backstory

sophia has always been sheltered from a young age; and she's also known her place in this world from the moment she was born and could comprehend speech in a meaningful way. she's a lady in waiting; in line to take the throne should something truly terrible befall their beloved magister lunare. she was educated in reading, writing, calligraphy, and water magic, from an incredibly young age. as soon as she was even a little bit older, she was being educated on manners, politics, and the laws surrounding the court and the office of magister and empress.

sophia has always been told that she's 'lucky' for the position she has; there are thousands of ponies whose lives would be changed in her position. however, she cannot shake the feeling that she was destined to do something else. to be someone else; or somewhere else. that might have something to do with the chance near-meeting she had with a handsome stranger that she was forbidden to meet, but she digresses. being homebound, forced to study law after law, practice wave after wave of water magic, is the life she's resigned to.

personality

sophia has always been a little bit on the sappy side, thinking and feeling deeply. this often expresses itself in elaborate poetry that will often spill out into day to day speech if she's not allowed near pen and paper. in addition to that, she can often be quite morose about her feelings, and she tends to have a defeatist personality due to her parents' overbearing nature. despite this, the few friends she does have, she's very loyal and loving towards them, willing to do just about anything for them to make them happy.

eteri - best friend
eteri is sophia's best, and quite frankly, only close friend. eteri is allowed near sophia as their parents are quite good friends; and sophia cherishes the freedom eteri brings. it is unfortunate, of course, that to sophia, eteri means freedom, as she could mean more than just the budding friendship they have. however, sophia is fiercely loyal to eteri, and as she's the only main contact to the outside world most days, sophia is often seen writing to eteri frantically and frequently.


metamo - friend
metamo isn't well known by sophia, but she thinks he's a pretty nice horse. he's a friend of eteri's, so therefore, he's a friend of hers. she was more than willing to show off her strong water magic in order to help him and eteri train; beyond that, she doesn't know him that well, and as he's questing and training, there's very little opportunity to do so.
