Wings
Phantom, the small black-and-white winged wolf was play-fighting with her littermates. Her siblings had larger, stronger-looking wings than her, and Phantom had small, weak-looking wings. "Chaos," A white she-wolf whispered under her breath to her mate, "I don't think Phantom will ever know how to fly..." Her expression was dull and slightly sad. Chaos, the she-wolf's mate, a black wolf, replied, "I will speak to her, Snow." Chaos pulled his youngest daughter from her playing and inside of his den.
"But dad, no! It's not fair!" Phantom wailed at her father, tears already broken out and pouring down her face. Phantom was just a pup, and she was devastated at her father's words. "Phantom, there's nothing I can do. It's not anyone's fault your wings are so small. They will most likely never grow as big as a normal wingspan." Chaos murmured, trying to calm his daughter down. Phantom couldn't take it anymore. "It's your fault! I always dreamed of flying! Now I'll never get to! Maybe if you never told me, I wouldn't be so mad! Dad, I... I..." Phantom paused to catch her breath, frustration building inside her, fury reflecting in the small pups eyes. "I HATE YOU!" Phantom shouted at Chaos. Chaos's heart was pierced at those words. He was heart-broken. His own daughter hated him for something he never did. He was angry with Phantom. He would not let her speak that way to him, even if he was in horror of what Phantom had yelled at him. Chaos puffed his chest out, and stood tall. He slammed his heavy paw on the den floor, and he tilted his chin upward. "You will not speak to me like that, Phantom! Never!" He howled at Phantom, and then crouched down a bit, lashing his tail. He had wings, but Snow didn't; He spread his wings, showing Phantom he was not afraid. "I don't care! I'll show you I can fly! I swear to you, I WILL!" Phantom's voice rose as she said the word 'will'. Then, swiftly, she fled from the den and ran off. Chaos felt horrible, and tears began swelling in his eyes. Snow walked into the den, and hung her head. "You did what was right." Snow muttered in a depressed tone. "I'm a horrible father." Chaos ignored his mate's words, and he cringed. He sat down and he began shaking, his body racking as he sobbed heavily. Snow sighed and sat with her body pushed against his. "It's all my fault..." Chaos whispered, "...All of it..."
It was many years later, and Phantom's wings had grown, but not very much. She was still suffering through a state of depression, from leaving her family. She was of age now, and it didn't matter much to her anymore. She decided she was going to fly. She spread her wings, and her paws stood firm on the sand of the beach, comets shooting past in the night sky, the moon's glow reflecting on the waters. She was ready. Her first time flying, and she was prepared. She leaped into the air, her wings shooting outwards, and she seemed to freeze in time, as she held still in the sky for a moment, feeling the breeze float around her, and she flashed open her eyes. She looked around herself. She was flying! She really was flying! She flapped her wings, lifting higher. Her feather-tips touched as her wings went down, and she kept sprouting higher and higher into the air. She smiled and began twirling in the air, still hovering. Phantom glanced around at her surroundings and smiled, saying,
"I told you."
Well, I really like how this turned out. I like the background, and I made Phantom transparent because it looked cool and I wanted to see the background behind her, too.
Well, at the last part, I was listening to 'Let it Go' from the movie 'Frozen'.
