It's shiftin' all around me like some kind of ocean. “School? Oh I loved school. Learning new things..learning things that I love! Did I tell you I went on to learn to be an astronomer? Top of my class. They’d never met anyone like me. Funny though, they seemed to yell goodbye a lot louder than hello.” Calypso chuckled.

At the planetarium job Calypso came across some flyers for school. She didn’t think much of it when on a slow down she flipped through them. Maybe it was fate but she found something in there well worth while. She saw the university was offering courses on all things space. So she decided to look into it and visited the university to get some more information and to see what it was like exactly. This was her first time visiting. They did have a sort of school at home but not like this. This university was very grand, or it seemed very grand to her. After bugging some students and staff alike she decided that she would apply for the courses. She had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Luckily for her getting admission was not big hurdle and she went in for the courses. She did realize that juggling a school work load and a full time job just wasn’t working out for her so with a heavy heart she resigned from the planetarium and focused on her studies full time. From there she continued to push herself to go further. A few courses weren’t enough to satisfy her thirst for knowledge about the stars.

Magic exists in the kingdom of Avalonia, although only females may possess it. A young witch’s powers are locked from birth until they enroll in the Avalon Academy for Young Witches, where they are unlocked in Year 1. As the students progress through Years 1-4, they learn how to control and manipulate their magic efficiently, with each “year” unlocking more and more of their full potential. By the time a young witch graduates from the academy, they are ready to enter the adult world as full-fledged witches. Yumiko is only a Year 1 student, so her magical powers have just been unlocked, and are still developing.
