" Mockingjay's are a combination of a Jabberjay and a Mockingbird. A Jabberjay is a Mutt created by the Capitol to eavesdrop on rebels. But when the rebels figured this they sent the birds false information. The Jabberjays were then left to die in the wilderness. Instead they mated with female Mockingbirds since they were an all male species.
