so do i have to link all the pets? another prize is uncommons of your choice (50) and it'll take a while to link them all. it's a you choose what you get, so do i have to make a group of pets to link to or link every pet individuality? I'm a bit confused about what to do.

You have to link to all of the pets individually.
This is why we don't generally suggest "choose what you want" prizes. However, the pets must be linked to automatically to ensure that someone doesn't put a pet in the group to tempt someone to join, and then remove it. It's also a way to make sure the contest holder has the pets, or hasn't traded them away.
