200, i felt stuck on the "before" part of the prompt bc i LOVED the initial stone design, but i imagined "what if the fable was already stone before?" and then worked from there, specifically the line "What many do not know is that the earth too has heart ... cutting into a living body."
my most favorite prompt i participated in is #200 (which may be obvious already, bc i mentioned it so much in this questionnaire LOL), because i enjoyed that our fables' stories impacted the visual design of the fable. LIKE!! have u seen yue chen!! how all the little notes in their design reflect their story..

Show us one of your favorite adopt entries you made or wrote for an adopt that you didn’t win:
technically, i didnt win #200, so i really like my writing from there!! i like the cinematic feeling i created there a lot, as well the minuscule layers i put into it. i also like my form for #100, bc it's a comforting read to me, and bc one reason i wrote it to comfort myself when i was having a hard time.

Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature that you’ve made of your fable(s):
besides my form for #200, i like this lore prompt i wrote for!
and this even recent lore prompt. i like it bc i was abt to go sleep, then decided to check who won the semi-customs for the first august lore prompt, and then got curious about what the next lore prompt would be. thinking about the new prompt, i was like "what if the ring of ardor that i was originally gonna to leave as standalone had a deeper meaning as the ghost of an actual relic LOL." so i was trying to sleep, but got haunted by this idea of the ring of ardor being shuò's engagement ring from his first marriage.. so i wrote half of that lore prompt on my phone at 1am, and then finished it when i woke up. i think the story turned out well + the connection made sense, but maybe it only makes sense to me, bc i spin shuò in my head on an hourly basis

Share one of your favorite pieces of art or literature made by another player of their fable(s):
melonbread's form for #200!!! im so obsessed with the atmosphere of her writing here, the slight unease contrasted by yue chen's bright, pure energy.. and the parallel of the bug pinning and yue chen being pinned </3
for art, i revisit bezel's "sketch" of cirice. sel kaiba(?) as the focus of the background... cirice looking angelic but it's only her backside...
and i like meekins12345's lore waiver for their fable levi, bc i really enjoy stories about dream meetings. i also like how they envisioned magic users and magic professors, limited in their powers and roles. it's a small detail in the lore waiver, but i like it a lot because it gives the worldbuilding depth.
ALSO... the entirety of faerendell is sooo intriguing to me. sibling relationships having some similarities bc of how fables are born, the split between magical power between siblings (hi sirëya and netyissë), living things other than fables being long phased out of existence apparently (HELP??). and i especially love alouette's story, especially the part about how she used to be well rounded, but the split had ruined that. its really sooo cool to me that melui's drive/enthusiasm became pent-up energy because aella took the ability to focus and be calm LOL.
for lore prompts, i enjoyed snowflakette's herd a——'s mythology! i like when gods' feuds affect the landscape a lot (>_< and this is funny in contrast to herd a——'s current trend of chasing financial success LOL.
and blueeyedkite's "expressions of love" lore prompt goes crazyyyy.. i love the combo of the payoff of these two admitting their feelings for each other and the threat of a shade. and ofc the dialogue... "i am your shadow in idle hours." "but, you must know, with so much time spent in your company, how could you not always be on my mind?"
and lastly, i love butter dragon's writing for elegy in their storage thread! particularly the part about the mirrors, because of how butter dragon demonstrates elegy's reflective ability with its benefits and flaws. im awed by the entire storage though, so much beautiful writing with a consistent theme!! i also like how domains are presented, as lofty ideals that tend to isolate the fable associated w them. also everything about winter and saif omggggg (T_T
(im always gonna ignore "one of" and write about multiple things, sorry LOL)

Does your fable have a theme song/character playlist or another piece of media that reminds you of them?
shuo has a few songs that remind me of him, and i want to formally make him a playlist one day. but the song that inspired him most is "NHẤT BÁI THIÊN ĐỊA," which is a song about a daughter who is sold to a rich man for marriage, but she feels deeply frustrated about her lack of freedom and her family's wishes for her. fun fact, this song was stuck in my head for weeks while i was brainstorming for shuò. there was one time i was going to temple, but i looped this song for the hour long ride. i was deeply inspired by the restrained anger LOL
and there's other media also remind me of him.. genshin impact bc of citlali's eyelashes, cookie run: kingdom bc of shuò's similarities w mystic flour cookie. (as u can tell, im a gacha gamer)
the book the song of everlasting sorrow also reminds me of shuò, because i wanted to incorporate the book into my form for #200, but i reined myself in. i did use a quote from the book for shuò's storage page though, so whenever i think abt the book (which is often orz), i remember shuò <3
the main character, wang qiyao, is such an interesting character to me, bc she's resilient but vulnerable, independent but lonely, and beautiful but ordinary. she has a lot of contrasting elements like that, which inspires my portrayal of shuò. i think shuò is contradictory in a lot of ways that may seem confusing, but i like him that way bc i think it seems human orz

What’s one of your favorite things about the fables species and/or community?
i like the amount of creativity present in the community!!! i think a lot of ppl already noted that as something they enjoy too, and my reasons are similar to theirs. i was in another closed species community before, but i stopped enjoying it when my friends from that cs and i drifted apart. so i was hesitant to join fables, but fables' official lore intrigues me a lot. it rocks that i can just participate in lore prompts and leave LOL
i also love the name choice so much.. the word "fables" give a mystical vibe, and introduces the idea that fables are a little otherworldly. they can just be magical hoofed animals, or they can be fables in the sense stories are written about them (which i incorporated into my own lore!!). i enjoy reading, so i read a lot of people's fable storages and stories. shoutout to butter dragon, melonbread, bezel, wind song, kyeza, knickknacks, feverrr, .literal.swag., and ethium for having delicious lore/storages omggg... also i havent read kite's lore in detail yet, but i'll get there!!
the creativity the fable community has and inspires even brought my friend into the community with me!! i'm really happy for that, because her work sometimes eats at her, so her having this creative outlet is meaningful to me as her friend <3
i also really enjoy that there's so many ways to get fables: making/commissioning a myo, winning an adopt, redeeming a non-owner semi-custom at the nursery, redeeming ticket customs, writing lore to pay off a myo, signing up for single-parent or two-parent breeding at the nursery, winning a premade fable from lore prompts, and winning a semi-custom from lore prompts. and i enjoy that theres ways to participate in the community as a non-owner, like entering lore prompts (i did this, but i waited until there was a lore prompt i liked orz)
related to that last point, i really admire bezel's direction for fables as a closed species. they put a lot of time, effort, art, and passion into the community, and the community that bezel attracted gives that back to them.
and i like the amount of traits fables have, it warmly reminds me of flight rising. i also like the detail that the examples posted for each trait make the specific trait really obvious.. and how artists mix and combine traits together... and how there's a trait viewer.. and how someone made a tier list on the tier list website for fables LOL

Do you have any big fable goals or aspirations that you’ve set (or already accomplished)?
my main thing was getting a fable im obsessed with, which i did accomplish bc i got shuò from bezel! i like shuò so much that i printed out a picture of his transparent ref </3 if i never get another fable again, you guys who read this tiny text will know why.
i want to write more about my fable world!! i want to write about specific gods, differences in fable herds, technological differences, etc... i love tiny details bc they make the world feel alive to me.

What helps to inspire or motivate you to develop your fables and/or their world?
i have to say that i get inspired by anything!!! i get inspired by the games i play, my cat, nature facts, our world's history, language/the ways we communicate, books i read (even if i read them months or years ago...), and low quality but fun manhwa..

What’s something about the species or community that you’re most excited about or are looking forward to?
i love seeing milestone fables, the stampedes leading to those fables, new traits, lore prompt fables, new styles of competition, and new lore prompts! melonbread's interpretation of a summer event is really fun and detailed too!! like maybe it seems obvious now, but i gasped when the fable from the sign became adoptable.. like it makes sense bc the other fables were raffle-based, but i was really happy to see the fable come alive!! also i read thru the current forms a couple times bc im nosy.. so fun to see how everyone interprets a moodboard and personality section. my favorites so far are the ones that use the personality section as a mini lore section, like u guys understand the appeal of bending the rules LOL
i also look forward to more mini series of fables.. like the drink or april fool fables!!! i would also like to see more partner competitions.. would i enter them.. no bc my social battery is awful orz. but i would enjoy reading and seeing them LOL

Where do your fables live? In a herd, a forest, a castle, a cottage, a big city? Why and how do they live there?
shuò lives in a big palace in a big city!! he lives there bc he wants to be close to ppl, but he wants to make sure that it's obvious he's above them. shuò had the palace built for him (he also helped do some work when he got impatient), but the city already existed. ofc it did get bigger after shuò moved there. the palace looks like wat rong khun but bigger and taller!!

Tell us about the magic in your fable’s world; are there rules regarding its use? Do all fables have the capacity for it?
every fable has a little magic, but the amount and type of magic depends on their physical attributes! for example, a horned fable is better at controlling magic, and rammed-horn fables are good at storing magic. theres other things that can enhance magic potential and capacity, such as magic stones and the power of stories. the more stories circulate a certain fable, the more powerful that fable becomes. stories can elevate fables to gods, but once a fable gets to that level, they die when their story disappears.
some fables form legacies/bloodlines/herds to strengthen their own and their future progeny's magic by telling each other's stories. unfortunately, this technique can sometimes privilege the strongest of fables. the stories that strengthen fables' magic also include human stories; i think religions can invoke evolved stories, so when shuò came alive, it was partly the result of the strength of the religion he represents (also blood and other magic, but don't tell shuò's worshipers that LOL).
sometimes, when a fable dies, their magic turns into a magic stone, or seeps into the ground and becomes a part of a larger magic stone.

Tell us about some of the flora and fauna we might encounter while exploring your fable’s world:
i havent thought abt this much yet, but one thing i see existing in my world are dragons.. i like dragons.. but i also think there would be fantastical plants that bloom only in certain circumstances, like dragonfruit flowers!

Is there religion in your fable’s realm? What sort of deities reside there, and how are they worshipped?
there are multiple, but the most prominent religion is the one shuò belongs to! it's famous because their god literally came alive LOL. not a lot of deities exist in the human world openly like shuò does, so i think humans tend to be overexcited in their worship of shuò. moreso because he occupies the very visible seat of the ruler of the empire. people send extravagant tributes, willingly participate in war, and create art for shuò.

What are some holidays or common celebrations in your fable's world? How do they celebrate?
HELP LOLLL this is the question i got stuck on for the first august lore prompt (>_< i imagine theres holidays celebrating swords, family, reoccurring and/or fantastical natural events, etc., but i want to add some that doesnt really relate to epic lore.. like, mundane holidays <3

What do your fables commonly eat? What’s their favorite food or drink?
shuò likes eating dragon hearts and rare steak <3 (crying)

What kind of clothing or costume would your fable(s) wear?
shuò always wears his hairpin, but in regards to clothing, shuò likes wearing hanfu!!

Does your fable have any pets, familiars, or companion animals?
no </3 shuò is a lone wolf LOL

If your fable was in a Dungeons & Dragons party, what would be their race/class?
elf blood hunter or druid? idk d&d well orz

Share a secret about your fable(s):
shuò actually feels affection for the weak, even though he pretends to be above the weak. he thinks humans are very weak, but he can't stop himself from watching them. but tbh i alluded to that a couple times, so i'll include something i havent written about: shuò sometimes overworks himself, but he doesnt notice bc he was too focused on his work. he doesnt have anyone around him to tell him so + his body doesnt require much physical care, so.

edited bc i forgot to bold the questions for readability LOL + added a link to leopia's questionnaire even tho kite already did it. just so everyone can see it <3

ruse!!! i love these questions rahhh!!!! skipped around a bit but tried to give it my all for this :] also haha kite beatcha to it! i win!
[vel]'s questionnaire 2 answers ✧
- Now that the Summer Solace nursery opened, which nursery has been your favorite? Which reiteration are you looking forward to most next?
i loved the summer nursery, but the winterspell nursery was one of my favorites!! so many soft fables! but im also soo exctied about the fall nursery coming back..... halloween fables!!!
- Have you found any new favorite fables in the time since the last questionnaire?
oh gosh. yes, so many good fables. i cant possibly get to them all but here are some recent faves!!
fable 400!!! so incredibly gorgeous!; fable 368! i love the accent colors...; FABLE 340 MY BELOVED!!!; MY BELOVEDDDDDD!!!!!; and ofc kites GORGEOUS nursery fable who i am obsessed with! HMs whom i do not want to link; all the fishing event fables, especially sharp and odd lure :)! fable 418... hellevi u better lock ur windows im stealing them bye.. fable m-73 waverly actually SLAYED that design i love it! fable 378 by alph is also SO gorgeous, i loveeee all the accessories!!! anddd ummmm fable 398 because i love mel designs and fluffy bird fables are the best.<3
- Do you think there are any similarities amongst your favorite fables, such as shared traits, colors, themes, or stories?
hmm.... honestly, all my favorites seem to be such a hodgepodge of colors and traits. thats one thing that stands out to me about fables versus other closed species- i find myself enjoying such a wide variety of traits and colors i normally would never have expected!!!!
- What kinds of fable prompts and/or design inspirations do you want to see next, or even repeated? (feel free to include pictures)
i love prompts like #425 by bezel where we share a bird pic, and i loveeed molotov's prompt for #357 (apple juice)!!!! i also had SUCH a fun time with the fishing event, the clues were so much fun to mull over, i had a blast<3! as for design inspirations, i love the mix of fantastical and natural designs weve seen so far. designs based on animals, birds specifically, are always so fun to see. theyre my favorite!!
- What would you like to see for the species' first anniversary?
FIRST anniversary?. has it really been that long???? jesus. um. umm. maybe something to the tune of the fishing event, where we get to see some fables from everyone on the fable staff following one theme? i love seeing everyones different art styles and interpretation. i would also love some kind of event that encourages character development or worldbuilding, i love seeing people respond with their fables :]
- Do you have any favorite lore prompts?
i am so bad about finishing lore prompts on time, but i loved the renfaire prompt! (even though i didnt get around to finishing it lol.) as far as prompts ive completed, i really enjoyed my response for the summer activity prompt, and the ocean travel one! both prompts were about my favorite fables luci and seppe, i always enjoy writing about their nonsense lol. i also had an unfinished lore prompt response that was just me using it as an excuse to write a bodyswap of those two which was HILARIOUS but i never finished lol. but if you know me you know im a bodyswap FIEND and will always find an excuse for one <3 best trope OAT possibly.!
- Did you accomplish any of the plans you wrote about in the last questionnaire?
gonna be so honest i dont even remember what i wrote. so probably not. but i have acquired a good amount of fables so far, and done quite a bit of character building, worldbuilding, and even roleplayed (!!!!) with other people for the first time in AGES, so i am thrilled with what ive accomplished so far<3
- Any updates on your fables, plans for fables, MYOs, new art, etc. that you want to share?
nope😭 wish i did, but im very spur of the moment and generally do not do any planning. at the moment, im working on developing my newer fables, and have been having a blast! bells and reyes are my most recent brainworms, and i have had a lot of fun working out their dynamic and doing some art of them recently :)
- Do you have any guiding idea(s) or inspiration(s) for your fable lore? (like the abstract idea of gods, or inspiration from other media or your interests)
almost all of my characters are based in medieval fantasy au, including my fables! its heavily inspired by the witcher, d&d, lord of the mysteries, and other similar such fantastical settings! im quite bad at worldbuilding but i like to come up with vague impressions of kingdoms and houses and fantasy magic lore when its relevant. i particularly love the fantasy religions from lord of the mysteries, and draw on that quite a bit for my lore!
- What kinds of groups exist in your fable lore? (guilds, herds, nobility, opposing political factions, etc.)
my fables are developed almost exclusively in human form, so they follow a very human hierarchy- there are nobles and royalty that are reminiscient of medieval times. giving game of thrones kind of? (i never watched it but i assume its similar lol)
- What time period does your fable world exist in?
medieval times!
- What kind of technology is accessible to your fables?
urmm. havent really thought about it. i kind of incorporate magic into medieval technology, so where there may lack electricity magic is woven into the worldbuilding so magic usually conveniently replaces modern electricity lol. (no plot holes here. keep walking pal)
- What other kinds of creatures do fables interact with and/or live amongst in your world?
love this question!!! my world is super inspired by the witcher, and i love the idea of people coexisting with fantastical beasts, so i always try to sneak in beasts into my lore lol. dragons, gryphons, fae, spirits, demons, nymphs, wyrms, merfolk, etc etc.
- How do others in your fable world perceive your fable(s)?
ooh thats a fun one! im totally tired rn and might come back to do a few more of these but ill touch on my favorite fellas for now-
sybil: scary fella. those who dont know him are probably afraid of him; hes big, armed to the teeth, and has a nasty resting Mean face. hes hard to get a read on.
giuseppe: most people probably think he's a bit mad. (which he is, but like, hey. cut a guy some slack.) he comes off as impossibly eccentric, unserious, and a bit unsettling. but younger folks tend to find him entertaining, especially the students at the magic academy. he's always up to something, usually crashing luciano's lectures for some silly nonsense, and the kids love it. the other professors, not so much. lol
luciano: he's well respected by his peers, and feared by his students. some of his peers definitely also fear him. hes a very severe fellow, with a mean glare. never laughing or cracking a smile. quite the drill sargent in the classroom, and students tell horror stories that get around to spooking the first years. known for his brilliant arcane prowess and knowledge, and also for his bizarre relationship with the eccentric mess that is giuseppe.
- Do you have any symbols, motifs, or even emojis that you associate with your fable(s)?
i dont have many interesting ones off the top of my head but heres one for syb-
sybil: 🗡️ sword! for one thing, he's a mercenary, so sword is kind of a necessity. also, its the emoji i used for the fable RP, so i associate it with him! another little tidbit, one of alph's fables referred to him as a "sellsword" (slang for merc) and i absolutely adored that title haha.
- What does your fable(s) consider most precious, materially and/or ideologically?
ooh i did a lore prompt kinda relating to this! this one was relating to luciano, but i think it applies to my world in a broad sense.
- What sizes does your fable(s) come in? (feel free to include heights for human form too)
i dont have specific heights picked out, but i kinda categorize my herd in their human form as tall, medium, and small- so heres a few of em all sorted out!
tall: sybil, guiseppe, barnaby, corvin
medium: luciano, chantilly, sonny
small: bells, thursday
- Has your fable(s) encountered any life-changing events? How did your fable(s) react to them?
yes!!!!! lots of trauma and life altering events! i love that! its essential for all of my fables. however i will not be elaborating on this right now. perhaps when i have a bit more energy lol.
- Does your fable(s) have any kind of work or specialty? (being an heir to an herd, having a special talent for metalwork, etc.)
yeah!!! heres a few :)
reyes: beast handler! she is like the white lady pitbull wrangler equivalent in my world lol. she gets dragons out of chicken coops and wrangles magic beasts that are acting troublesome lol.
sybil: mercenary! kind of. he used to be a merc, but after some traumatic stuff he kind of just wanders and takes odd jobs here and there for coin.
corvin: prince/royal heir. dunno proper royal terminology/hierarchy lol. but his family kind of usurped the family that was expected to rise to power, and he became heir apparent(is this a real thing? hell if i know. i think i heard this on game of thrones. so. take that with a grain of salt.)
luciano&giuseppe: work in magic academy (hogwarts adjacent). luciano as a prestigious lecturer, professor, researcher, and seppe as... an eccentric "consultant" for magical artifacts who spends his time bothering luciano during his lectures lol.
sonny lyle: preacher/recruiter/cult leader? for his little small town cult thing. hes a nice fellow, i swear. just dont drink his cider.
- What is your fable(s)' most defining relationship? (one per fable, preferably [evil laugh])
i tend to pair my fables off while developing them, so this one is pretty easy lol.
luciano: giuseppe of course! seppe is his "friend" from his academy years and also his current husband (nontraditional marriage. they were magically wed by a pissed off magic artifact. no i will not elaborate on this.) whom he treasures very dearly but would probably never admit aloud.
reyes: bells! beloved wife. they totally complete each other! beast tamer and wildlife rehabilitator :) soft little lady wife and muscley grump. too cute!
corvin: auren. they are in the enemies stage of their enemies to lovers but mostly enemies arc. complicated and messy. also, kinda freaky 🤨
sonny lyle: i'd say his relationship with his townspeople. they ARE the members of his cult that he kind of turned into mindless drones. so. pretty significant i'd say.
you can probably tell i have significant favorites among my herd lol. dont judge me. im TRYING ok its just a work in progress shh.
thats all i got! thanks ruse for the questions, this was super fun! i skipped around a few questions oops. anyway, cant wait to see everyone else pitch in :]

Vel
how dare you beat me! Well, anyway, here are my
old answers, to reference in this part 2.
[BlueEyedKite]'s questionnaire 2 answers ✧ - Now that the Summer Solace nursery opened, which nursery has been your favorite? Which reiteration are you looking forward to most next?
I know last time I said it was a tie, but I got to give it up to the Autumn Haunting nursery aka Fall!! You can’t win against my devotion to Halloween. All the other nurseries did their best, and the fable traits were amazing, but I am begging on my knees for the Fall nursery to please please come back.
- Have you found any new favorite fables in the time since the last questionnaire?
Last time my top three were: Kleio, Aether, and koegami’s Silas. I still love them, but I will pick three more because there is more to love ^^ I want to steal squeegi’s Luciano. Love the dark palette. The amazing custom edits. The accessories! Second would have to be Doglike’s Adurere. Based off a black kite. kite! And it looks like it is smoldering embers. I adore fire <3<3 Last but not least. ExVenor’s Syrak. I will never not be devastated I lost this comp ;.; but my friend and I gave it our all. This fable is stunning. The colors, the spikes, the chain. Everything I love in one OC.
- Do you think there are any similarities amongst your favorite fables, such as shared traits, colors, themes, or stories?
Preposterous! I clearly don’t have a favorite theme hides the red ones in my herd. No, but for real I can’t get enough of the fable lines designed in red. I am entranced every time. If I am known as that one wacko that “likes red fables”, so be it. And can you send any red ones my way? Thanks.
- What kinds of fable prompts and/or design inspirations do you want to see next, or even repeated? (feel free to include pictures)
I want something similar to the lost cats to come back. It was so fun to spam guesses. Plus the little artwork was cute. Other than that, I liked the find a cs pet companion comp. I like writing prompts that pose an interesting question like give your fable’s daily schedule or what does the rumor mill say about them.
- What would you like to see for the species' first anniversary?
I want to hold everyone and cry. Because we did it. We made the best species on CS with the most creative, most amazing community. And maybe have a virtual party somehow… with cupcakes.
- Do you have any favorite lore prompts?
YES I DO. Love you lore prompts!! This lore prompt “How does your fable show others they love/appreciate them?” which I answered here. It was fun to imagine one of the darker entities of my world. And also have Cian make his dashing confession of love, swoon. Also, I had a blast writing for the tapestry prompt which you can read here. The fight scene turned out pretty good! And I thought the dialogue was sharp. A fun one for sure. Lastly, would be the character prompt for July, read here. I got to include the boys’ darling children. And Caty makes for a fun main character hehe.
- Did you accomplish any of the plans you wrote about in the last questionnaire?
Plans?? Oh, um, what did I say? Let me look. Per my earlier response: “I want to eventually have an entire royal court for my herd, Herd Solasta. I want a royal adviser, knights, lords and ladies, chefs, gardeners, you name it. As for worldbuilding, I have an entire plot-line for Cian that involves an evil herd I haven’t even started yet ;.; a long way to go. It will be fun though!”
Ok… I got a royal adviser! Aaaand that’s it TuT but it’s good to have dreams! And I am sure eventually I’ll have a whole royal court. Anyway! I did start on my evil herd! I already have the herd heir and his second. I just need to type up their bios. I should do that. Soon.
- Any updates on your fables, plans for fables, MYOs, new art, etc. that you want to share?
Alright. I will make it official. My goals moving onward include three milestones. 1. Fill out Herd Solasta’s royal court. 2. Flesh out my evil herd and type out all the lore that is floating around in my head but isn’t on the page. And 3. Worldbuild the second gen. Cian and Kleio have twins. And soon they’ll have another set of twins. I want to type up bios and give the kids their own timeline. And reach out to other users to rope their 2nd gen babies in with mine (kett, Oats, Vel, I am looking at you).
- Do you have any guiding idea(s) or inspiration(s) for your fable lore? (like the abstract idea of gods, or inspiration from other media or your interests)
Sort of. I like to imagine my fables are set in a middle ages Scotland. I throw around Scots Gaelic. That said, a lot of the plot for my fables revolve around my ideas for a medieval fairytale. I want curses, and evil villains, haunted woods, scandal, and romance. I’m slowly incorporating mythological creatures I like: dire wolves, dragons, pegasus. etc
- What kinds of groups exist in your fable lore? (guilds, herds, nobility, opposing political factions, etc.)
I followed Bezel’s setup of a herd system. Herds work like royal houses. They have a leader and a herd heir, who takes over when the leader is no longer in power. They don’t have to be nobility in my lore… but I did make my herd leader, Kerr, a king lol. You gotta have royals in medieval fairytales! These herds also have banner colors, family crests, and herd values to govern their people. There is definitely a pecking order among the herds. Everyone is making deals, trying to leverage their reign. Some are more power hungry than others.
- What time period does your fable world exist in?
Ye oldie times!
- What kind of technology is accessible to your fables?
I have struggled with this. So they have rudimentary weapons like swords, cross bow, axe, and lance. They got armor. Real old stuff right? But I want to include trains ;.; trains are cool. The steam locomotives. But that isn’t the era. Also old motor cars T.T they’re just so cool! I want Cian impressing Kleio with a Sunday drive. Can I just have it all because magical world? Also… I don’t want to think about their toilet situation. Poor fables.
- What architecture, landscapes, monuments, ruins, etc. decorate your fable world?
My fables live in a great wood. So you got impressive trees and woodsy scenery. But they border the Crystal Coast. Above my herd is a mountain range. Then to their left is the icky, stinky marshlands.
- What kind of governments control your lands? How involved are they? Do they have regulations on magic usage?
My herd has a monarchy. But they just govern their territory. There is greater fable laws, like moral codes. I guess there is a council that oversees the overarching decrees. I am thinking like a knight’s round table situation. Within these laws there are forbidden magics: black magic, blood magic, necromancy, voodoo, and shadow magic. If you are caught performing these illegal magics you get thrown in jail. Doesn’t matter your station in society either. So, most fables who know these forbidden magics band together and live off the grid. From time to time they might storm a herd, pillage, but usually herds are well armed and can stamp out any trouble.
- How long-lived are your fable(s)? Can fables obtain immortality in your world? (follow-up q: do fables have any persisting effects after death?)
Hello question I have been wrestling with for a while. I think I settled on maybe 150 years? Yes they can obtain immortality but that would make them ascend to godhood. I also would like to think that fables can haunt the world after death. There are mediums that can speak to those that have passed on. Bringing someone back to life? Still tricky. And definitely requires the bad bad magic.
- Are there any common forms of ailments or deaths in your fables' world?
There are curses c:< and it’s not like you need a fable to hex you either. Curses work more like punishment from nature. Or maybe some celestial force? Curses don’t usually kill you… they stick around to punish you ^^ The other way of dying in my world is the dangerous creatures. We have all kinds of serious beasts wandering the woods. It’s common for all station of fables to learn how to handle a weapon. Everyone’s got a fighting chance! Unless there is cheating with forbidden magics that have a high kill rate. But don’t worry! Those bad users are in the margins of society.
- What kind of taboos haunt your fables' world? (example: BlueEyedKite's lore forbidding blood magic)
HEY! That’s me! Well now I can’t talk about blood magic. I’ll talk about another taboo. It’s taboo to worship the shadow god. Way back when there was a great war between the sun god and the shadow god. The shadow god wanted the world to be shadows. That’s not good for everyone, just the shadow god minions. Thankfully he was defeated and banished from the mortal realm. So, understandably, if you set up shrines for the shadow god. If you practice shadow magic. If you’re searching the scrolls to see if there is a way to resurrect him—that’s pretty taboo. Anyone who openly shows they support the shadow god is not welcomed in civilized society.
- Does your world have an origin story? Does its in-world depiction differ from the actual lore?
I haven’t thought of that yet e-e I think there are bunch of main gods that brought the realm into being. Some gods lived among fable kind for a spell. Then it got too messy, and the gods had to back off to their separate realm to just observe. How’s that?
- What other kinds of creatures do fables interact with and/or live amongst in your world?
You got all natural animals. Then I throw in the mythological creatures: selkies, kelpies, dryads, fairies, you name it. The one species they don’t have is humans. Because my fables take a humanoid form. Too confusing. Fables basically replace humans.
- How do others in your fable world perceive your fable(s)?
Depends on the fable. King Kerr is adored. Rath is admired but pitied. Nari is feared. Cian broke his peoples’ hearts. Herd Solasta, as a whole, is pretty high up on the totem pole. They got that going for them.
- Do you have any symbols, motifs, or even emojis that you associate with your fable(s)?
OH?! I have cs pet dress ups. Do those count?
- What does your fable(s) consider most precious, materially and/or ideologically?
Kerr considers family precious. Cian considers Kleio and their babies, precious. The only fable with lofty ideology would be Rath and his knight chivalry. He holds duty, honor, and loyalty above all.
- What sizes does your fable(s) come in? (feel free to include heights for human form too)
Most of my fables are deer looking so I just imagine they are the size of deer to moose in their fable forms. In their human forms the only one I nailed down is Cian would be 6 ft. When his son, Caty, is grown I expect him to be even taller than his daddy.
- Has your fable(s) encountered any life-changing events? How did your fable(s) react to them?
Yes. The queen of my herd vanished. The fall out from that one event has left ripples. The king is utterly depressed. His son ran away from home. The captain of the guard is crippled by guilt. The royal adviser is plagued by visions of Solasta’s future. And the future of the herd is in the balance. Can they overcome this loss? You will have to wait and see what I reveal.
- What does your fable(s) look at their lowest and/or best?
I will use Cian as an example, since he is my pride and joy. At his best he was a model heir. He was charismatic. A delight amongst his people. Hardworking. Accomplished. Full of promise. Yet, at his lowest, he was a coward, a thief, almost a murderer, and he couldn’t stay true to his beliefs.
- What kind of figure or goal guides your fable(s)?
Kerr wants to be reunited with his son. Cian wants to remove his curse. Rath wants to avenge his queen or see her safely home. Nari wants to fulfill the prophesies.
- Does your fable(s) have any kind of work or specialty? (being an heir to an herd, having a special talent for metalwork, etc.)
I try and give all my fables a role. And they all have some type of magic ability, because I can’t resist the fun in that. You got Kerr, the king of the wood, possessor of light magic. His son, Cian, is the heir but more a prodigal prince because he ran off. He has forbidden blood magic (it’s a secret). Rath has some light powers too. And he is excellent in battle which is handy since he is the captain of the guard. Nari is new to my herd. She is the royal adviser. She has multi-tail fox abilities. She can speak to “ancients”, see visions, and can also eat the souls of evil fables! To name a few
- How does your fable(s) impact and/or interact with the world around them? (feel free to interpret this however way you want)
Cian has made an impact in another herd. Herd Vallor. He stumbled across them by fate. Stuck around for love (what else). But his being there has changed the trajectory of that herd. Their bloodline has no magic, Cian has magic coursing through his veins. Their (Kleio & Cian’s) children will be world changers, just you wait.
- Does your fable(s) have any connections to their local government? If not, are they loyal to any specific group(s)?
I am sure Kerr, as king of the wood, has some connection to the fable realm’s council. Maybe he sits at the table? I am just spitballing since I haven’t gotten this far in my worldbuilding. My evil herd, Herd Faileas, they are about to make themselves a target when they really pop off. It’s going to take the power of many herds to take down what they have cooking.
- What is your fable(s)' most defining relationship? (one per fable, preferably [evil laugh])
Kerr: his wifey T.T </3
Cian: Feathers aka Kleio <3
Caturix: His twin, Chione.
Rath: right now his dire wolf, Narah ;.; he needs friends
Tùrsach: he’s too busy with his business to bother with relationships. I do want to fix that. Any offers?
Beulan: He is very attune to the sea. He doesn’t know it but he has communed with the sea god.
Nari: She is painfully alone right now. But she has visions of a red fable
Sgàth: His dear friend, Peri. Though they have to part ways their fates are forever tied.
Crò: Cian, but not in a good way xD there is bad things coming for our prodigal prince
Drèin: Probably his connection with his metal war machine mount, Bàs.

ANOTHER QUESTIONNAIRE YIPPEEEE ruse you're so cool for this !!!!
hellevi's questionnaire 2 answers ✧ - Now that the Summer Solace nursery opened, which nursery has been your favorite? Which reiteration are you looking forward to most next?

i finally got the guardian made which is a key piece in my lore. slowly working on its info....
- Do you have any guiding idea(s) or inspiration(s) for your fable lore? (like the abstract idea of gods, or inspiration from other media or your interests)
i read a fanfic once where the forest was always changing around those who went through it and you had to follow a compass Very precisely in order to make it through and that is how i got the idea of the land where my fables live! besides that, i wing everything

none.... as of right now...
- What architecture, landscapes, monuments, ruins, etc. decorate your fable world?
its a whole lot of forest that's separated by season. each different district (season) has different flora, etc but i have yet to write much about that. there's also a large body of water that has canals running throughout the forest and extending to each district
- What kind of governments control your lands? How involved are they? Do they have regulations on magic usage?
the term government isn't really used. there's no "leading" party or anything similar: it's simply representatives chosen from each district to meet once a month and discuss any updates or happenings. decisions are only made when issues arise -- otherwise, the meetings are more like a check in

no buit i should think of one

i think typical forest dwellers and perhaps i'll think up some fantasy critters to join them

flowers!!! flora of all sorts. and deer
- What does your fable(s) consider most precious, materially and/or ideologically?
good question i'll think on this too

average height is about 177 cm but it can range from 152 cm to 203 cm. some that have had interception by the guardian can grow even taller

aries sacrificed himself to save his home. he has since become incredibly closed off and reclusive
- What kind of figure or goal guides your fable(s)?
they strive for harmony with the forest
- Does your fable(s) have any kind of work or specialty? (being an heir to an herd, having a special talent for metalwork, etc.)
fawn is an apothecary, kvitka is one of the council ("political") chair-heads, huron is a guard and the guardian is The Guardian. Hehe
- Does your fable(s) have any connections to their local government? If not, are they loyal to any specific group(s)?
fables typically rally for whatever district they live in. local government is small and open and there is little conflict amongst districts
- What is your fable(s)' most defining relationship? (one per fable, preferably [evil laugh])
for fawn, it is her relationship to aries.
for kvitka, it is their relationship to the guardian.
for huron, it is his relationship to his mother.
for juno, it is his relationship to his brother
for aries, it is with his homeland.
for ondine, it is with her appearance
as far as the guardian goes.... Well.
