your best friend when doing roans is the airbrush tool, trust me!
you should go with a very light version of your base color for roaning and feel it out from there (make it lighter, darking, whatever you got to do), i usually go to the middle-ish (more towards the top left) of the spectrum in the color box you have available

it's very helpful !! you can experiment with your techniques and not have to worry about much! it can also help you keep you muse if you're doing it for fun/for yourself rather than just making designs for an adopt lol
