Caleb Thomas|19|he/him|Athena|Campfire/Cabin 6|Tags:Aiden, Cresolis, mentions Reese
Caleb shifted uncomfortably in the presence of so many campers that were so overcome with negative emotions. He had never been great at dealing with grief—or any emotions that were less than good for that matter—which was why he tended to make poorly timed jokes. The pang of guilt in his stomach didn’t feel to great either. He listened to Chiron speak with a solemn expression, not betraying the way he felt on his face—at least that’s what he thought, though he may not have looked as stoic as he meant to. He perked up slightly at the mention of the quest, silently wondering if he’d be allowed to sit in on the meeting. As temporary head counsellor, he should know what was going on, shouldn’t he?
He frowned at the mention of the shrouds, glancing over at Aiden. He didn’t like the idea of making a burial shroud for the younger boy, but hopefully it would never have to be used. He took a steadying breath, turning his attention back to Chiron as he began to list the names of those lost. With each name that was said he felt a little more distraught, it was as though he was realizing for the first time the reality of what happened. He shoved the thought away, blocking out the negative feelings that threatened to consume him. At least his cabin mates names hadn’t been said, that had to be a good sign.
He nodded to Aiden as they began walking back to their cabin, scrubbing a hand over his face. As tired as he felt, the counsellor looked a little worse for wear. He was still curious about the quest and what those venturing out were planning to do, but he figured it could wait until morning. “Deal,” He reached out his hand, about to tell Aiden to get some rest when he was interrupted by one of their missing cabin mates running up.
As he turned his head, someone else by the campfire caught his eye—the Hades boy he’d been teasing earlier. He didn’t look to be as upset as some of the others, but his expression was still quite sullen. “Hey, you’re alive. That’s great.” He said, clearly speaking to Cresolis, though his tone was flat as though he wasn’t really paying attention, and he wasn’t. His eyes were focused behind her on the boy walking away from the fire. He dropped his gaze as soon as the other boy glanced in his direction, the art of subtlety being one of his many talents. “Well, I’m off to bed. See you lot tomorrow. Sleep well.” He said briskly before turning on his heel and heading into the cabin and to bed, where thoughts ranging from mildly uncomfortable to dire waltzed through his head until he fell into a deep slumber.
if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

Bay widened her eyes as the girl spoke. She was definitely having trouble standing, just exhaustion, but otherwise didn't seem affected by the freezing snow. She must be able to regulate her body temperature. Maybe that was one of her powers? "Oh, um, right." She backed up a bit before reaching out to steady Laurel. "Um, I'm sorry. I don't remember which Cabin was yours." She could remember names but not parents. "Would you like me to help you there?"

Aydan Tags: Ophelia Location: Outside Cabin 10
Aydan looked at her as she grabbed his shoulder, even though the touch made his skin crawl for a moment he didn't shrug it off. Maybe the people here weren't so bad, he never really made any friends before so interacting with people his age in a friendly way was still new to him. He nodded as she tried to comfort him. He felt her scoot closer to him which caused his cheeks to turn pink
"Do you want me to look for more blankets?" he asked her looking away so she couldn't see him blush. He looked at her again when she declared her promise.
"I'd like to help if possible, I don't know many people here but I feel I have made at least one friend and id rather not see him get hurt." he told her. He could feel the last of his anxieties that had built up throughout the day slowly melt away.

Draco waited patiently by a tree waiting for Chiron's return with the Lieutenant Laika. He hummed quietly unsure of what to do.

Niji frowned as he watched his friend's retreating form. He hoped he found his dog. His frown deepend when he realized he was stuck with the donut.
He glanced at the donut and a random camper walking past. They stopped the camper, who glanced at his hair. "Happy birthday have a donut." Niji said tiredly shoving the donut at the camper.
The camper took it and walked to a gr and up of people who immediately started whispering.
'Great.' He thought.
Niji glanced inside the Apollo cabin; it was plum full of campers and Niji definitely needed medical attention, so he walked into the cabin and curled up in a corner falling asleep almost as soon as he sat down.

Will squinted at the centaur, unsure of what he'd seen. Black fire wasn't conducive to seeing in the dark. Chiron accepted the message and gave the child of Hephaestus his condolences, but Will still felt so distant from all the loss. Eighteen campers were dead. Horace, one of his very own half-siblings, was among them. Yet he still didn't feel properly sad, unlike the rest of camp. He only wished he'd arrived a few hours earlier. Wilhelm responded a final "Yessir." before turning in for the night. The Hephaestus cabin smelled of ash and steel dust, as it always did, and memories of past summers came rushing back. He didn't know any of the deceased campers personally, but Horace... the thought caused his eyes to water. None of his siblings greeted him when he came in, and he didn't greet them likewise. Now was not the time for hellos. Will placed his suitcase at the foot of a familiar bunk, casting a sorrowful look at the other empty bed in the cabin. Horace... Damn, he was going to miss that kid. Wilhelm changed out of his clothes and climbed into bed, offering a short prayer to Hypnos for a much needed rest. For both himself and the rest of Camp Half-Blood.──── Lucy Blitzen

Right. Lucy paused her fit of giggles, the reality beginning to sink in. "Well yeah, but—" She tried to regain her flair, but the daughter of Apollo's tone was notably deflated. "I didn't know any of them, did I?" It was impossible to tell; she and Skylar had been too far away from the campfire to hear the announcements. Lucy tried to ignore the growing sickness in her stomach, mask it behind a casual facade. Her mask was beginning to crack. "Ares amd Hades don't scare me!" she huffed, stamping her foot at the notion. She wasn't afraid of anything; none of the gods scared her, nor did the mortals she'd come across so often in her earlier years. "I agree, we should go to bed. A girl needs her beauty sleep, after all~" With a fluff of her curls, Lucy made a beeline for Cabin 7, wrinkling her nose when she saw how crowded it was with all the injured campers. She shuffled her way inside and claimed an unoccupied bed near the back, away from the campers moaning and groaning. Lucy always hated sleeping in her cabin, if only because her cabinmates saw her in a less flattering light. Still, the day had been long and Lucy was sleepy. Her bedtime routine was a long one, but once it finished, she curled up in bed with her favorite item, a stuffed reindeer with a jolly harness, and fell asleep.──── Aiden Seaver
【✦】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ Cabin 6 | Tags: n/a
❝𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜❞
After their shake, Aiden's expression seemed almost glazed. He wasn't all there, until Cresolis nearly toppled the head counselor in a hug. He teetered on one foot before regaining his balance, returning the hug to the other camper. "It's fine, he murmured. "I'm just glad you're safe. You and Kaden both. I didn't see either of you earlier so I assumed—" a pause. "I assumed the worst." Still, he couldn't help but wonder who the final, missing 18th camper was. It wasn't someone from the Athena cabin, but he knew one of the other cabins would have another bunk left empty tonight. The thought twisted a knot in his stomach. Aiden didn't say much else to his cabinmates; like he told Caleb, he'd address his role in the quest, the burial shrouds, and the position of head counselor in the morning. He took a quick shower to clear off the grime, and he bandaged his ear after the thin scabbing had cracked. After a fresh change into pjs, the Athena camper collapsed into bed. There were no prophetic dreams in his sleep, but he had a place on this quest.

|Soon|Indeterminably Old|Undefined|Undisclosed|Location: Everywhere and Nowhere|
Things were all starting to come together.
They could feel their power growing as the seeds of chaos They had planted blossomed into a beautiful tree. Soon, They would have no need for insignificant mortals and petty gods.
Soon.
They had played the game with the utmost care, learning all They could about their pawns to plot the best course of action. A little whisper here, a little nudge there. Tell them what they want to hear. Even as new pieces entered the board, They had adapted.
Soon.
The Duat was already in chaos, with the eight most powerful forces tearing it asunder. No one would stand a chance against them - even the gods themselves were having trouble trying to control the situation. The Nomes should also be distracted, what with the amount of demons being spewed forth to overwhelm them. Even Hotel Valhalla was under siege.
Camp Jupiter was... different. They had sent minions to distract them, of course, but the real fun began when Their whispers led Eris and her marvelous prophet towards that pesky little camp. The chaos he would cause there would be... delicious. They could hardly wait. But They were patient, as they had been for many years; lying mostly dormant in the pit. That had all changed when The Vessel had come to them. A mere legacy seeking more power than they knew what to do with. Foolish mortal. Foolish, and yet indomitably useful.
The snow goddess was certainly doing her duty, keeping those pesky Greek demigods busy and clueless to Their true intentions. Then again, she herself was a mere pawn in the scheme of things. What interested Them most was her ally; the one chosen to take the paramount position of opening the Doors of Death. They had placed her in the charge of locating a suitable individual for the job, but a Horseman of the Apocalypse? Impeccable choice. That is, after all, what They were after, was it not?
With the Doors of Death soon to be open, terrified monsters would come streaming out. And They knew what would happen if the Doors became overwhelmed. Certainly, it would take a great many creatures, but They were confident it would happen. There was a limit to the great power of the Doors of Death, after all. Exceeding that power would leave a permanent tear within the mortal world, allowing for permanent access between the two worlds.
They knew this.
They were counting on it.
Soon.
The seeds had been planted. Their power surged by the minute. Everything was going according to plan.
Now all They had to do
Was wait.

𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬☀️
(seventeen;female;posideon)
(packing her things)(tags;)
Caspia wasn't too happy with her current situation, after a celebration towards her recent win in the dive competition the whole mood shifted after a trident appeared over her head. immediately marking her as much more of a burden than her mother initially had thought, the drive home was unbearable after her mom finally explained what was going on. she was a 'demi-god' a child between a mortal and a immortal being, the title made her feel sick to her stomach, she didn't ask for this. what happened to weeks ago when she was a normal highschool student who excelled at water sports, caspia had wasted so much time trying to make her mother proud and now it was all to be thrown out the drain as she was practically getting kicked out of her own home
the night was spent full of arguments, practically begging her mom to stay until she made the sink pop open as she grew angry. water sputtered everywhere and she was made to clean it up, the girl practically felt hopeless. cursing fate and the god who made her, she gave into the inevitable and packed her things. it was rather amazing how seventeen years of her life could fit into two bags, although she didn't have many clothes and she'd leave behind her knick knacks she zipped up the last bag before plopping back down on her bed. she opened her school laptop, researching whatever she could although not much information was found. she knew nothing about where she was going, feeling abandoned and alone she leaned back into her pillows with a sigh. her curly red hair laid messily around her, twirling her finger in a strand gave her a bit of comfort.
hours had passed by, finally getting ready she threw on an old swim t-shirt and some sweats. looking out the window she groaned, snow covered the streets and the tops of buildings, as if to kick her in the face while she was already down. grabbing her school's varsity jacket as she closed her door, looking at it one last time not quite knowing when she'd return. her mom sat at the kitchen table, looking at her daughter with a petty look of disgust. no words were exchanged as she kept her head down, flicking her lucky coin in-between her fingers as a way to keep her occupied. they headed out of the apartment building, hopping in the same car she had been celebrating in last night before all of this..
she leaned on the window as they drove, watching people walk through the snow covered sidewalks the cold bitter air seeping through the door. she felt hopeless about her situation, her mom sending her off to some camp with 'people like her' so they're just a bunch of weirdos, although she was a weirdo now too. biting her lip as she continued to play with her little coin, her mind trying to go anywhere else but the suffocating car. suddenly they came to a stop, caspia looked out the window just seeing more snow and a bit of a building up ahead? she looked to her mom in the driver's seat "you'd better get going, this is as far as I can take you." her mother spoke bitterly, ushering her out of the car. "you've got to be kidding me." caspia spat, her shoes slowly getting soaked by the snow as her mom drove off. swinging her bag over her shoulder she walked, muttering curses to the snow and everything else that bothered her.

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Campfire --> Cabin 20, Tags: Lucy --> None, Mentions: None
Skylar rolled her eyes as the girl flounced away. The girl acted a bitt childish as she proclaimed Ares or Hades didn't scare her. Then she announced she would go to bed, and off she went. Skylar realized she had never gotten the girl's name. She sighed as she looked at the fire, she had missed most of the announcements. She hoped nothing too important that she didn't know was announced. She closed her eyes briefly, feeling the exhaustion build up upon her. It was time to go back to her Cabin. She slowly walked over there and trudged through the snow. After a little while, she arrived at her beautiful black Cabin. It was covered in runes, strange objects, and even a normal demigod could practically smell the magic surrounding it. Wearily, she pushed the door open. She was greeted by several questioning siblings, but Skylar waved them off. "I'll tell," Yawn. "You. In the morning." Pushing them aside, she walked over to her space, a magically enlarged corner filled with all her things, trophies, and quest memories. There were photographs everywhere, books across the bed, and drawing of runes here and there. She cleared everything off her bed and laid down, quickly falling asleep.

Apollo had brought his sun chariot out too early for Hu. One downside of having a hulijing as a patron was the urge to be nocturnal, and so Hu never liked to wake ups early. Especially with the last night's trauma.
Hu sighed, and, sending Ling scurrying off the sheets in a flurry of fox curses, sat up. The sun was rolling high in the sapphire sky, and it seemed to be a normal summer day. Then, a blast of freezing wind blew in through the window, shaking Hu to her nerves.
Ling went back to sleep in the folds of the blanket, and Hu headed for the washroom to get changed for the day. She tugged on some thick black leggings and a white wool sweater, then pulled some boots on.
Juliet was still sound asleep when Hu was ready (as best as she could be) for the day. Hu walked over and tapped her friend on the shoulder. No movement. Snickering softly, she grabbed a music player and pressed a few choice buttons. The familiar notes and lyrics started to play. "Yeah I'm the model of a modern major general, the venerated Virginian veteran whose men are all lining up to put me on a pedestal, embellishing my elegance and eloquence. But, the elephant's in the room, the truth is in yo face when you hear the British cannons go BOOM!" There would then be a full crescendo of BOOMs, sure to wake Juliet up. Ling had been woken already, sending out a flurry of angry and colorful chatter. Hu just laughed and headed out the door, Ling behind her, waiting to see when Juliet would wake up.

Laika had woken at the crack of dawn, like always. The snow had seeped into her fur, but barely. A brief shake had sent it spiraling off. She had spent the early morning padding around camp, examining the defense mechanisms in place. There was, no doubt, something more malicious and treacherous than the occasional snowstorm. This wasn't a stroke of bad weather. Laika was sure they had a larger foe than the mere snow deity. If the Romans and the Egyptians were under attack, then something was affecting the whole world.
She had tried to raise a few ghosts, those of some recently fallen Romans, and inquire what was going on back home at Camp Jupiter. However, it seemed impossible to get them to talk. The ghosts just stared at her, eyes full of sadness and woe, but said nothing. Eventually, Laika gave up the fruitless mission and just stood at the door, pondering defensive and offensive strategies in the event of a likely attack.
As the sun started to mount higher in the sky, Laika assumed it was Ra in his sun boat, or some other deity, as Apollo's sun bus was still in Camp. Laika padded into the cabin, trying not to drip blood and ice all over the place, and roared. Her hunters woke, and Laika wrapped a quick bandage around her shoulder and changed into a new Mountie coat. It was a matter of minutes before the blood began to leak back through, but at least there wasn't a gaping hole in her coat.
