This is Huruf. She is what I'm calling a Fenir. Fenir are one of a number of non-humanoid races collectively called Alderesh. Fenir are essentially similar to wolves in form. However, they are much larger, as intelligible as a human, and capable of communicating via telepathy. They are around 3.5 to 4 feet at the shoulders and live around 30 to 40 years. Huruf has a redish tint to her coat. When she is first encountered in the story she is wearing an illusion that makes her look like an aged version of herself. She limped and acted like an old dog to make it more convincing. She is rather easy going which offsets the quick temper and crankiness of her Kocameouian companion Reave. She is around 1510 years old due to a curse. She was 15 at the time the curse was cast. A total of 10 Kacameouians and 10 Aldereshes received the same curse.
