Own This Species {Contest} - My Entry :: Jibs

Postby Puffee » Sun Apr 07, 2013 5:17 pm

Ok. So, first off, I wanted to show many exapmles of designs they can have, so I decided to colour them all with differet designs, incase you were wondering. ^w^
If I win, I plan on making them an adoptable species, and would of course make you an artist. <3
Also, below the form (the form's in the quote), is just a bit of an explanation on the species - what I would use for an adoption center. c:

    Species Name:
    Plural form; Jibs. Singular; Jib.
Small and simple, Jibs, [or Jiblleoues] are actually sails on a boat. However, these creatures were not named for that, they were named due to their call, a "Jib". The scientific name, Jiblleoues, was made up by myself, as was Jibs, only later did I find they were sails.

    Habitat:
Jibs can live practically anywhere. Their ideal habitat would be somewhere near water and large amounts of plants. Jabbles have been sighted all over the world, so no matter where you live you can spot one.
Generally, Jibs live underground or in trees, due to predators. And some even live with humans, or other animals. Due to the lack of hind legs, Jibs have extremely powerful front legs, paws, and claws. They use their claws to dig into tree bark, and pull themselves up to climb trees. They keep their tail wrapped tightly around the tree trunk or branch so they don't fall. When they dig tunnels underground, they basically just scrape their paws along the ground, pushing the dirt away. They do this at a fast pace, and dig quickly. They usually dig around 3 metres [about 9 feet, ten inches] deep, before making a small cavern which they eat, sleep and live in. However, they do come out of their homes.

    Diet:
Jibs eat a variety of foods. They are omnivores, so they can eat vegetation and meat. However, they cannot eat candy. Jibs have poor immune systems, and very sensitive teeth. If they were to eat a single square of chocolate they'd get teeth aches, cavities, and even mold on their teeth. They can also come down with nasty diseases. Due to this, they stay well away from junk food, and eat plenty of other, healthy food. This way they stay in top condition. Their most common source of food is small nuts, berries, grass or leaves, and insects or bugs. Occasionally, they'll sneak some bird eggs, fish, small animals, fruit, vegetables into their diet too. They also love a good home-cooked meal.

    Size:
Jibs are around the size of either cats, rabbits, or possums, not including their tail. With the extension of their tail, they'd be around the size of a wolf. As they grow older, they're bodies become bigger. As a newborn, they're around the size of a human hand, the tail acting like a finger.

    Coloration/Markings:
Jibs are most commonly natural coloured. The next most common Jibs have natural colours mixed with unnatural colours. And the finale type of Jibs are slightly rarer and are all unnatural in coloration. It seems Jibs can have a maximum of five fur colours, though most will just have three, which is the minimum. This does not include their eye colour. As for markings, Jibs can have any types of markings, from very basic, to quite complex. It is rare to see one without markings, though. Jibs always have the same coloured skin though, Ferra [#785252]. Their eyes can be any colour, but their eye whites are usually white. As a newborn, they have no markings, so as they grow older their markings develop.

    Behaviour:
Jibs are known to be very playful creatures. They love to run around, and play games with one another. They are excellent climbers and diggers, and they can run and bounce quite well, also. They run using their front legs and their tail, running as a normal animal would, replacing hind legs with a tail. They can also use their strong tails to bounce around, but they rarely do this, as it takes up a lot of energy. When standing still, they either support themselves entirely with their tail, or stand on their tail and their front legs, much like four legged animals. Jibs also love to swim, and use their tails as fins to glide through the water. They are very active little creatures.
Personality wise, Jibs are very kind-hearted. It is uncommon to see one who is mean, but it is not rare. Jibs are quite sociable, and love friends. They particularly like humans, and call them the 'companions'. Jibs emotions can change quickly. They are very easily excited, but can become upset just as easily. Most Jibs are very caring creatures.

    Are they domesticated?:
    Yes.
As stated above, Jibs love humans, or 'companions'. Jibs naturally live in the wild, but when they find a human they really love, they will bond with that human, and show a never ending love for them. Once a Jib and a human have bonded, they become companions. When a Jib becomes a humans companion, it will most likely have learnt how to speak like humans. It will have also grow used to human food.

    Other interesting facts:
    Reproduction/'Jibles'
    • Jibs mate for life, and can produce offspring every two months.
    • Jibs can have a maximum of three offspring in a litter.
    • Baby Jibs are called Jibles.
    • Jibs are mammals, and produce live young. They are not marsupials, so they do not have pouches.
    • The mother breast feeds her Jibles for a few weeks, and keeps them in their home. When the Jibles have reached the age of 1 year, they are allowed to leave the home.
    • Jibles officially become Jibs at the age of 3 years.
    'Rings'
    • Jibs live in large groups which all share the same habitat. These groups are called Rings and can consist of up to fifteen different Jib familes.
    • If a Jib has a companion, it leaves its Ring. However it is free to visit to see friends and family if it wishes.
    Uncatagorized
    • Jibs make a 'Jib' sound.
    • Jibs age as humans do, in human years.
    • Jibs can live up until around eighty years.
    • Jibs' fur is water proof.
    • Jibs cannot see very well in the dark, however their smell is perfect.
    • Occasionally, Jibs will have mutations. But this is extremely rare.
    • Ink is poisonous to Jibs, reasons for which are unknown.
    • Jibs can hold their breath for around a minute, and can last without water and food for a single day.
    • Things such as bears, wolves, snakes, different big cat species, and other large carnivores are predators to Jibs.

I'll add more if I think of any, but for now, that's about it.

Jibs are small, little creatures. They have no hind legs, however, they do have an extremely strong tail. Their front legs, paws, and claws are also very powerful.
They are usually very happy, and love to play. Occasionally their will be a mean or unhappy one.
Jibs can come in a variation of colours and markings, most commonly being natural.
Once they have become a human's companion, they will learn to speak 'human'.
Jibs are omnivores, and a normal diet of a Jib includes berries, grass, nuts, leaves, insects and bugs, bird eggs, fish, other small animals, and normal fruit and vegetables. They also love to eat human food, but they cannot eat sweets.
Their natural enemies include things such as snakes, bears, wolves, and big cats. Basically they are prey to all carnivores bigger than them.
Jibs live for around eighty years, and make a "Jib" sound.

Okay i have gone through and looked at this! i love it! here are my notes:

1) in the Diet section mold is spelled incorrectly
2) underground is one word (common mistake ;) ) in the section about Habitat you spelled it as two words
3) still in the portion about Habitat you switched some letters around in the word ground
4) in the section of Colorations/Markings you forgot the s in basic

i might have missed a couple writing mistakes XD.

However i am glad to tell you that i could find nothing else wrong with your writing portion! I found it VERY original and creative though, i have to say, we run on the same train of though because i had something similar to "companions" in my post! lol
