Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Forest, Zeus’ fist|tags:CTF group, Orin, Maria|Team 2
Auggie’s fist made contact with the boys face just as he’d ducked his head away, and kept going straight into the trunk of the tree behind him. She’d seen him do something, seen the arc of electricity he’d sent crackling up into the tree, but it had all happened so quickly. She hadn’t had time to react. Auggie had punched trees before, mostly when she was younger and her mom had made her mad and there’d been nothing else that she could do about it. The impact of her knuckles on bark didn’t bother her, she barely even felt it. But she felt the surge of electricity that went through her hand and into her arm as soon as her fist made contact with the charged tree. She staggered backwards, clutching her fist and gritting her teeth in pain. She looked up and locked eyes with Orin. “You—“ She bit off the rest of her sentence, holding back the flurry of curses and insults that welled up inside her throat.

The rushing in her ears was getting louder and her heart was still beating too fast. On top of that it was getting harder to breath and Auggie had a suspicion that had nothing to do with the exertion of the fight. Every time the boy spoke he only made her more infuriated, no matter how calm or peaceful his words may have been. She wanted to spit out that she wasn’t afraid of him, that nothing he could do could scare her. She wasn’t afraid of his strength or his powers. She had her own that could easily match his, and nothing could really hurt her anymore anyways. She’d grown out of fearing pain. She wasn’t concerned about any of that. But his threats were not to hurt her or to use his powers on her. He was threatening to forgive her, and whether he intended it or not that made her so much angrier.

“If you forgive anything of anyone then you’re even denser than I thought.” She glared at him, still clutching her shocked hand. “You’re really just going to see me as one of your fellow campmates? I don’t care if I’m on your bad side or not, I don’t care if you’re so senseless that nothing make you angry.” Her voice got gradually louder as she spoke, and at this point, she didn’t know where she was going with her statement. She could barely hear herself speaking over the buzzing in her ears. She stepped back and observed Orin for a moment, blinking slowly before lifting one of her frost covered hands. The frost was spreading up her arms now, and starting to crackle across the ground around her feet, though it would’ve been difficult to tell in the snow. She was moving more from reflex now than anything, she didn’t know what she was doing but suddenly a blast of harsh, icy air flew from the palm of her hand towards Orin. The blast was strong enough to make a forceful hit if it reached it’s target, and the force of it sent Auggie stumbling backwards. She landed on the grounded, gasping for breath as her vision began to blur.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?

|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Forest; River Boundary|Team 1|Tags: Open|

When Mirabelle finally reached the opposite bank, she forced her frozen muscles into action and pulled herself from the icy depths. Her breath puffed out in small white clouds. The snow stuck to her armour and clothing, not to mention her drenched golden locks that were quickly beginning to freeze. Come on, Mirabelle. You've got to keep moving. Not only was she still intent on winning Capture the Flag - perhaps stubbornly and foolishly so - but she knew that if she stayed still, she would certainly freeze to death. One of the Ares campers who had reached the bank helped her up. Forcing her stiffening limbs to comply, Mirabelle begrudgingly thanked him and got to her feet. Many of the Ares kids were already barreling off into the woods, running around and yelling wildly. The thought stuck Mirabelle that she should probably head towards the medical tent. No, she mentally convinced herself. I've fought through worse before. I'll be fine. Despite the fact that shivers wracked her willowy frame and her teeth were chattering almost nonstop, the Aphrodite head counselor steeled her resolve and took off after the Ares campers.

|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Forest|Team 2|Tags: Aggie, Open|

Juliet nodded when Aggy gave a little advice on battle tactics, shooting her a grin before taking cover behind the aforementioned bushes. She started rolling snowballs, peppering in a few rocks and chunks of ice for extra effect. If all went well, and that was a big if, whoever walked into their trap would have no idea where the snowballs were coming from. With the thick snow cascading from above, the snowman Juliet had made certainly looked like a camper. The armour and sword definitely added to the decoy. If Juliet hadn't known any better, she would've sworn she even saw the snowman move ever so slightly. Just a trick of the wind, she rationalised. Though her fingers were starting to numb, she continued sculpting her arsenal of snowballs. With the aid of her super-speed - Thanks dad! - the barrage would certainly require quite a large number of icy projectiles.

(I'll post for her later; whether it be a player camper or random NPCs that fall into her trap XD)

|Chuck Oakes|He/Him|Satyr|Location: Medical Tent|Tags: Aiden, Jamie |

Chuck jumped as the tent flap flung open, but his heart slowed ever so slightly when he realised it wasn't due to the storm. His nerves picked right back up again, however, as he listened to Jamie's panicked words. When Aiden ordered him to retrieve some supplies, he immediately complied. He bleated nervously to show he'd heard the counselor's words and was already on it. Chuck scurried over to the folding table where the medical supplies were located. He quickly grabbed a bottle of water that stood on the heating pad to keep it from freezing, tucking it into an internal pocket in his jacket. He nearly tripped over his own hooves as he scurried towards the tent entrance.

|Vivienne Isole|18|She/Her|Khione|Location: Flying Over the Woods at Camp Half-Blood|Tags: Ayden (mentioned), Open|

With the snowstorm quickly becoming a full-blown blizzard, Vivienne's work was partially finished. Using her abilities to that extent was tiring, to be sure, but she still had a decent amount of energy left. She called out to the spirits of ice and snow around her, ordering them down to the ground. Those imbeciles will never see them coming. The niphoi took off towards the snow-covered earth, spiraling down in torrents of wicked wind. Vivienne knew they would attack any camp members they came across.
Meanwhile, Khione surveyed her handiwork, remaining hidden in the gusts of snow and wind. Her eyes narrowed in interest as she detected a disturbance in the snow. Someone is manipulating my winds. She knew it wasn't Vivienne, as she was busy intensifying the storm up in the clouds. Using her abilities to travel on the icy winds, Khione flew unseen to the source of the disruption. A boy stood at the centre of a swirling nexus. Nothing compared to what she and Vivienne could do, but still... the boy had potential. She instantly recognised him as one of her own. Might as well do the boy a favour... With just a thought, the glowing symbol of a snowflake materialised above his head. That being said... Khione saw the claiming as a favour to her child, not a courtesy. She would most certainly demand something in return, given time. With that, the snow goddess spiraled away on the winds, intent on putting the second part of their plan into action.

alone - and profoundly so. the dark was engulfing him, a blanket, a promise of an ending, of reunion, of something that was beyond the self-inflicted isolation, the isolation -
but then something hit him, and he lurched. that was a feeling. something was happening. something was happening to him out there, in the real world, the world that was loud and screaming and cold and frightening, the world that could be ending, the world that he had talked about saving once upon a time under lindens greener than the most pure of emeralds. another hit. not a hit, no, pressure. something was pushing on what felt like his chest. something was pulling him back, the hand that coaxed him slapped away haphazardly, the dark falling away, sending him through fire and brimstone into a world he had tried valiantly to escape.

teilo's body jerked upward as his burning lungs filled with much-needed oxygen. his eyes opened, searched wildly for what had anchored him back, and fell upon faces that looked far too frightened. he knew jamie. aiden, but the other one was a mystery to him. he coughed once, twice, blinked a few times, shuddered against the wind that crept through the flap of the tent he was in.
he was in a tent. that seemed important. for a moment, he had forgotten what exactly had got him here - and then the girl, the fall, the view of his father. the voice that had healed as much as it hurt. his father seemed an important part. it was difficult to grasp. what did he say his name was again? it would come to him. his head was spinning. "hello," he said through a strained throat. "was someone -" he paused. "was someone punching me?"

his plan had worked. the electricity buzzed through the branch, taking root in the centre of the trunk and bursting. it was something he'd seen before in a lightning storm - an oak torn apart from its heart by a particularly focused bolt, and always something he'd considered trying out. still, there was no time to be proud of himself. there was still the very real threat of the frosty girl in front of him, her eyes growing darker, wider by the second.

she spoke of forgiveness, of his forgiveness, and his chest started to burn with something akin to passion. he wasn't sure it was anger, rather certainty - emotions that he had not been in tune with for a while were crawling out of the woodwork. "dense?" he repeated, tripping over the word. "i'm not dense, augusta. not for forgiveness. i'm dense for other stuff. i'm dense for acting the way i act. and maybe - maybe how i acted with you wasn't fair. i got caught up in the charade, yeah. but you have no - you have no idea of what makes me." he paused, took a shaky breath in. "the world is at arms, and you're trying to kill me over a flag. you've colluded the meaning between enemy and opponent, and i'm not gonna blame you for that. because you're upset. everything's confusing and everything's a mystery and a disaster and you want that control. i deceived you, and that's set something off in your head, and i'm sorry, but it's the way the game goes." his eyebrows furrowed. "things make me angry, reynolds. but it has to mean something. last time i got angry, properly angry -" he looked her up and down. "well. this is a scene i've seen before." his tone was notably gentler, perhaps from the abundance of violence, the realisation that none of this, the flag or the forest, the jolly jeers and the mockeries, none of them mattered enough.
he thought, for a moment, that his words had had some kind of impact, an effect that made her calm as she watched him, blinking, but he thought wrong. her hand raised, now covered in frost, and out came the blast.

orin didn't have much time to process it, but mustered enough of his carnal reflexes to manipulate a gust of wind to hit him hard enough that he'd be out of range - a tad too late, he realised, when the concentrated frostbite hit his shoulder. it felt like it was burning - a strange juxtaposition to the cold. the gust and the hit were enough to land him on the ground. "augusta," he seethed through shoots of pain. "if this keeps going, one of us is gonna die." a gulp. "and i'm not gonna let it be you."

as he shifted, brought himself to his knees and up to a standing position again, he was confronted with a sight that struck him with the fear that he had not been paralysed by yet. floating, icy things, not dissimilar to venti, shooting from the sky. one of which directly in the clearing, crashing into zeus' fist. "is this you? did you do this?" orin gasped, looking to auggie for some form of explanation. it seemed to pause for a moment, as though revelling in the sight, and jumped into action. icicles like daggers shot from its strangely-formed body, narrowly missing orin's ducks and weaves. "what the hell?" he managed to gasp.

Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|medic tent|tags:Teilo, Chuck, Aiden|Team 1
Jamie brought Teilo inside and set him down, stepping back as Aiden started giving order for Chuck to grab things. He watched with wide eyes as Aiden attempted to resuscitate the other camper, his heart beating out of his chest. He didn’t know what had even happened to Teilo, but he really didn’t feel like witnessing a death today. Wake up, come on, just wake up. He pleaded in his mind. He hadn’t realized he’d been biting his lip again in his nervousness until he felt the coppery taste of blood on his tongue. He wiped his lip with the back of his hand, but probably only succeeded in smearing it across his face.

He jumped slightly as Teilo jerked and took in a breath, relief flooding through his body immediately as he stepped forward. “No,” He said in response to the other boys question, his voice shaking slightly. “But I almost dropped you a couple times.” Now that the adrenaline had worn off, his limbs were starting to ache from the trek through the woods. His hands were shaking as well, and he shoved them into his pockets so nobody would notice.

Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Forest, Zeus’ fist|tags:CTF group, Orin, Maria|Team 2
Auggie remained on the ground for a moment, still breathing heavily. She blinked a few times, waiting for the spots in her vision to clear and the growing sense of panic in her chest to subside enough that she could breathe. As angry as she was, something in Orin’s words had gotten to her. Things make me angry, but it has to mean something. This didn’t. She was going off for nothing, overreacting again, showing her weakness. She looked up, and her cloudy gaze focused on Orin once again, her eyes widened slightly as she realized what she’d done. She hadn’t really meant to hurt him, or to use her powers on him. She lashed out when she was angry, she couldn’t control it. At least that’s what she thought.

She opened her mouth to speak, she wasn’t going to apologize for how she’d acted, but she had to say something. Unfortunately she never got the chance, a whirlwind of ice and frozen shards came crashing into the clearing, and she scrambled back to get out of the way. She looked over at Orin with and indignant glare when he asked if she had caused this, then back at the cloud of ice, unsure. She didn’t know what she could do, could she have caused this? She shook her head, even she wasn’t capable of something like that. “That’s not me.” She said, “I’m not—I’m not trying to kill you...and I don’t think I can do that.” She didn’t sound entirely certain, but she was trying to convince herself that this had nothing to do with her powers. She got to her feet, but her head was still spinning slightly from the blast of her powers and the lack of oxygen. She staggered slightly and almost fell to the ground again, eyes locked on the thing that had appeared ahead of them. She unsheathed her sword, the Stygian iron glinting in the reflective light from the snow as she stared down whatever this new threat was. She’d almost entirely forgotten her feud with Orin, her pride and ego didn’t seem so important anymore as she dodged out of the way of the flurry of attacks.

OOC: Others later!

IC:

Karter Zael | Hades | Tagging: Niji | Location: ??? | Team 1

Karter was late, which was unusual for him, but he’d been testy about going out in the snow, even after training earlier. He had planned to simply slip into the crowd, hopefully jump in somewhere and pretend he’d been there the whole time, out of sight somewhere. That wasn’t going to happen. He’d strapped on a breastplate, but that was the only armour he had allowed himself to wear for better mobility... and on the way in, proceeded to almost run right into another camper.

"Whoa whoa whoa!" Karter's eyes widened and he skidded to an abrupt halt, only a couple inches away. "Oh my gods...I really need to look where I’m goin'... sorry man!"

Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Forest | tags: Team 1/ Flag guard (real), Teilo| Mentions: Jamie

She cast a worried glance after the disappearing Jamie. Gods help us. She should have gone with him, but joustling Teilo between two people would just make any injuries he did have worse. She stood and picked up the flag, returning it to it's previous stance. Her mind was still on anything but the game. She gnawed on a lip in thought, hardly registering her surroundings. In all honesty, they probably shouldn't be playing after that.
Mother? Mother? Her godly parent, if listening, didn't respond to her prayer. You'd better be listening. I meant every word I said earlier. Let him die, and I will take you down, if not in this lifetime, in the next. A frown crossed her face. She meant all of it, but it was still too harsh. She tugged on the butterfly, her mind drifting back to a time before camp, when she'd lived a different kind of life and death. You owe me, remember? She added, more gently this time.

Alex Burns|17|He/him| Aphrodite/Cabin 10| Location: Forest| Tags: Team 1, communications, Niji, Karter| mentions: open

"That's like, so cool!" Alex said, taking a sweeping look at the big mare. He had an idea, and no small fear of horses was going to put him off from it. "Can I ride with you? I'm on communications, so we shouldn't run into any big trouble," He asked in awe, not paying attention to the absurdity of the request. He would look awesome on top of one of those!

He was drawn out of his visions of riding a stead in full regalta by another camper, a smallish Hades kid he'd once referred to as "Death-boy". He wracked his brain a moment, trying to remember who's team the kid was on.

Meanwhile, on team 2...

Henry "Hank" Walker|17| He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Forest |tags: Team 2, Guard team, Izzy, Aydan, open | mentions: Vivienne

Hank relaxed a bit, letting out a sigh, though the kids addition of 'probably' kept him a touch on edge.
Khione's a minor god, I'm sure she has plenty of children, many that look like Vivienne, He reasoned.
He looked back up at the taller boy, but something over his head caught Hank's eye. He stopped walking to gawk at it. "You're not doing that too, are you?" He asked, but it was a rhetorical question. The glowing thing looked magic, and not the snowmaking kind.

Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Forest | tags: Team 2, Chaos team, Juliet, open | Mentions:

Aggy was quite happy to make deathly snowballs, though they didn't fall into her usual arsonal. She found them underhanded, and lacking the on-your-feet thinking that came with a live confrontation. She shoved snow into her hands, smashing them into larger chunks of rock and ice. The snow bit at her hands, but she ignored it, focused on making the perfect projectiles. Aggy might be a fighter, but she prefered he weapons to have a sort of beauty to them, much like Flora, the cutlass by her side.

Niji put Quicksilver in a one rein stop turning the big mare in a dainty circle around the small camper. The boy was a few inches from running into her chest, but Quicksilver just sniffed his hair.

"Are you alright?" Niji asked looking at Karter. "She didn't knock ya down did she?" Niji asked with a small grin. He knew she hadn't, but he looked a bit shook up and talking would help settle his nerves a bit. "Hey what's your name? And what team are ya on?" Niji asked just a little suspicious.

Niji turned to Alex "Well if you can get on her then yeah I don't see why not. She's held more then just a couple of people, so she can handle it. Can't ya sweet thing?" Niji said cooing to the mare.

Quicksliver just swilved her ears listening for any sign of other people.

A jerk. Followed by a cough. Relief washed over Aiden, the boy sitting back and helping Teilo sit up. He'd need a minute to get his bearings, so Aiden would wait to ask questions. Instead, he offered the teen some ambrosia. "Don't know if you've had this before, but it's ambrosia. Divine food. It'll perk you right up." The Athena camper was a little out of breath himself, but he still managed a chuckle when Teilo asked if someone had been punching him. "It's called CPR, you dolt." Aiden butted his shoulder affectionately with his fist. "That's for saving my life earlier. Now we're even." He offered another fist bump to Jamie. "You did good, Jamie." Aiden refrained from looking down at his hands; he knew they were shaking. Although, he began to feel less bad about his decision to sit tonight's camp event out. He passed Teilo some of the water Chuck brought, trying to conserve their nectar reserves as well as they could. "So what happened?" He asked finally. "You didn't have a pulse when Jamie brought you in. You could have died."

Aydan Tags: Hank Location: Forest Team: 2

Aydan tilted his head "What are you.." he looked above him to see a brilliant white snowflake glowing above his head. "looking at...." he said slowly. Was this what a claiming was supposed to be like? His heart fluttered with excitement . "Is that... a claiming? For who?" he asked Hank. Aydan really didn't know many of the Greek gods and goddesses, just the big three. He never found himself interested in them ironically, though his dad would always try to get him to read up on them which made perfect sense now. Aydan's chest started to feel tight and he was getting the feeling of being overwhelmed. Before he realized it his concentration was broken, the harsh winds and snow completely stopped for a split second like a calm before a storm. Then it all came rushing back this time much harsher than before when he was controlling it. The icy winds not only causing wind burn but they were cold enough and fast enough to cause tiny cuts as if little shards of ice were mixed in with the wind. Though, instead of feeling the sting of the icy wind, Aydan felt the burn in his throat. He felt the warmth of tears escaping his eyes in a steady stream. Not only was he excited to finally be claimed, he felt the worry of what was going to happen with this prophecy, and he felt the guilt of not listening to his dad more often flood through him all at once. Aydan didn't care if Hank was witnessing his meltdown, he just wanted to release all the overwhelming feelings he was having.he wanted the tightens in his chest to go away. The harder he sobbed the hasher the blizzard was becoming.
