Aydan Tags: Mira and Questers Location: Dining Pavilion
Aydan's mind was running laps trying to keep up with everything being said. He didn't quite understand everything being brought up like who on God's green earth are these sisters they kept mentioning.
"I... um had a dream... with a girl in it."he said a little too softly spoken for people to actually hear him. He remembered the dream with a shiver, he should've guessed he was the son of snow goddess with how the dream was. He remembered the swirling snow and how the girl cleared the storm for them so they could talk. He cleared his throat and tried talking again
"I had a dream with a girl in it. She told me her name was Juniper, she controlled the storm in my dream so I'm guessing she's my half sibling." he said hopefully loud enough for everyone to hear. He could feel his palms getting sweaty, he rubbed them on his sweatpants aggressively before setting them back on the table. He hoped the information would help the group in some way.

mentioned: auggie╚xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx╝ "double concussion isn't a real thing. it cancels out, like bidmas," he rolled his eyes at her incursion. "do they not teach you this in school? appalling, actually."
"it would blow your little mind," orin said. he did tend to reel himself back when he got to camp. the man he was in his hometown was hardly a shred similar to the mask he donned at camp - far less responsibility when he was around his boys, he found, led to him being what could be described as a bit of a 'delinquent'. he preferred 'fan of adrenaline'. the 'live fast die young' mentality was present in the wake of other demigods, but in many different forms - less pub crawls, more shenanigans with blades. "i wouldn't wanna do that to you."
"brilliant. thanks for the vote of confidence," he said as they approached the dining hall. "but it's gonna add to it, isn't it? they're gonna be like 'oh, thanks for that extra threat, lofts. that's great. you've done a real bang-up job of piling on the pressure here'." he chewed the inside of his cheek, and as they got closer, he felt the anxiety flip on its head.
gone, like it had never been there.
orin stopped in front of the door. "do you know what?" he started. "there's an old saying in my family. it goes back centuries. my grandfather told it to me. his grandfather told it to him. a domino effect. it skips generations, 'cos it's just that powerful. not many people can hold this knowledge, these words. and i don't know if i'm translating it right from the original gaelige, but i think it's important to show that i'm using the knowledge of my forefathers. do you know what it was?" a pregnant pause as he looked to the door. "screw it."

|⟡|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Quest Meeting Group|
Mirabelle flashed Ayden a reassuring smile, noting how nervous he had seemed. She nodded as a silent thank-you to him for sharing his undoubtedly valuable information. Chiron spoke, drawing her attention back to him.
"Juniper?" His voice was heavy with thought. "Juniper is Vivienne's middle name." It seemed that this information had validated the centaur's grim suspicion. "I suppose this confirms her involvement." He tugged at his beard, seemingly pausing to think before addressing the crowd. "As such, it is only fair that I share her story."
Mirabelle thought Chiron looked mildly uncomfortable. She supposed she would feel the same way, given that he was about to recount a tale that was not his to tell. She listened with a melancholic look in her eyes - she knew how this story concluded, and it wasn't a fairytale ending.
"Vivienne Juniper Isole was - is a daughter of Khione," Chiron explained. "She arrived at Camp Half-Blood about eight years ago. But she was not alone. With her, a child of Kymopoleia - a daughter by the name of Audra Stark.
"The two girls were inseparable. Anywhere Audra went, Vivienne followed, and vice versa. During their time at camp, Audra became more social. But Vivienne, she stayed just as cold and reserved as the day she’d arrived - with everyone except Audra, that was. With Audra, she was... kind, gentle even. The only time I ever saw her smile was when the two were together. It was no wonder the... incident hit her the hardest."
A flash of regret crossed Chiron’s face, though it was quickly replaced by a mask of grim duty. "During a game of Capture the Flag, Audra was... well, an unfortunate accident occurred in which her life was tragically lost. As you can imagine, Vivienne did not take it well. At first, she was angry, bitter, and even occasionally violent. But once it had all sunk in and she’d had time to process, she would barely speak. She didn’t even cry, she was just... empty. What a terrible pain for anyone to go through - let alone a 13-year-old."
His tone had become reflective, Mirabelle realised. Sad, even.
"When she left after the funeral, I didn’t send anyone after her. It was not a decision I took lightly - I was worried that by bringing her back here, to Camp Half-Blood, she would never get a chance to fully heal. And that the pain and grief would cause her abilities to become more and more unstable. I had the rest of the campers to think about, as well. There was a risk that Vivienne could hurt or even kill anyone I sent after her, and I could not allow any more lives to be taken in that way. Not to mention what such an act would do to Vivienne’s psychological state." He paused, and the pain in his eyes was evident.
"I lost a lot of sleep after that, wondering if I had made the right choice. I eventually went looking for her myself, but by that point it was too late.
"I never expected Khione to become more aware of her, let alone train her. She had never taken a particular interest in any of her other demigod children - why this one? Why now? The thought didn’t even cross my mind. The Vivienne I found all those years ago was notably different from the one who had come to camp. But that’s probably because training under Khione led her to cut herself off from her deeper emotions. Perhaps deliberately, perhaps not. She became fragmented."
Chiron sighed ever so gently, tugging at his beard. "If you do find her, and she is at least partially responsible for all of this - please, try reasoning with her first. The Vivienne I knew was always hyper-rational - she might see logic. But if you can’t get through to her... do whatever you must to protect yourselves and everyone else."
Chiron's grim words lingered in the air. Mirabelle had not known how the story ended as she'd thought, she realised. There was more to it. But Khione, taking a special interest in one of her demigod children? From everything Mirabelle had read about the goddess, that kind of behaviour was unlike her. Unless she's playing at a bigger game, she realised. If she's manipulating Vivienne and using her to further her own ends... Her heart panged at such a thought.
|⟡|Juliet Pratten|16|She/Her|Hermes|Location: Outside Cabin 11 --> Outside Cabin 3|Tags: Hu & Caspia|Mentions: S'ad's Prank|
Leaving the dining pavilion behind her, Juliet figured she'd go plot some capers near her cabin to pass the time. She also wanted to spend some time with Romeo, perhaps let him out to play in the snow again? He had seemed to really enjoy it the previous day.
She was just starting to near the ramshackle cabin when she spotted something odd out front. Was that a... gryphon? It didn't look like any that she'd seen - the Greek gryphons were smaller and usually black in colour. They reminded Juliet of hyenas a bit. But this one was absolutely terrifying. Red-gold fur, twice the size of a lion. And those feathers... they seemed to possess a fine cutting edge, not unlike daggers. If they were truly as sharp as they looked, Juliet would have loved to get her hands on some. That being said, she might lose a hand if she tried plucking that oversized chicken. Wait - was that a gem it was guarding? Her fingers itched to steal such a sparkly item - judging by the cut, it had to be worth a decent amount of money at the least. Now came the real question - was it worth it to be potentially mauled to death by some giant beast? Huh. Maybe I should run this by Who, just in case. If they were going to get away with stealing it, and ideally, some feathers, then she would need at least one other person to aid in the caper.
Quietly so not to alert the great creature, Juliet snuck back the way she had come. She slowed her pace as she reached the low building of the Poseidon cabin. She stiffened as the salty air wafted past her when she walked up to the entrance, but otherwise showed no sign of her paralysing fear of the ocean. She knocked on the door - shave-and-a-haircut pattern, of course - and waited for a response from within.

In his haste to find someone who could potentially help the dryads, Chuck made the mistake of running on the snow. His cloven hooves weren't exactly suited to the cold substance, however. One quick step sent the satyr sprawling across the ground. He ended up flat on his butt for the second time that day. As he dusted the snow off his pants, he thought he could make out a familiar figure exiting the Dining Pavilion. The Demeter head counselor, or so he thought. Like, perfect! Maybe they'll be able to help out or something. Carefully this time, Chuck started walking in her direction.
When he neared Yuno, he waved his hands to get their attention. "Like, hey there!" the satyr bleated out. "Uh, I know you're like, probably busy or something, but do you have a moment? It's like, super important."

Zahra followed the young magician to the stately building, again silently admiring the soaring Greek columns. The sound of many voices rang out as she crested the hill. It seemed the demigods were in some kind of meeting - most likely concerning the troubles they were dealing with, she reckoned. Amidst the crowd, she could sense Set's chaotic energy somewhere close by. "I thank you for your aid, Jay," Zahra whispered, at loathe to interrupt the proceedings. "Now, if you could kindly point me in the direction of the Host, I would be most grateful."

dahlia headed into the dining hall, placing her bags down. she spotted her sister as she exited behind a wall, feeling immediately guilt stricken as she knew it was time to say goodbye. delilah headed over almost immediately, her face remained neutral as she was rather good at keeping her emotions under way yet she was furious on the inside. "i-i don't know how to say this-" dahlia stumbled over her words, only infuriating her sister even more. delilah shook her head, walking closer before rasing a hand, an audible slapping noise was made as her hand laid on her face. "you promised we stick together, and now you're leaving me." she hissed, her cheeks burned red with anger.
looking at her feet, dahlia's cheek stung as she thought of any words to say "I have to go." she answered, unable to gather the courage to look her in the eyes. "of course you do." delilah bitterly remarked, crossing her arms. it was a shock for dahlia to see her sister so bitter and angry, yet she couldn't blame her at all. "I want to protect you, this is how I can do it." her words were desperate, trying to reassure her in any way. "you're selfish." delilah spat, storming out of the dining hall. dahlia frowned, the words practically gutted her as she glanced up over to mira, her eyes full of guilt.

──── Aiden Seaver
【✦】| Athena Head Counselor | 15 | Male | ➡ Dining Pavilion | Tags: Quest Meeting Group
❝𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚒𝚝 𝚑𝚞𝚛𝚝𝚜❞
Hearing Lucy speak in five different voices and recite an entire conversation with startling accuracy was unsettling, to say the least. Children of Apollo were known for their incredible memory and their ability to manipulate soundwaves, but he'd never seen another camper from cabin 7 use it in the same way Lucy did. Once she finished her spill, Aiden nodded briefly in confirmation. Her story matched Will's, albeit significantly more detailed. Though he had to agree with the others; even if Hades were the kind of god to partner with Khione, it was too obvious. Dora agreed as well, though she sounded hesitant to confirm Vivienne's involvement without proof. Chiron said her name; there wasn't much doubt in anyone's mind, was there? He kept silent for the time being, however, as it seemed there were others who still had their share of stories to tell.
Aydan spoke next, confirming the Athena counselor's suspicions. So he was having dreams. It didn't surprise him to discover that Aydan was a child of Khione. It made a lot more sense than several of Aiden's other guesses, and it explained the hell out of the other boy's demeanor. He would say that was the reason he didn't like Aydan, but doing so now would be in poor taste. All at once, the suspicion that lurked in everyone's mind was confirmed. "Vivienne Juniper Isole," There it was. Clear as day. Vivienne's story wasn't one Aiden would have forgotten easily, current circumstances aside. Hearing Chiron recount her time at Camp Half-Blood filled his head with memories, some more welcome than others. Vivienne's life wasn't the only one that changed that day, but calling the daughter of Khione selfish for her actions now wouldn't do any good. Aiden was surprised to hear that the centaur had gone searching for her after her departure, though in context it made sense. He didn't recall Mr. D's exact words, but given that Aiden was ten at the time, he believed just about anything that came out of the god's mouth.
After Chiron finished, the crowd was quiet for a time. Aiden took this chance to speak. "There's no doubt about it." He stated, looking up towards the centaur. "She's a pawn. Vivienne may be involved in this, but I doubt this idea was hers. She's... she's suffering." he paused to collect his thoughts. "Khione recruited her because she was vulnerable. After she left, she didn't have anyone. And when your mother comes down from the heavens─however literally─and says that she's there for you, you're inclined to believe it. Vivienne never let go of her grief, and so she's been brewing it since the day she left. It wouldn't... It's not fair to her." He looked around at his fellow campers. "What kind of people would we be if we didn't give her a chance? I don't think there's a choice in the matter. It's not fair that her suffering makes her the villain. We're going to bring her back. We already know a second god is involved, which means there has to be something bigger at hand. And if we can convince Vivienne to see that, to see that this was never about her feelings in the first place..." Aiden hated the way it sounded rolling off his tongue. "We can bring her back. Maybe not here, but at least to her senses."──── Lucy Blitzen

❝𝚒 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚔 𝚘𝚏 𝚖𝚢𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏 𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚗 𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚒𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚛❞
"But Hades exists," one camper chimed. More campers followed after Mirabelle offered her support to the unfamiliar camper. Lucy's pride crumbled into anger, apparent by her fists balling on her lap. Aside from Hank sitting next to her, the gesture went unnoticed. "Well," She sneered haughtily. "Do any of you have any other suggestions? I imagine they were overreacting, the Grey Sisters' aren't fond of heroes, either." Lucy folded her arms into a small pout, growing quiet as Chiron began to speak. Vivienne's story was rather depressing, but Lucy found it easy to distance herself from the sorrow. She vaguely recalled the incident and ensuing emotional trauma, but only because she found it irritating to deal with. Thankfully, Vivienne spent most of her time in the Khione cabin, which Lucy rarely visited. The place was like a walk-in refrigerator, and that kind of cold was no good for her skin.
Things were quiet after Chiron finished, so quiet that Lucy noticed Dahlia's approach, as well as Delilah lurking for an ambush. Oh, here we go. She could only imagine what obscenities would go down between the twins. Just before the two girls began talking, Aiden spoke up. The daughter of Apollo found it difficult to argue with his logic, but his optimism was a different story. "You make it sound like it's all black and white." She decried. "If the fact that she's a pawn is so simple, why hasn't she caught on yet?" She quirked an eyebrow, knowing full well why. "If she's so logic-oriented, spotting that would be child's play. But she's being manipulated. Khione's pulling on her heartstrings and giving her the validation she never knew she needed from her mother, but it's all just a means to an end." Aiden rolled her eyes. "You'd know a lot about that, huh." Lucy bristled but maintained her composure. "It's not very nice of you to throw such accusations, Aiden." She glared. "Regardless, the point is if Vivienne is this far deep, there's a chance she won't believe anything you have to say. Not to mention if Khione is manipulating her, she's probably already considered that possibility and put a stop to it."
There it was. The distinct sound of a slap. Lucy tore her attention from the Athena head counselor and her eyes fell on the source: Delilah and Dahlia. She'd discovered earlier that morning from a few faithful flowers that Dahlia was planning to go on the quest, but she'd yet to tell her sister about it. If there hadn't been so much going on already, Lucy might've spread the rumor to Delilah herself, but at least she got to witness the calamity.

|⟡|Mirabelle Everhart|17|She/Her|Aphrodite|Head Counselor|Location: Dining Pavilion|Tags: Quest Meeting Group|
Mirabelle listened to Aiden's words of wisdom, nodding in silent agreement with his proclamations. 'It's not fair that her suffering makes her the villain.' That phrase struck her in particular. If anyone else had been able to feel the emotions Vivienne had given in to during Audra's funeral, they would have known that 'suffering' didn't seem a strong enough word. She was... bereft. Bereaved. Broken. The word stuck in her mind like a splinter. 'The storm broken, ice has shattered'. The first line of the prophecy rang out in her head once more. Audra had been a child of Kymopoleia... the goddess of violent sea and storms. And Vivienne, a daughter of Khione, goddess of ice, snow, and all things cold. Could that first line be about them? It seemed likely, given that Vivienne herself had received a similar one-line prophecy years previous...
Lucy's voice pulled her from her silent musings. Oh boy, here we go. Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Mirabelle listened to Lucy speak. She nearly laughed aloud when Aiden sassed her - and publicly, too. It was heartening to know that at least one other person could see through her charades. However... "As much as I hate to admit it, Lucy has a point." Playing devil's advocate made her want to throw up. Still, the other girl did raise a few good questions. "But -" she added on, emphasising the word, "manipulation is not always the easiest to see." Her eyes flickered to Lucy, almost challenging her to rebuke. "Khione is a devious goddess - remember the giant wars? She was able to manipulate other more powerful gods with just mere whispers and suggestions, pitting them against each other. And if she's had years to subtly mold Vivienne to her will, who's to say she hasn't been gaslighted into believing that Khione only wants to help her?" Her voice was becoming more powerful with each word, the passion and emotion behind her speech building. "I know Vivienne wasn't the only person who felt Audra's loss. Take a moment to think about it. She lost the only person she's ever cared about. What do you think that does to a person? It's no wonder she looked for help in all the wrong places." It took a lot of energy to keep her tone steady. The subject matter was stirring up some rather painful memories; memories Mirabelle would have rather left buried. "Vivienne is just a person, like all of us. A suffering, angry person, but a person nonetheless. Everyone here has made some sort of mistake in their past." She paused, taking a short breath. "Are we really just going to condemn Vivienne because she's trusting the wrong people? In the end, everyone deserves a second chance. No one is irredeemable."
As Mirabelle concluded her speech, her attention was pulled from the group by a sharp 'smack!'. Though she couldn't hear all of Delilah and Dahlia's argument from where she sat, she could almost feel the betrayal and anger emanating from the sisters. Gods, she wished she could be there for Delilah, to comfort her in her time of need. But she knew what she was doing was for the best - she had to protect everyone. To protect her. She and Dahlia were rather similar in that sense, she recognised.
When she tried to turn her attention back to the quest conversation, her eyes locked with Dahlia's. Her heart nearly dropped through her stomach. The guilt and pain in the other girl's gaze was quickly reflected in her own. Oh gods, this is all my fault. Her blue-grey eyes flickered downwards as the bitter taste of self-reproach swept over her like a tide.

Skylar Kakitid, 16 years old, Female, Daughter of Hecate, 7 year camper, Location: Dining Pavilion, Tags: Quest Meeting People, Mentions: None
Skylar arrived at the table just as Mr. D and Chiron started to meeting. She was uncharacteristically silent as she listened to everyone discuss. Chiron explained what had happened that day five years ago with Vivienne and Audra and told the group about the prophecy. A few bold campers started to talk about whether any of this was really Vivienne's fault and if Khionne was manipulating her. But Skylar had seen the way she had lashed out all those years ago. That girl was a destructive bomb waiting to blow. She's shook her head slightly and turned her attention more to Chiron. The girl she had seen earlier at the campfire, Lucy she heard her name was, and Mira and Aiden were all still discussing as Chiron talked. He talked about how experienced campers should do this and Skylar felt a twinge of uncertainty. She was powerful and could help the quest. But like Hank had said, would she be abandoning everyone at camp? She just didn't know. Hey Aiden and Mira, other Head Counselors didn't seem to have a problem going. What to do? She needed to share the information that she had, however. It could help the quest, whether or not she was a part of it.
Yet, right now the discussion going on did seem very important. Mira had started to say that Vivienne deserved a second chance and was being manipulated by the wrong people. But Skylar didn't think that was true. She stood up quietly, submerging herself into the ongoing discussion. "I honestly don't think that is quite true. Vivienne had always been cold and harsh, no manipulation can change her personality like that. When Audra died, Vivienne just exploded. She lashed out at all of us and could have seriously hurt anyone at camp. She had all this rage built up inside, and it seemed like Audra's death was the last straw. Her mother didn't do that, she did. She may be being manipulated now, but she still has that inside her. That rage. She blames us. I don't think much will change that." She took a breath, thinking back to her replaying memories that had been plaguing her every night. Vivienne had almost seriously hurt Skylar with that rage. That kind of rage couldn't be easily swayed. "That first line of the prophecy may just mean she will finally 'explode' and release that rage. And I am sure these partners will aid her in this."
Bay Laurel, Immortal, Female, Drayd, Location: Apollo Cabin, Tags: Niji, Mentions: None
Bay Laurel nodded gently. "I don't really know what would be best. I have never been in a situation like this before. Do you know where I could even get any of that stuff? The wood shavings or tires? The Hephaestus campers probably wouldn't have time to make something, probably too busy with more important things." She didn't know how to feel about those kind of demigods . They could make fire, which definitely scared her and were always touching those machines. She had never really trusted them.

Jack "Reese" Dawson | 17 | Hades/Cabin 13 | Location: --> Dining pavilion | tags: Emmie For his part, Reese was not aware of the relationship between the Hulk and Natasha Romanoff. But he was sure of the blush spreading like wildfire across Emmie's cheeks. He wanted to tease her about it, to say something about it perfectly matching her hair, but he held back, content to lead them through the snow toward the crammed dining pavilion.
"Perhaps, Bonnie, if you're still up for another heist after this." He grinned. Having done most every other activity at camp, he might as well go for it. Besides, he knew a few Aphrodite campers who wouldn't mind, especially if they were just borrowing it. Maybe he could let them apply it too, as a bonus.
She was tucked into his side, and he could not say that he minded the extra heat, even though he wasn't one to get cold easy. "Now there's two basic rules to this: act like belong, and don't talk more than necessary." He said, playfully swinging her arm as they walked. She had seemed receptive to the attention earlier, so he was willing to rev it up.
Really, there was a third rule too, but that only applied in light of recent events: look solemn. He did not mention it, as he did not wish to alarm her more than necessary, but he had long learned that acting a touch remorseful went a long way.Ophelia Rogers | 16 | She/her | Aphrodite/Cabin 10 | Location: Cabin 10 | tags: Celeste| Shoot, that wasn't what she'd meant. She shook her head, haltingly. "Not these things exactly, more of...monsters and stuff." She said, her thoughts running away from her. "They can smell the god in our blood, and I've heard it's tasty." She shrugged. Not much that one could do about that. Thanks mom.
"Hmmm," She said noncommittally at Celeste's suggestion. She'd change the cabin up alright, but it was best not to give Mirabelle a heart attack when she got back. Still, she could plan in the meantime...
'Aren't we all partially immortal, until we die?' Ophelia had to admit, Celeste wasn't wrong there. She watched the older girl, a women really, pick out a bed. "They can only die in battle, but I suppose it's not much different..." than regular old being a demi-god mortality rates. Celeste was already moving on. A fast learner, Ophelia noted, storing the information. If nothing else, it would make her job a little easier.
Celeste was already moving on. The brunette started unloading her bags, which were full of an assortment of odds and ends. Ophelia tried not to look too intensely, but the items in her suitcase, seemingly immune to time, piqued her interest. She considered asking about them, but thought better of it. Celeste already had another question. She blinked, tugging at her necklace once more in a faint attempt to buy time. Do you have a plan? The words seemed to mock her, though she knew that wasn't their intention. Absently, she pulled off half of her butterfly and flicked the wing out into a blade. She let out a breath when it did as she commanded, strangely grateful that it had the expected result.
She slashed the air, expertly, then settled the knife in her hand. The weight was comforting. "I don't plan on falling without a fight." She said, almost bitterly, the words swelling something deep within her chest. She stared at the blade a moment, twirling it in her hand to feel the balance of the knife. Is there any other way to go? Will I...I have to go? Shut up and die like a hero. She sighed, flipping the blade closed, then into it's butterfly wing. She turned away from Celeste, facing toward her bed so the other camper couldn't see her expression.
"Next question?" She asked, her voice light and airy, if a touch high.Agatha "Aggy" Clemson | 15 | She/her | Unknown (Ares)/Cabin 11| Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Quest Meeting, open!| mentions: Mira, Lucy, Aiden Aggy was more than happy to comply with the wine gods orders she had scanned the pavilion, but no particular targets had caught her eye. Grief is no fun to toy with. Only an idiot would poke a wounded animal. She gathered along the crowded table, parking herself between two kids she didn't know. Her attention was drawn to the directors, and she made special note that they couldn't refute her decision. Nice, I don't even have to have mom sign a waiver!
Before long, they were jabbering on about ice, some cranky girl, and manipulation. It wasn't hard to follow, but her attention was caught on the dynamic between the various campers, the way the Barbie she'd met yesterday, Mira, tensed when the ribboned girl spoke up. G.I. Joe princess is not a fan...hmmm...
The conversation was rolling away, a glass-faced boy she had yet to meet speaking up about...well, there were a lot of fancy names thrown in. Hades sounds familar...but who is Khione? She tried to focus, but it was a heavy onslaught of new information, and she could only take in so much at once.Henry "Hank" Walker | 17 | He/him | Apollo/Cabin 7 Head Counselor | Location: Dining Pavilion | tags: Lucy, Quest Meeting Lucy was done talking about the outside world almost as soon as she began, waving it off as if it was a particularly pesky mosquito. He wanted to prod her more, to hear stories of the outside world, stories that might jog up some half-forgotten memories of home. In though they lived in vastly different locales, hearing Lucy talk of hers so dismissively hurt. It wasn't quite jealously, but more of a longing for his own home. But Mr. D was summoning them, and she was pulling on his arm, and he did have a job to do.
He followed reluctantly, but pasted on a smile. A stiff as cardboard, but better than nothing. It would do. He took his place next to Lucy, and let the chaos unfold. He had to admit, her mimickery was impressive. He debated clapping at the end of her rendition, but held back. Some small voice in the back of his head told him that this was not an occasion for clapping.
Vivienne, how could he forget? That night had been 5 years ago, but it still haunted him. It didn't help that it had been his very first game that Audra died at. A chill ran down his spine. And the way she stormed off, that was about as scary as any monsters I saw that night.
His gaze snapped back into focus at the tension in the air. He'd missed the start of it, but Lucy was firing back, fists clenched in her lap. It looks like I have a different type of fire to work with here. He touched her arm gently, actually managing to be subtle for once. It's okay, he thought, and tried to convey it in the gesture.

[✿]Jamie Wallace|16|he/him|Iris|Dining pavilion|tags:quest meeting groupJamie listened to the discussion with wide eyes, staying silent as he took in everything being said. The idea of another deity working with Khione unsettled him, one angry goddess had been bad enough, but he had to agree with the others that Hades didn’t seem a likely candidate. Sure, he was the god of death, but that didn’t mean he wanted more, right?
His worry only deepened when Chiron began to explain the disaster that had happened concerning the daughter of Khione. He’d heard bits of the story before, but didn’t know much as it had occurred a couple years before he came to camp. He turned his attention to Skylar as the daughter of Hecate began to speak, frowning as she spoke of Vivienne being cold and cruel, regardless of any possible manipulation.
“But that doesn’t mean she’s the villain here,” he piped up finally, then seemed to look surprised that he had done so. “I mean…” He swallowed, suddenly remembering his nervousness and lack of a desire to have attention drawn to himself. “She’s still one of us. People deal with things in different ways and yes maybe she was cold and mean before—“ The words felt strange to say considering he’d never known the girl, and it wasn’t typically a way he would describe someone even if they were, but he was going off of what he’d heard so far. “But if there’s a chance we could get through to her...convince her she’s on the wrong side, then shouldn’t we try?” He seemed to sink in on himself once he had finished speaking, not quite regretting opening his mouth, but not happy to have anyone’s eyes on him.[✩] Augusta Reynolds|17|she/her|Hades|Head counsellor|Cabin 13|tags:Orin“So by that logic I could hit you in the head but as long as I hit you an even number of times you’ll be fine?” She raised an eyebrow in challenge. “I’d like to know what school taught you that.”
“Thanks, I really appreciate it.” She muttered sardonically, rolling her eyes. She got the impression he was exaggerating a little bit, though the implications of his words did spark her curiosity. He couldn’t possibly have anything that shocking to hide, but then again, most of the people at camp were probably pretty good at hiding things. It was difficult to survive in the mortal world unless you had some capability to keep things to yourself.
“You’re welcome,” she replied dryly, then sighed when he began worrying about the reaction to the news story again. “You realize you didn’t create the threat, right? Just because you were the first one to hear about it doesn’t make you responsible. You can tell them I found it if you want,” she offered with a shrug, though she was fairly certain he wouldn’t take her up on it. “Mr. D already wants to turn me into a grape and squash me so I couldn’t really make it that much worse.”
There were a lot of voices coming from inside the dining pavilion; the noise made her stomach twist. She wasn’t a fan of large crowds, especially not when she looked like a raccoon that had just crawled out of a storm drain. She looked at Orin curiously when he stopped outside the door, listening to him absently as she scrubbed the cuff of one hoodie sleeve across her face again, attempting to remove the evidence of her earlier breakdown. She stopped her pointless rubbing and raised her eyebrows expectantly, knowing she was about to be told the saying whether she asked or not.
Screw it. That sounded about right. She cracked a smile and shook her head as she led the way into the dining pavilion, at least grateful that he seemed to have gotten over the initial anxiety of confronting the others with the unfortunate news. She wasn’t sure that she could say the same. Her lungs had been gripped with a cold dread the moment she’d sent the Iris message and it didn’t seem to be disappearing anytime soon, the heavy weight of grief and anger only serving to add to the uncomfortable feeling.[➳]Caleb Thomas|18|he/him|Athena|dining pavilion|Tags:Satchi, quest meetingIt seemed that his appearance had caught the girl by surprise, as her gaze snapped up to meet his quickly, though she didn’t seem too shaken as she returned his smile. He nodded, noticing the uncertainty in her tone as she spoke his name. “You got it,” he confirmed. “Though I can’t really blame you for being unsure, I’ve been called plenty of other things. Captain America actually, just now. That was a good one.” He nodded to himself, before his mind and unruly ego were brought back to the conversation at hand.
He nodded at her response to the question, easily hiding his disappointment that he hadn’t found somebody whom he could question about prophetic dreams. “I’m not either, couldn’t possibly risk messing up all this on some larking escapade,” he said, gesturing to his face. “Thought I’d sit in on the meeting though...see what’s going on. If it ever starts that is.” He added, glancing back around the pavilion. He spotted Aiden standing with Jamie, who he believed was from the Iris cabin. They both seemed to be carrying bags, clearly ready to go. There was still no sign of Chiron though, and he wondered where the centaur had gotten off to.
Soon after, as though summoned by his complaints, Mr. D’s voice rang out across the pavilion, ordering those present for the meeting to come over. “That’s my cue to insert myself where I’m not welcome,” he said to the girl with a friendly smile and a wink as he stood up and made his way over to the table. He slipped in at the end of the row, for once hoping to remain quiet and not have his presence known. He had no interest in going on the quest and nothing particularly important to share, he was just there to listen. He’d been a bit worried at first that he’d be asked to leave, but given the almost immediate descent into chaos that the conversation had taken, he figured nobody would bother.

if only i could keep you in my pocket
to give me some diagnosis of why i'm so hollow
please give me instructions, i promise i'll follow
i tripped on my ankle and fractured my elbow
but doesn't that mean that the tour's gonna sell, though?
i try to explain the good faith that's been wasted
but after an hour, it sounds like complaining
wait, don't go away, can i lie here forever?
you say that i'm better, why don't i feel better?
the universe works in mysterious ways
but i'm starting to think it ain't working for me
doctor, should i be good, should i be good this year?
