Spots are fine, stripes are okay as well but please keep them less profound. Like if the base color is black, make the stripes a darker color as well.
You can toy with the spots, though. And as for what I would like to see, maybe like a nice detailed one with lots of colors, (feel free to add more colors to the palette) but you can keep it simple if you'd like, just be creative overall. C:
