So I added a new rule to the Referrals thread and Referrals cannot be acquired through bribing, paying, blackmailing and/or etc someone to mark the thread & refer you. The goal about Referrals is that people are supposed to mark the thread because they like the species and because they want to, not because they're being paid to do so. Small things I am fine with, such as doing sketches for people, but as for actually offering to pay someone to refer you, that I will no longer accept.

I won't redact on any currently because I just added in the rule, & I will be lenient on it over the next few days in case anything you guys already did has lasting effects, but in the future I'm not going to record them & they can cause warnings/strikes. I have a feeling that 80% of the marked "referrals" I've got since opening the shop are just people who don't even have any actual interest and just did it for the prizes, which just completely redacts from the goal of actually getting new members for the community, as well as the idea of having the referrals shop as a free alternative to acquire things.

I think once the referral count is updated, I'll have 10? I'm so excited, I may just get a tier one or two ticket, as I don't think i'd be able to refer many more people.

Small things like helping people out like that are alright I suppose, though I'd prefer not. You just can't actually say to the person, 'ey if you mark this I will personally pay you to do it.'

In the future, I might just ask that people provide how they found the adoptable in their comment in order to actually refer the person (i.e. saw it in their siggy, post on CAAA, or just something like that), and then I'll be able to judge whether it's fair or not.
No one would really be in any trouble, it's not like I'd start handing out strikes willy-nilly, but I'd just ask them not to try and refer people in that way again.
