Lines aren't mine
Jake is an old oc of mine, who I decided needed a revamp.
Jake was born in a litter of four, and happened to be slightly smaller than the rest of his siblings. Making him the runt of the litter. Which only made it more difficult for his old human family to find a good home for him. Since those who had come to adopt one of the kittens barely even glanced at him. Instead they were far more interested in his more energetic siblings, and by the end of the day he was the only one left. Days turned into weeks, and still no-one showed up to try and adopt the little runt. At this point his parents were growing worried that he would end up getting sent to the local animal shelter, since no-one had taken an interest in him. Until one day their prayers were answered.
An elderly couple, upon hearing about the desperate situation, had turned up at Jake's old home to come and see him. As soon as this couple came into contact with Jake, there was an immediate connection. To Jake it was as if fate itself had brought them together. Soon afterwards he was adopted, and living a comfortable life with his two loving humans. However, that doesn't mean he didn't have his fair share of trouble. Not long after settling down in his new home, Jake had confronted a neighbour's pet hawk after finding it harassing one of his new owners. The scuffle that followed resulted in a broken wing for the hawk, and leaving Jake partially mute with two scars on his neck.
Things were good for a while after that, until they weren't. The elderly man in the couple had fallen dangerously ill, and therefore had to be taken to the hospital. Unfortunately the elderly woman couldn't bring Jake along with her, so she had phoned one of her grandson's to watch him while she was away. This was where Jake's life changed forever. While most of the elderly woman's family were decent and kind, there was one grandson who wasn't. In fact, this particular grandchild secretly hated cats. Especially Jake. Therefore, it was only Jake's misfortune that this was the grandson who came to watch him.
And much to Jake's horror, the grandson then proceeded to chase him out of the house. All while throwing dinner plates at him and calling him vulgar names. Due to being young and afraid, Jake hardly paid attention to where he was going. It wasn't until he came to a sudden stop in an alleyway that he realised he was lost. To make matters worst? It began to rain. Broken hearted and alone, Jake managed to find a small box take shelter in. Wondering about his humans and if they'll either notice his disappearance or believe whatever lie their grandchild tells them. Before crying himself into restless slumber.
This was how Jasper, a stray cat, found him. Before taking the former housecat under his wing, and teaching him on how to survive in the wild. However, little did either of them know, that this was just the beginning of many of their future adventures.
