Past:

Jayla is the youngest daughter of her clan's late leaders, Sojan and Lorena Sek'ala. With the oldest being her sister, Kire Sek'ala. Unfortunately, due to events that neither wish to relive, Jayla and Kire have been exiled from their clan and are considered outcasts. While Kire moved on to becoming a bounty hunter, Jayla decided to become a Jedi much like her mother. Quickly rising to the top of her class, thanks to the lessons her parents had taught her during her youth. The downside, was that she refused to bond with anyone. Even going as far as to argue against teachings that she felt were both unfair and wrong. Earning the attention of Kodarn Crediv, an ex-bounty hunter turned Jedi. Who immediately became fond of the rebellious padawan.

Unsurprisingly the two were immediately drawn to each other, once the time for choosing a padawan finally came around. Thus beginning their journey as mentor and apprentice. Overtime, Kodarn proved to be a very efficient teacher. Not only did he teach Jayla how to use the force, but he also taught her his own style of combat. Giving the young mandalorian both an edge in battle, and allowing her to develop her skills at her own pace. Which only deepened her love and respect for her mentor. Who quickly became somewhat of a father figure to her, the more they trained together. She even viewed Kodarn's troops as her older brothers. Something that deeply warmed both her mentor, and the clones who served under him.

Jayla was roughly in her twenties, when her mentor told her that she'll be given a squad of her own. Something that surprisingly made her nervous. Mainly due to her fear of making a bad first impression. However, none of the squads she had met so far interested her. Yes, they may be the best of the best. But she wanted clone troopers who weren't so uptight. That was when she met Zen, Kito, Romeo, Joshua and Maxwell. Five clones who were going to be reconditioned due to their defiant nature. Never before had Jayla felt so angry at the republic than she had been at that exact moment. Therefore, it really shouldn't have been much of a surprise, when she immediately chose them to be her squad.

When someone went to object to the request, they were met with a fiery response. Due to her past, Jayla knew what it meant to feel like an outcast. To be different to everyone else. Therefore, to see these five rebellious clones about to get sent to reconditioning just for being different than the rest, made her sick. She said just as much to those who tried to argue against her. Surprising her squad with the dedication she showed in defending them. Even her own mentor agreed with her. Stepping in to add his own opinion on the matter. By the end of it, these five clones, along with any future defiant batches, were now under the protection of both Jayla Sek'ala and Kodarn Crediv.

It took a long time for Jayla and her squad to grow used to one another. But eventually, they began to grow on each other. Especially after Jayla gave each one of them a name that she felt suited them. She even offered to teach them Mando'a, something that immediately caught their interest. Zen and Kito became the protective older brothers. Often chasing after their squad members to keep them out of trouble. Romeo offered support and a shoulder to cry on. Often being caught either soothing one of his brother's, or listening to Jayla vent. Joshua and Maxwell were the known trouble makers of the group. Often driving their older brothers up the wall, much to Jayla's own amusement.

Unfortunately, not all good things last forever. The squad was going to find that out the hard way. Jayla had been struggling to fend off a sith apprentice, when everything started to go wrong. No-one knows what had exactly happened, but one minute she was fighting for her life and the next she was pinned to the ground. Only for Romeo to tackle the sith to the ground and get impaled in the process. An incident that deeply devastated Jayla. While she may of seen death countless times, they never affected her as badly as Romeo's death did. It only became worse when Joshua and Maxwell died several missions later. Forcing Jayla to pull out of the main fight, and to ask the council that they give her less dangerous missions. Due to the fear of losing Zen and Kito.

Present:

Since then, Jayla has become the jedi general of a battalion known as 'Blaze battalion'. While their missions weren't always exciting, they still helped ease the fear within her men. Their missions often involve either reconnaissance, data retrieval, keeping the peace or hostage rescues. However, that doesn't mean they don't help other companies and battalions with their fights. Especially if Blaze battalion is desperately needed to act as covering fire. Which has gained the battalion a deep respect by those they have worked with.

Much like Kodarn, Jayla decided to take on an apprentice. Which led her to meeting Zerak. A young boy who had a similar background to her. Many believed that she would grow impatient with him, due to his shyness and hesitance to hurt someone. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Throughout his training, Jayla was nothing but supportive towards the younger jedi. Even her battalion had become protective of him. Often standing up for the boy whenever someone either insulted or threatened him.

What many don't realise, is that Jayla is fully aware of the chips within the clones heads. Something that was brought to her notice after meeting her squad for the first time. She had been discussing a strategy with them, when she senses a small dark presence within them. It wasn't until later on, when she accidentally stumbled upon an x-ray that she realise why she felt so uneasy. Ever since then, Jayla has been secretly ordering the removal of the chips. Advising her men to keep quiet about it, in fear that it will bring them unnecessary attention.

Jayla also secretly suffers from PTSD. Due to the fact that she has seen many horrific things during her time in the war. Leaving her wide awake at night, and causing her to become an insomniac. Fortunately, only Zen and Kito know about this. Which doesn't really make her feel any better, mainly because she feels bad for worrying them. However, despite her best efforts, she knows it won't take long for the rest of her battalion to catch on. Especially with how her men watch her with concern in their eyes.
