It is virtually impossible to copyright a name in a fandom as large and unsupervised as My Little Pony. The fact that the name pays reference to a fruit does not mean that anyone can 'steal' it considering it's already coined to a marketer. If the character were the same as Sketchy's and the name had been unchanged than it would be a case of theft/copyright infringement but I do not believe that to be the case in this instance. There are dozens of character, including a gender-swapped Big Macintosh OC, that have the name Gala in their name. I understand that people can grow very possessive over the names of their characters but Hattress had no prior knowledge of you or any OC you may have created and therefore shouldn't have to change her name.

As Hattress did not intentionally take the name, I do not see how it is stealing. There are many MLP ponys, some are bound to have the same name.

The likelihood of someone joining a board that hattress is on while using Gala with a character of similar or the same name is extremely slim as proven by the fact that only one person has stepped forward with an OC that shares it. She should keep the name because it is her right as the characters owner and she does not have to abdicate it because there can be no confusion. The characters are different, the name is the same. On an rp board it would be first come first serve in that respect.
