Another reason I wanted him;
I noticed everyone--absolutely everyone--has labelled this design as female. I'm happy for people to designate genders for designs as they'd like, but this resonated with me, the people assuming things about someone. Sure, the design has long hair and beads/pearls, but why is that necessarily female? So I felt I needed to fight for this beauty. So yes, Aki is male. uvu
He is, however, very beautiful, and both happy and proud of this fact. He is who he is.

Akilera is the one who is always
volunteered by his peers for the
tasks deemed 'too feminine for
manly men'. As such, from a very
young age he grew accustomed to
being seen as neither male nor
female, but in a strange limbo in
between. He doesn't identify as
NB, but is fine with being called such.

Akilera, having grown up in a
center designated solely for male orphan
children, from childhood to the time of
his adoption [~12-13], he was surrounded
by young boys exploring their identities
and growing into themselves. Many would
force him to present female, simply due to
their boredom. After some time he actually
became more comfortable/confident and
less of a nervous shut-in after this, and
added feminine apparel along with makeup
to his permanent repertoire. He grew his
hair out, and became known to some as 'the
token chick' of their gang of lost children,
even though he made it abundantly clear
that he fully identified as male.

As was guaranteed to happen at some
point or another, other boys made advances
to Akilera. Take any young, hormonal teenagers
and something is bound to happen, after all...
after realizing that he found males, females,
or anyone attractive, Akilera explored
relationships--and realized his own aromanticism,
along with his polyamority. It was at some point
during his last month at the orphanage that he was
caught cheating on his primary significant other.
A strange, anonymous individual whose identity
was not disclosed to the other boys appeared,
adopting Akilera in a suspiciously streamlined
process. He was the first child to leave the
orphanage for a new home [legally], but it is
not currently known what became of him. I
guess we'll find out. c;
