    Hallo everyone.

A brief introduction. I'm Einsamkeit, but I have a lot of different names on here. I'm in my second year of college, working towards an undergraduate degree in biological chemistry so that I can be a surgeon someday. I plan on minoring in psychology, since I am very interested in how the human mind works, along with mental disorders.

Haha, now let's get to the point..

Have any of you read this? I find it to be quite intriguing. The advancement of medical technology in recent years is so astounding.

For once, I feel like I'm surrounded by people.....who are smarter than I am! >.<
I'm sorry, but usually I'm the smart person out of the people I know, but y'all have like...graduated! I certainly am far from that.....
So, basicly, the only reason I'm on this thread is that I'm bored and could honestly care less about religion. (So I'm no longer on the religion thread) And I was wondering if I could learn some stuff because honestly, I'm not sure what I want to do with my life XD

Do you hear the people s i n g?
Singing a song of a n g r y men?
It is the music of a people
Who will n o t be slaves again!
When the beating of your h e a r t
Echoes the beating of the d r u m s
There is a life about to start
When t o m o r r o w comes!

Do you hear the people s i n g?
Lost in the valley of the n i g h t ?
It is the music of a people
Who are c l i m b i n g to the light!
For the wretched of the e a r t h
There is a flame that never d i e s
Even the darkest nights will end

Hey! I'm meowool. At the moment I'm finishing my GCSE in Triple Science (It's three separate ones in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.) At the moment I have to learn all three but in September I plan on doing Biology and Chemistry at A-Level for the whole two years! I think my favourite areas are Genetics, (sadly, the GCSE course only does the basic stuff and co-dominants) and I quite liked making Esters in chemistry! Ummm...I plan on maybe becoming a animal physiotherapist, (or actor lol!) Here I think it'll be nice to be asking questions rather than answering them the whole time!!

(In the first post, in the rules bit of it.... the OP missed out a 'used', in the clarity rule??)

Mostly stuff about astronomy, stars, planets, you know, stuff like that. But since I know a bunch of stuff, I just kind of wanted to learn more about various things. (I'm probably going to just look around the thread for things, you don't actually HAVE to talk to me on here.)

Hello.
Im finishing my last mandatory year in highschool, but Ill be staying on for another 2 years.
No science qualifications yet... Just a large interest in alot of science-realated subjects such as Herpetology and Paleontology... I also like bugs and arachnids >.>
Life goal = Advanced Highers in Biology and Chemistry... Wish me luck? ;p

My knowledge tends to just be random facts >.> Dont expect great inteligence o.o

Lornsome night,
babbits bawlin',
wind bitin' the bone.
Wind like this,
full of voices.
Ancestry howlin' at you;
Now, find you devil,
Old Georgie himself.
Now you hear up close
and I'll yarn you about
the first time we met
eye to eye.
'you bring the stories'.
All their voices
tied up into one.
One voice different,
one voice whispering
out there,
spying from the dark.

Hello, I'm -Firesong-
I'm just about to finish my first year of high school, and I took Biology.
My interest in science is probably DNA and genetics, that's the unit we're currently doing and I love it, I think it's amazing how a single gene out of place can give you certain disorders and such. I also really enjoy the pedigrees we are doing.
Next year, I will take Chemistry and Intro to Psychology. I'm fascinated with psychology, though I don't know if that's considered science-y or not, but either way I think psychology is very cool. I am planning on majoring in something science related in college, though that is a few years off.
I'm hoping to learn a bit more about science and prepare myself a little for chemistry by reading this thread.

^ Woot, another genetics and psychology fan! ^^ Those are my main interests as well, particularly social psychology and genetic disorders. Chemistry... not so much a fan of that one. X3 It can be fun though, especially if you get to do synthesis or chemical identification labs (where you have an unknown chemical and have to run it through various tests to discover what it is).

I'm not sure what level of chemistry you'd be getting into in high school, but probably the best preparation you could do for it is to learn the abbreviations for chemicals on the periodic table, at least for the more common chemicals. The ones you'll likely be seeing a lot of in chemistry are carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N), sulfur (S), sodium (Na), chloride (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), magnesium (Mg), potassium (K) and calcium (Ca), as well as some of the metals like silver (Ag), aluminum (Al) and lead (Pb). If you can recognize those by their abbreviations without having to look them up, it'll make understanding chemical structures/formulas a lot easier and faster.

Good. I was looking for a club like this.
I am interested in all sorts of science things, from the particle zoo to cosmotology. I have no idea what science I will major in when I go to college, but it will most likley be astronomy or physics. Or astrobiology or astrophysics or lunar geology or biotechnology or nanotechnology or paricle physics, or as I once said, astronanobiophysics, which most likely doesn't exist. I subscribe to Muse (which hopefully won't be confused with the band), and National Geographic. I also am always the first, and most likely only, person to read the school's Popular Science each month, as well as picking up other magazines occasionally, such as Scientific American. Now I am babbling, and have been the whole post, so I will stop.

(Put later: Please excuse the many typos I made. I thought I caught them all, but apparently not. Now I think they're all gone.)
