I have no clue where this came from, so explanation.
Genes.
About halfway through I decided my Zee has "gene dilution/mutation". Pretty much recessive genes have an increased chance of showing up, and the colors can be diluted/mixed. Simple markings can also be mutated, AKA how the stripes became zigzags. This gene is solely her, and is not passed down to children and is not recessive.

I know I said we would take turns picking, but I am absolutely in love with 1, 4, and 5.
You can chose who gets hair/husky tail.
