It's best to study the anatomy of a wolf before or when you are drawing one. It also helps to work on certain areas of the wolf- for instance the face, or more specific points like eyes, legs, paws, etc.
You might want to use circles for the head, chest, and rear too. You can see how it works here.
For tips using oekaki, I might recomend putting the smoothing tool at 45-50%, like I do.
