what is your favorite thing about buttermilks? what drove you to the species?
tbh i really adore just about everything about buttermilks! i really love the community aspect of it - it feels tight knit, but it's not so small that it feels dead! but i think i was first drawn in by the cute lines, which are so flexible and a great canvas for designs <3

what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?
i'm a big fan of long writing competitions (i could write a book without even trying i swear once i get going i can't stop) & easy, short competitions like naming competitions, collar color competitions, and raffles!

omg you don't even know!! i'll try not to get too out of hand though

• alli is my basil's mate and i absolutely adore her!!
• buttermilk 162 is absolutely stunning and probably my favorite floppy-eared buttermilk
• buttermilk 158 is my second favorite bull and the hardest i ever worked in a competition! i got a ru that i'm very happy with, but i still adore the original <3
• buttermilk 140 is just beautiful, and i really adore her!!
• buttermilk 299 is so pretty, she made me realize how great cat designs can look on buttermilks!
• and finally, the beauty who looks like she really produces chocolate milk, buttermilk 288!

any of your buttermilks celebrate uncommon or personally made holidays? if so, what?
not necessarily holidays, but the gladiola herd sometime host ceremonies to celebrate good luck or to boost morale when times are down, and they always incorporate flowers into their ceremonies. they also host flower-oriented ceremonies when welcoming new buttermilks, when a significant change in rank (such as a new leader) occurs, or when saying goodbye to a herd member.

oh absolutely! it's really hard to pick a favorite, but i think i'd have to pick this piece by pixiepup of my heifer basil!

@areater - i almost forgot to include this in my post - i love that art piece of basil!! since it’s august now, i think that i can officially say that the costume gets me in the christmas spirit xD

is anyone else looking forward to the runaway bull (or i guess they’re called front road bois, lol) adopts? i definitely am - i’ve been checking the thread like crazy looking for an adopt to pop up.

anyway, i love questions like these!

what is your favorite thing about buttermilks? what drove you to the species?

i loved the aesthetic of the species! everything was so soft and comforting, so i found myself interested in owning some. i didn’t own cattle like iridize does, but i did grow up around them so maybe that’s why they feel homey.
what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?

a variety of competitions to attract a variety of people would be the best in my opinion. raffles, fcfs, impress me’s, writing competitions, drawing competitions, guessing games, partner competitions, etc. etc. although since you’re asking me, i like short, question-based writing competitions.

oof i have a ton! i won’t show all of them, but let it be known that there are a ton of beautiful butters out there.

a prompt-based mini event would be helpful. aside from that, maybe a buttermilk staff member could post development questions (sort of like these but about development) weekly on the fanclub for members to answer. also, like kassypen said,

offer writing or drawing comps where you unintentionally dev your cow c;

help me get over my own laziness haha

personally, i think that the fanclub is adequate for that purpose, but i can see where it would help others who don’t want to scroll through the fanclub looking for breeding advertisements.

@Iridize - Ooh, that's cool to own cattle! I always wished I lived more rural so I could work with those types of animals. Best of luck on growing your Buttermilk barn!

@Areater - I love the flowers everywhere in their ceremonies. I can picture it a little. <3 That art is also adorable!

@LivingLethal - yes, I'm excited to see the front road bois haha. I already own a bull, so I might hang back and let others nab them, but I'm definitely excited to see them! I just check the created pets page, though, since I'm always over there.

Certainly the chill, polite community! Sadly, I never got much into it before since I was used to the ones where we all got in and fought and I wasn't used to polite chatter, but I'm going to work on that haha. You guys are all so nice.

what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?
Character development for sure. I'm one of many people who are too busy and on the move (be it doing rl things or a cs to-do) to hammer the refresh page for fcfs, I'd rather gradually work on a personality over a week or so. I also like that my buttermilks all have genuine personality when they enter my barn.

Maybe an art trade or writing competitions? I find the best motivator is competition lol.

Oh for sure! Keeps things tidy and organized. Even with the list of bulls on the nursery page, I was always too intimidated to contact someone since I wasn't sure if they wanted to be contacted. So a unique thread would be great.

My favorite thing about buttermilks is that it's the first cow adoptable species that I've been introduced to and I thought it was so unique because you don't see cow adopts often if at all? You see tons of cat adopts, dogs and horses but never cows.
What drove me to this species was that I had the possibility to get a cow, and the art style is adorable.

what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?
I'm not sure I have a favorite type of contest, I'll just participate in any. And I'd like to see more non-owners contests because I feel like a lot of users that really wanted some moos didn't really have much of a chance after the species had quieted down.

Yes. My Buttermilk Viper celebrates 'Viper Day'. It's basically her birthday and she struts around more often and acts more like a queen than a princess on that day. Her mother Jules just celebrates it as her daughter's birthday.
One celebration my herd does as a whole is that they celebrate their life every full moon. It's only during the full moon because (if it isn't cloudy) they're able to graze and frolic at night without being completely blinded by darkness.

do you think a mate or breeding finding thread would be helpful?

sometimes it's awkward asking someone who has a bull if they'd be willing to let others use him for breedings because you never know if they don't feel comfortable with it or if they'll ever respond? So having a thread dedicated to people who are looking to breed/find love for their cows sounds great.

the first thing that attracted me to buttermilks was the art style!! the lineart is just precious, and wow, so many talented artists!! another part was that i'd never seen a cow species on here before and my interest was immediately piqued!! i was never very active in the community - too shy - but it always seemed lovely!!

what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?
my favourite is always writing and getting to develop a character! both long impress me's and shorter fixed prompts; more realistic cow-friendly such as "how they'd react to x", or "what their favourite weather is", or something more along the lines of "what type of pokemon gym leader they'd be and what would their team be"! oh, hmm, maybe some shorter competitions to start off with? naming competitions, a gif that describes them, theme song, etc. with a good few in the form of non-owners or x and less moos to encourage people back into the community!

I've never posted here, so hi! My name is Dimi, I'm a student in HS, and I absolutely love to write, roleplay, and doodle. I just became the main archivist for buttermilks, and I am so excited to be here! I'm just gonna answer some of the general questions for right now ^-^

what is your favorite thing about buttermilks? what drove you to the species?
I love how unique buttermilks are! I've never really seen any cow adopts, so seeing this pop up while browsing CS really got me excited. I was driven to them because of the cute lineart as well as the unique nature of them, since they stand out so much more than the next canine species <3

what is your favorite type of contest, or a contest you'd like to see more of once the adopts have started?
I really like contests that get involved in a very specific aspect of a character, such as favorite color and why, a theme song competition. It's simple competitions that get my attention. I also love guessing competitions. I think Buttermilks could use more theme song competitions.

This took some digging and narrowing down, but I really love these two.
#348 owned by Livinglethal - Gray and white go together really well. I love this design a ton because of it's simplicity + how well the palette is put together.
