I needed more characters for a little story I'm writing (mostly describing the background of a girl I hope will become one of my new main characters) so I made a half a dozen fillies to help fill in the blanks. <3 Let me tell you a little bit about each of them!
The first girl is Claire Amie Awley. She originally hails from Ireland, and her first name means "bright" in Latin. It describes her well, as she's highly intelligent, if nothing else. She's very shy, due to devoting most of her time to her studies, she's determined to make a name for herself in the world by being highly learned and highly successful. She does not want to let her gender decide her future for her. For this reason, she's not a very social creature, but a unique and oddly sweet one. She loves to tutor other children -- especially other fillies -- and her favorite pastime, is, of course, reading. She (being of wealth) has books imported from across the world just to read their ancient pages, and is highly bilingual, allowing herself to read many different kinds of books from thousands of cultures.
The second girl is a much more modern child, Xena Kris Culf. She's opposite of our first girl, being entirely about the social scene. She's definitely a 'somebody', and exudes energy. She has friends by the bushel, can chatter for minutes uninterrupted, and never seems to sit still. She loves watching movies and hanging out with her friends, and dressing in outrageous clothing that other girls wouldn't even look twice at. She also frequently dyes her mane and tail, or cuts it differently. She was born different, she says, so why should she try to fit in? Her odd coloring only intensifies her idea that she's a completely unique person, and needs to live up to that standard. She's also a wonderful singer, and loves to memorize songs -- making her very good at reading music, she wants to learn to play the guitar.
The third girl is Chelsea Joy Javensen, who's sort of your average girl-next-door, if, that is, you lived in an extremely wealthy neighborhood made up of mansions. She's very classy, always polite and sweet, knows her manners to a 'T' -- in fact, she attends a school for young ladies that teaches them the proper way to do things. Rather than Zena's clunky jewelry, Chelsea would prefer a gold locket or simple tennis bracelet. She doesn't wear much make-up, and dresses up only for special occasions, like the balls she attends to show off the dance skills she's learned at her school. Her parents push her to be very athletic, charming, and well mannered, so one day she'll be able to have a mate of her own social level. There's a hint of a rebel in her that wants to break free, but she loves dancing, and generally goes along with what her parents tell her.
The fourth girl, first in the second row, is Iara Echa (her first and middle names meaning "one who saves") Pioli. She comes from a Native American tribe, and feels very connected to the land, she's extremely earth-oriented. She loves living outside when she can, and also being eco-friendly. She often wears special clothing or jewelry to show her heritage, although she lives in the other girls' neighborhood and attends normal schooling. Being true to her bloodline is very special to her, and she hopes to be a wildlife ranger when she gets older, to protect and save the animals from extinction. She's a very loyal friend, protective and loving.
The fifth girl is Ava Olivia Brown. She's the daughter of a maid and a firefighter who died on the job, perishing in a tragic accident while rescuing another little girl from a burning apartment complex. His life insurance ran out, and her mother resorted to working for a young orphaned girl named Henrietta. Ava is a very jealous creature, and often tries to impress Hen, although she becomes very agitated whenever Hen shows affection to someone else. She wants to be her only friend, and although she won't admit it, she is extremely envious of Hen for what she has, even though Hen is often generous toward her. To make up for her plainness in looks, she often copies Xena's style and wears wild clothing or jewelry to try to stand out from the crowd, wanting all eyes on her, just to gain attention, as her mother is often too busy to watch over her for very long.
The last girl is the only real royalty of the group, Andromeda Althea Silver. The girl was literally born of the stars -- named after the goddess of the constellation she simply fell from. A couple came upon her, the woman caught her as she fell from the sky, and the well-esteemed couple deemed it fate and adopted her, adoring and doting on their special little girl. Andromeda, despite not having her cutie mark yet, does show faint powers of telepathy, as well as being able to see through things sometimes when she focuses. She is home-schooled to give her more time to work on her magic, and flying, and often doesn't get out much, but she doesn't mind, as she loves learning, as well as being with her parents and in her home. She knows she's special, but often puts herself down because of it, as she gets teased for having both a horn and wings. She's not a princess, they say, so she shouldn't be an alicorn. One fatal mistake was made when Andromeda was born, however: any boy she loves will instantly turn to silver, unless she truly and heartlessly loves him, and gives up what she holds most dear to have him: her magic.
