Venus is the lost princess of the star kingdom. When she was found in Cloudsdale she looked like a plain little blue pegasus filly. Her markings had disappeared and the blue in her mane had not yet appeared. Everyone was so surprised by her appearance that they didn't even notice the tiny tattoo on the inside of her right foreleg.

Venus grew up as a regular pegasus would have. Soon after starting school, she became fascinated by the night sky and, more specifically, stars. For her birthday that year, her parents got her a telescope. She would watch the stars for hours each night as soon as they appeared and saw pictures no one else could see.

One night, she wanted an even closer look at the star pictures. She flew up to the highest cloud she could find and lay there all through the night, watching the stars dance. Exhausted after staying up all night, she went home without even realizing she had seen something that would change her life forever.

As she slept, her dreams were filled with the same images created by the dancing stars. They told the story of a lost princess found again, but she only saw ponies playing and having fun for she was still young. When she awoke later that day she hopped out of bed and carefully drew out the pictures she had seen in the exact sequence she had seen them.

She flipped through them many times until she saw the story behind them. Venus had always wondered why she had the strange 'marking' on her right foreleg and had learned to ignore the one thing that made her different, until she saw it on one of the ponies in her star pictures. The same image was next to that of a cluster of stars she had come to know as the constellation of 'pegasus' while studying stars.

With a look at her usually blank flank, she saw the same constellation there with a faded dark blue background. Other markings started to appear on her coat as well. She had similar markings on her left foreleg and wings. There were even faded markings on her face. She was frightened by this sudden change, as were her parents. But Princess Celestia had long-since known about the disappearance of the star kingdom's princess and was not surprised to hear about a pegasus with strange markings suddenly appearing.

A day later, Celestia met with Venus and her parents. She explained to them about who Venus truly was, confirmed by her sudden appearance of markings. Withe her parent's agreement, Venus went with Celestia to the star kingdom where she was reunited with her parents and her people. Her parents welcomed her with open hooves and held a celebration in honor of her return.

Never had Venus felt so welcome as she did among the ponies of the star kingdom. She started practicing in her abilities and is now known across all of Equestria for her unique ability to read destinies in the stars. She even reads the stars for the other princesses of Equestria when she is asked.

you can change the name. it just seemed to fit her, but I'm sure there are many names that would suit her.
