Reason behind the mask: "You want to know more about the mask, do you? Curious things, you humans. You never learn to just leave things be... fine, if you really want to know it's secrets, take it off.. I dare you."

Cyril is a species called Duoani [(c) me], they are naturally born with two beings inside of one body, one sentient the other a ravaging monster. The monster is usually trapped inside the tail, it is the sentient one's job to keep it from going on rampages and inflicting damage.
They are much human like in appearance, though they are usually longer and more nimble looking.
Though it is possible for them to get used to plants, their diet is mostly carnivorous.

But Cyril here was born with a imbalance. His tail was out of control from day one, quickly taking residents inside his head. He couldn't maintain it, he couldn't even control his body, so the others had no choice but to chain him. Many believed that somehow the sentient counterpart didn't develop, thus leaving a monster that they had no choice but to destroy. Though Cyril's parents wouldn't give up. They tried very hard to find a cure, they tried to figure out a way to get their son back, their son whom they never knew.. and finally it payed off.
An odd creature came into town, one that many believed only existed in fairytales. He had seen this before, and knew of a way to keep the sentient one in control.

A liquid made of certain type of berries to subdue the monster's blood thirst, and a mask to trick it, to make it think it was time for sleep. A diet made mostly of fruits and vegetables, which shocked his parents, but they complied.

It only took a few days for him to take control, and ever since then it's been forbidden for him to take off the mask.

There are times when his monster tries to take control again, and times like that he chains himself up to make sure, but it has never taken complete control since the first few years of his life.

Personality: morrigan can be terrifying when she needs to be. While, she does act as a mother figure to many, she can turn vicious in a split second if her loved ones are threatened. If you need information, she's the one to go to. Her cloak of feathers allows her to transform into a raven, & it's incredibly helpful for gaining info. She's actually quite kind, but puts up a front of having no emotions to make sure no one can get close enough to hurt her.

However, if you can get past this front somehow, you've got her forever. She's incredibly loyal, & will fight to the death if she has to. morrigan isn't an easy person to be friends with though, she often disappears for months at a time, she basically never leaves the forest in which she lives, & she can freak people out sometimes with her strange habits. But she does try her best, & you'll never find someone who is more willing to kick some butt for her friends.

It's a bit of a long story.

Summarized: He is a bit paranoid.

Whole bit:
When he was little, he had chores to do and mixed the wrong chemicals. Bleach and (unclarafied for certain reasons ) which was a killing mixture. He was going to clean as he started to smell a horrid smell and started to choke. His mother ran in, seeing the mixture and immediately ran to the back room to grab gas masks. There was one left and ultimately, his mother forced it on him. His mother barely survived but he has been traumatized since then and always keeps it on. He decorates it on occasion since its a main thing of his wardrobe. He only takes it off when he's sleeping or calm enough a good friend to show the bottom half of his face c:

Reason behind the oxygen mask: He has cancer that had spread to his lungs, so he is required to wear the mask in order to breathe. When not wearing the mask, he is hooked up to a portable machine which makes a horrible scratching sound that he dispises. Yurei hates that no one can see him smile because of the mask, so he painted a yellow smile on it, which can be described as creepy.
