I wanted to go ahead and post my WIP entry in hopes of getting some input from the contest creator!
My idea is these are called "Nimbus Mutts" or "Nimbus Dogs" or something along those lines. Basically they're dogs born with a cloud attached to their tail, although as infants their clouds are extremely small. As adults, they can use their clouds to fly. When they are sad, their cloud turns a little darker and it starts to rain. The color of the cloud matches the color of the star in their chest.
Anyway - I know you said you dislike fluff so I can remove some of the fur tufts and make them a more sleek, short-furred canine.
It includes teen lines and nursery lines, although I made the nursery lines SUPER small because I didn't know how many you plan to allow in a litter. With the current size, you can fit 9 of them to a page, allowing for a normalish sized dog litter. However, if you only want one or two offspring per litter than I can erase this layer and make new nursery lines.
I have some small edits to make to the lineart still, but I wanted to get your opinions on it in general before I do the lock alpha color layers. If it will fit, for each stage of growth there will be a Cloud + Star layer and a body layer for coloring, allowing you to color them separately.
