sunrise or sunset?;
Sunrise has always been my favorite time. For many, many reasons. For one, have you ever taken the time to look at the sky? The way the dark blue hues of night become slowly overtaken, chased across the sky by myriads of color, all led on their chase by the chariot of brilliance we call the sun. It’s a beautiful, magical scene. No one, not in their right mind anyway, could honestly tell you otherwise.
But... there’s more to the sunrise than its beauty. Sure, it may be a perfect sight to see, but it is much, much more. A sunrise is a new beginning. A sunrise is a new moment, chasing the darkness away. It is the time for change, for losses to be forgotten, for the pain to drift away as old wounds are driven to healing by a new dawn.
A sunrise is a new day, a new me. A sunrise is the freedom to always be who I want to be.

sunrise or sunset?;
sunrise or sunset,
matter no more
for the skies are under my domain,
for i paint the change of the sky on my body
so that you all may smile
and grin,
at the beautiful colors at the change of the era
though i fear of the day where it all turns grey,
when it all comes to an end.
sunrise or sunset,
it matters of course
for those who run under it
and cry in its glory
and for those who fear
oh deeply fear
the dark of the night
and the bright of the morn.
sunrise or sunset,
perhaps it does matter,
for my fur that turns grey
and looses with age
or when my eyesight turns bleary
or my senses grow dull
i'll still paint the skies for you
my dearly beloved
my precious legacy of mine.
sunrise or sunset,
maybe it's time,
though it matters so much
the morn has to pass
the eve has to set
my times at its end
and i promise i'll be back
maybe not the same
as i was as before
but this promise i will keep.
i promise my dears
so
look up at the sky
wherever you may be
and at the morn or the eve
for now it may be ashen and gone
but my promise still stands
and my paints are waiting
for the day i come home
to the skies above.
sunrise or sunset
i have decided it matters
sunrise or sunset
i've always been here
watching from afar
sunrise or sunset
it shall always be
sunrise or sunset
for i swear on my name
no matter sunrise or sunset
sunrise,,,
or,,
sunset,
(word count; 278)
at sunrise and sunset,
reese will dutifully paint their fur different colors
along with the world's skies
as they resonate and connect
with the world itself.
reese is the guardian of the world
silently protecting and watching over
since the very beginning
adoring the worlds inhabitants
having learnt so much
and gained so much wisdom,
reese has notes on the world
updating them with new knowledge daily
and their luminescent paints
radiate warmth and hope
letting his decedents
-who carry their legacy throughout the ages-
have a moment of calm
at morn
and at eve.
for the dawn that always comes
the morning dew will shine
with the suns morning rays
the frost will slowly melt away
leaving only the stalks of fresh grass
for the night that draws near
and the shadows
that grow each passing minute
and the darkness that curls
with the moon
that drags out the tides
for the air
that fills the earth with life
for the birds
that sing with each new morn
for the plants
that grow and nourish
for the creatures
that roam the world
their brushes brake
their paints dry
and the world shifts
the colors fade till they're renewed
so reene keeps renewing his paints
in order to keep his promise
so that the next generation
shall not be shroud in darkness
for eternity and beyond.

"you look at her as if she were a star"
"that's because she is one."
when solene was ten, she made a wish.
it was on her birthday, sun setting in the distance, closing her eyes and blowing out the candles placed carefully onto her white-iced cake her mother made. 'i wish for a friend' she had thought, running it over and over again as though it were recorded, hoping that if she wished for it enough, it would come true.
-
it was a warm winter's night when solene was fourteen. she pressed her forehead to her frosted window, warm breath fogging up the glass more than what it already was. the sun was only just setting, casting a warm orange glow over the horizon.
there once was an old book of hers that had told of wishes being placed on the first star seen in the sky and naturally, solene latched onto the idea. it spoke of love, contentment and happiness; something solene was yet to truly experience.
so she waits, admiring the sunset and scanning the sky for the star, wish ready in mind. once it appears, twinkling and whispering its secrets to solene. she closes her eyes and mouths the words; 'i wish someone would love me as wholly as i would love them.'
every time, she wishes for the same thing. if only it soothed her aching heart.
-
that night, stardust gathered and a celestial being drifted down from its place in the sky. a shooting star, if you will, landed on earth with a graceful touch. a wish had been granted.
-
standing in front of solene was the most beautiful being she had ever seen
solene was sixteen now, finally growing into her lanky limbs & awfully awkward physique. though she had grown, her lonely self still stayed. it seemed that friendship and the kalon simply did not mix. (and she ruins herself over it, always asking why, why, why, but no answer ever comes.)
knowing this, solene was often swayed from any social interaction; fearing the worst tends to eat you alive. however, solene found herself drawn to the other, legs almost on autopilot as she stalked her way to the kalon.
the other seemed to see this, and rather than walk away or completely ignore the girl, she smiled. solene's heart raced.
"you're beautiful." she breathed.
"I- I could say the same!" the kalon- whose voice was as soft as starlight- responded, smile still on her face. "you have such nice eyes."
solene blushed and turned her head, mumbling something under her breath. the white kalon spoke up again then, wording shaky & foreign on her tongue, but confident nonetheless.
"i am eira," she started, gently turning solene's head to face her, tipping her chin up and cupping her cheek. "and I've waited so long for this moment solene. my dear, dear solene. i can finally grant your wishes."

"Smidvarg?" the young kalon says, his gentle green eyes looking at Persephone ques-
tioningly. Sam wasn't sure what 'Smidvarg' meant, but he was determined to find out.
Persephone let out a gentle, happy sigh. "Where I'm from, it means 'sunset'... some-
thing I've longed to see my whole life..."
Sam thought for a moment. "Why haven't you seen the sunset before?" he asked, his
tone curious. "Oh, that's easy," Persephone began, beaming a smile at Sam, "Where I'm
from, we don't have a sun, so we don't get to witness beautiful sunsets or sunrises..."
The male kalon tried to understand, but in all honesty, he didn't. But he still tried to offer her sympathy. "Well,
I'd be willing to stay here with you until sunset. And meet here again in the morning for the sunrise?" Sam off-
ered, a gentle smile grazing his lips.
Persephone's eyes grew wide with shock, her jaw dropping slightly. No one had ever offered her such kindness.
For a moment, their eyes met, and she felt heat rise to her cheeks. She broke the eye contact and asked, "You'd
do that for me?" She looked at him again, this time with confidence. Sam nodded, heat rising to his own cheeks.
For hours they waited and talked, until finally, the moment arrived. A hush fell over the two as sun began to set.
The beauty that Persephone witnessed was indescribable. When night finally fell, she babbled incoherently, as she
was incapable of speech after witnessing such a sight.
Sam chuckled at her incoherent speech and watched her as she danced about in pure joy. Watching her, he realized
something. He had fallen in love with her. She had also fallen in love with him. "Sam?" she said, trying to gain his
attention.
He looked at her. She had no clue how to tell him what she wanted to. "I ... I grá you..." she said, using her alien
language. He tilted his head in confusion. "Sorry, that was in my alien tongue... I ... I love you ..." she said, looking
away.
Sam's eyes were the ones that widened this time. He blinked a few times then walked towards her. He cupped her
face in his hands and planted a kiss on her lips. She jumped at first, but leaned into it, her cheeks a vibrant red.
"I love you too," he said as he pulled away, a wide smile on his lips. Persephone swore she could hear her heart
pounding in her chest, but she smiled back at him.
The rest of the night they stayed up and talked, until sunrise, where Persephone again marveled at the sight.
Her heart was full and she was happy for the first time in eons. [457/500]
