he almost always sees the best in people/places/situations, choosing to ignore their flaws- when he goes to the beach, he ignores the smell of dead fish and focuses on the wonderful scent of salt water on the breeze, and the softness of the sand beneath his paws.
I suppose it could be called ignorance instead, but being an optimist myself, I’m going to use the word positive.

one of Seagers favorite things to do is carve seashells- showing both his patience and his creativity. practice makes perfect, and man has he practiced- it took years for him to get to his level of skill, but he thinks it’s worth it. it’s now his way of making a living, sitting for hours working on a new creation and then selling them for only fifty cents apiece.

however, despite his positive trait, he always sees the worst in himself and everything he creates, the opposite of his outlook on the rest of life. when he looks at his carvings, all he sees are the tiny imperfections, and he chooses to ignore the rest. he often stays up late trying to perfect all of his carvings, but there’s one he just left as it was, because it reminded him of his past- it was a supposed to be a picture of a toy boat being swept out to sea, but it somehow looked more like a baby. so he tweaked it ever so slightly, so it looked like a half-decent carving, and he left it.

the reason it reminded him of his past was because he was found washed up on the beach as a child, and no one knew who he was- it’s how he got his name, meaning ‘Sea-Fighter’. he was half drowned but still kicking and trying to get to shore, after who knows how long he had been stuck helpless in the relentless waves.
