Rawr~ Contest Entry

Postby Moo! » Wed Aug 31, 2011 12:03 pm

This is my entry for Howling's fursona contest. It is a spotted hyena/black bear cross (or I guess you could call it a hyear). It has the body, fur, feet, and ear positioning of a bear, and the neck, ears and legs of a hyena. The skull is the length of a bear's, but with a hyena muzzle. The tail is a shortened version of a hyena's. The spots are from the spotted hyena, but it doesn't have 'full' hyena markings. I though of this back when bears were still on your like list, so I hope it's okay. (I'm going to call it a he from here on out, though if you want it can also be a she.)

Due to time* and that he was made resourcefully, his androidic parts are not smooth and some are missing. His eyes are both androidic (the left eye is shown off the hyear and is a little smaller to scale than shown, signifigantly - but not ridiculously - smaller than his right eye), the right one being surrounded by metal plates. His shoulder/hip, leg and ankle joints were replaced with artificial sockets (as visible). His wings are made from poles and solar panels. They have a hinge so that they can bend in the middle (as shown) but they are not useful for any kind of conventional flight. However, they supply all the electrical energy to his eletronic parts as well as up to half of his bodily energy. He has broken chaincuffs around two of his ankles (not shown) with pieces of the original chain still attached*. He also has messily painted symbols on him that are slowly fading off* (removable if requested).

*Story time. You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

He was created by a laboratory as a test for artifical parts, and to potentially make a new 'war weapon' or something equally capable of moneymaking. He was kept chained up in a private room between tests and experiments, and had little contact with living creatures. The laboratory was destroyed in an earthquake, and though he survived the quake healthily intact, he was trapped without any sunlight. He power supply dwindled, and he soon fell into hibernation. The 'natives' painted tribal markings on him and near him as a warning to stay away. After many years, when the labs had become ruins, a stone tumbled out of place and made an opening - just the right size for enough sunlight to come through. His soalr panels stored the energy, and he finally woke up from his sleep. When he gathered enough energy he was able to break the rusted chains, and escaped into the wilderness.

I admit I've done better tribal markings, but overall I'm quite pleased with how this turned out! Please let me know what you think! 8-)
