here's a bit about me/ my writing journey: i mostly just write for fun. while i'd love to publish a novel at some point, that requires a much more consistent effort than i have energy for at the moment. i start wayyyy too many projects, and i have many OCs. my favorite aspect of writing is the relationships between characters, so i've found roleplaying to be a really good outlet for that.

Hey guys its been a while! Hope the Holidays are going well Im so happy with my Dec 18th pulls, I got my first UR pet with the new snake *sobs* Plus Scourge?? Insane.

do you have any writing goals for the new year? share some if you're comfortable!

Since I work better doing multiple small goals than one huge one, I'd like to write small stories for all my characters that don't have any yet! Just little ficlets/scenes to get a better grasp of their personality, mannerisms, way of speaking, etc. There's certain ocs of mine that I focus on more than others ngl, so I wanna share the love lol.

OMG, i've started getting into the habit of doing this in preparation for setting up my toyhouse, the little snippets/scenes of oc's, and it's a blast c': i've only done one so far just because life has been crazy busy with the holidays lately and i only just got a toyhouse a few weeks ago.
i hope you're able to have some more time next year to keep writing these little one-shots, cody :3 and i hope you find the motivation to share the love to some other oc's too, lol, rather than just ur faves cx (i have this exact issue, i havent even made a toyhouse for like half of my characters yet) :') <3 <3 <3 have a happy new year !!! :O

Congrats on the snake!! I got nothing fancy, but one was a dreamie my friend has been dying for so gave her an early Christmas present ^^

My main goal is probably just to continue solidifying Flams world (Aftermath - humans have vanished, leaving behind their buildings/items/everything, and Flam the giraffe seeks to preserve all she can). I really want to get the full draft of her visit to the Overhanging Great Wall done if I can - got the route laid out, just need to actually write it out!

Then want to really dig deep into Kirat, a planet in my Elysian System which is ruled by feral cats, and a lovers quarrel has spiraled into the start of a civil war between the Rich and the Poor. Again I have a lot of ideas done and some key points that lead to the civil war, but I wanna really start writing it up in between Aftermath sessions ♡

These seem huge, but I write so sporadically in that "it depends on my mood" that hopefully I'll get a lot done in the next year ♡

yes !!! <3 keep going when you feel motivated :3 these are all big tasks, so just take it bit by bit !! it's really awesome to see that you've got so many plot points and ideas laid out, for both Aftermath and your Kirat story :3 now you've just gotta find the time to sit down and put it into words!

I really hope to complete the first draft of one of my main two books I'm working on right now, the one I plan on finishing first a highschool story that I'm trying to write a specific kind of mood into. I'd love to publish it but since I've never even come close to ever finishing a first draft, I'm starting with a smaller, though still fairly large, goal for the year ^^

here's a bit about me/ my writing journey:
I think I was nine or ten when I first wanted to start writing stories (before then I hated it because of school, I only liked writing poetry at that point. Mainly I hated it because I was horrible with grammar and spelling - in many aspects swedish makes no sense when it comes to that, speaking is easier than spelling), the dreams of becoming an author at some point in my life awoke and I blame J.K. Rowling for it all, lol. She was my idol back in the days (I don't dislike her these days, I'm still grateful for her and that she inspired me into this interest of mine. I've merely switched my favourite authors over the years) and since I enjoy fantasy I ended up mostly writing that when it came to short stories. Later I got into world-building and character development (the later mostly due to CS and adoptables here).

Nowadays I write poetry every once in a while, mostly about feelings or things around me that intrigues me. Or about my dragons on DC. Most of my time is spent on short novels (I don't know if I am allowed to call them that, but I refuse to call them anything but that until they're published as books). I currently have six stories in the making:

- The first one I finished writing last summer, hopefully the final time I re-wrote it and it's in the process of being proofread as of now. At some point I'll try to dare finding some test readers for it. This will also most likely be the first story I send into a publisher.
- The second one is nearly finished, although I need to re-write the last one or two chapters because I'm beyond displeased with how they turned out. This one I will truly struggle with if I do try to get it published. I've written it in English and most publishers here don't want to publish stories written in English.
- Two are more of manuscripts for comic pages, thus not very complicated and more focused on the flow in the dialogues.
- Two are still very early in the process of being written. One will be more of a early teen/just getting into a bit more complex books sort of story - and I lost the originally text I had started with and thus have to start all over with it. RIP. D:
The other is my true colours - if I should put it like that. It's the story that made me keep up with my writing to begin with and helped grow as I slowly found my own writers voice. I can confidently say from feedback I have received in the past that my writing will never be for everyone and I'm much like Steven Erikson in that matter. Either people hate my writing and find it "heavy" or people who enjoy fantasy end up liking it. Anyhow, I'm going to say it's still early in the process - even though the story has been in the making since 2007. I've only finished writing the first part of the story roughly and it's going to need so much editing and proofreading that it may take a year if not more only to do that. The second part of the story I think I got halfway done with the writing when I worked with it last spring. I tend to switch story when I notice that my writing flow isn't as good as it should be and I struggle with writing even one page. If it takes me more than 8 minutes to finish writing one page; it means I'm nearly running out of inspiration for said story. Anyway, after that it's the third and final part left to write for that story + all the editing and proofreading to do. So yup, there's a lot of work to do with that one.

Other than that I enjoy writing short stories for my characters in-between the longer stories or as warmups before I'm heading into the longer ones. And while I was studying literature and creative writing during 2014-2015 I took quite the liking to writing manuscripts for both theatre plays and movies, but I don't do it as much as I should be doing it.

Well, I really should try to write more manuscripts as I do enjoy it a lot and I haven't really done it since I finished studying literature and creative writing. So maybe that would be a nice goal to have for 2025? Sort of a nice taking the challenge on after ten years in the shadows, perhaps finishing the one I started writing for a theatre play all those years ago ...

Other than that I'm planning on using a poetry competition that's currently ongoing here as an excuse to either enter the first part of my poetry collection into ... Or using it as an excuse to finally finish the last few things for it and aim to get it going at long last. The word limit is 10k words, I am as of now not sure how many words mine contain. I've told myself for the past five years to be done with it - if not longer ... And I made excuse after excuse to not finish it. It's about time to see it to its end. I'm tired of having it unfinished in my archives.

Aaaaand the last thing shall remain unsaid mostly. As I'm much too shy to dare finding test readers, but it'd be lovely if I could somehow find courage to do so during 2025.

i'm gonna write this as i read your post so i don't miss any points :3
but jk rowling was also one of my favorite author role models back in the day <3 and led to why i now primarily write fantasy stories c: our own little sandbox that we can make whatever we want to happen, happen! and my time on CS has DEFINITELLY encouraged me to character-build. i only just recently built a toyhouse, and its helped me out a lot with character building and actually comprising art and lore for my babies c:

RAHHHH i love dragon cave -- i havent been on there in ages, but some of the dragons look so cool, i could definitely imagine some pretty sick stories about them !!

i am bewildered and flabbergasted at your ability to write so many alternate storylines! all of my stories, currently, are in the same world that i've created, same mechanics and logic, just following different characters <3 im so proud of you for sticking with it and growing !! and even tho your work may not be 'for everyone', i do think its important to have writer's voice and im a freak about going 'off the straight line' and experimenting with writing / making it my own. im thrilled that you seem to be comfortable doing the same :3 we love individuality <3 <3 <3

Hehe, sorry, I tend to go off rambling a lot sometimes ... xD

Indeed, I think she inspired quite many back in the days. (: That's the best thing about fantasy stories in my opinion; one get to be the "god" to decide what should be and what shouldn't. I enjoy having the space to decide upon things without having to worry too much regarding logic sometimes. Aaah, I've been thinking if I should try to get an access code to join toyhouse too, it seems like such a nice site for character storage and such. It's just that I've been with my good old website for my characters for so many years now that I'd feel bad if I left it completely. xD

Me too! I've loved that site for so many years. It was one of the first communities I joined that really forced me to practice my English for real and I'm grateful to this day for all the kind people I met there that was patient with me even when I made no sense at all, lol. :'3 I really need to contact someone to ask why the forums doesn't work for me anymore (I should have done it a year ago when I noticed how I was unable to login after one of the forum updates, but never got to it), I miss being able to login there every now and then to check in on things.

Honestly, it's the most messy in the beginning I think. Once everything's settled in it's quite easy to keep track of them all. (: And I guess I'm somewhat "blessed" by having some stories that are based off dreams I've had over the years; so they needed a lot less work with the world building since the dreams pretty much took care of that. I on the other hand wish that I could create more than one story in the same world, that would be fun to try someday. (: Aw <3 Indeed, I think it's important too and have noticed that whenever I write outside how I normally write, I struggle way more and feel like it isn't my story at all. More like I'm pretending to be someone else. Indeed individuality for the win <3

thanks for the warm welcome! i lost this thread for a bit in my posts/over the holiday, so it took me a hot minute to find it again!

i used to rp on site (please don't look it up, it was like five years ago and my writing has gotten so much better since then!), but i moved elsewhere with a few friends as some of the dynamics (gore, swearing) moved out of the range of cs. but if anyone wanted to start a camp half-blood rp here, i would be back in a heartbeat

write at least once per week. i know that doesn't sound like much, but i'm not good at keeping up with daily goals, and i generally prefer to sit down and write an entire scene at once, when i have the momentum.

also i have a high course load/busy schedule this semester and once a week is a good balance between things i officially need to do (school/work/what have you) and things that keep me from burning out (writing/reading/staring into space)
