Wow, it's been years since I was last on here. Hello, all!
I'd heard of the new Amazon LOTR show and I kind of have mixed thoughts on it? From what I saw, apparently they're not actually adapting any of Tolkien's original works at all, but are doing some sort of original prequel to the War of the Ring, set in Middle-earth. On the one hand, I'm pretty curious to see what they come up with. On the other hand, I have...doubts on how good the writing/plot could end up being, lol. Like, the 2001 LOTR movies are already pretty great - do we really need another spin-off of some sort? though tbh I'll probably still watch it when it first comes out, just to see what it's like, and then I'll decide on whether or not to continue.
I was reading the Silmarillion for kinda the first time recently, and it's wonderful and all, but I just started laughing when I came across the name
Tùna. Just... Tùna. Of all the names the Professor could've went with, that's probably the best name ever for a "high green hill" in Aman, lol.
