Alright :3 I only have a bit of the story, because quite a bit of it depends on how the main character would act. But heres what I do have:
So twilight was working with a potion, and she had to go to the store and pick some supplies up. As she was gone, derpy hooves stopped by, and was looking for twilight. Because of her crossed eyes, she doesn't have a good sense of depth. She bumped twilight's table, and a potion fell over, and a drop landed in the other potion. When twilight got back, she didn't notice that the potion was tipped over, and she continued with her potion. When she added the last ingredient, a puff of green smoke floated up, and carrottop inhaled some of it. Her eyes turned milky white, and she started hobbling over to roseluck, and bit her. Ect ect ect, the ponies are trying to survive and find a cure.
For your other question, I love lavanders, greys, and blues. I really do like pretty much all designs, as long as it isn't painfully bright. :3
