Future: As Water looked back, eager to find another pack, she heard muffled scuffling. She turned ahead and looked. An Elk was grazing along the darkened grass. It let out a low moan and limped slightly. It's hurt. That will make it easy prey. She thought. She leaped and killed it easily. As she sat down to eat, a gray wolf with a lame (twisted) paw came up to her. "Hello. I saw you catch that. Can I have some?" The younger male said. "As long as you obey me whenever you're around." She replied. He nodded. As they sat down to eat, She spoke to him. "Who are you?" He replied almost as soon as she started. "I'm Foalen. Who're you?"
"I'm Water." She said. Their eyes met. Years later, they began a pack. After that, when they were eating their kill, She heard a loud sound, like wolves pounding through the trees. "Run!" Foalen said. As they raced through the trees, away from the pack, she made a quick desicion to turn and lose them there. She sped down a slope and halted. As Foalen caught up, she snarled, "You almost got me killed! Why are you acting like an idiot! All you had to do to was follow me!"
"I love you, and I didn't want you to get hurt! Our pups ar back in the den, starving, freezing, maybe even being stolen. Also, I can't keep up because of my paw! Please, I can't lose you. I'm useless. I can't hunt or fight! You're all I have other than our pups. They won't be able to hunt if you don't teach them. Please...." He said. "Just get back to the den and give the pups all you have. You may not have enough to feed them all, but at least feed our strongest and Tylo. Get there as fast as you can with that lame paw of yours." She replied, easing her anger and frustration. "I'm sorry I snapped. Winter is much colder than usual. I'm just afraid." He limped away, and she followed. "I'm giving Tylo my food. You give yours to the rest."
