I remember when at the bottom of the forum, they would list players if it was their birthday and how old they are xD

Super interesting to read, CS users aren’t allowed to state their age, birth year etc

this wasn't always the case! for the first two or so years of the site, users were allowed to.
i can confirm via wayback archive {and my own memory} that animall's information is true!

some information that i was surprised wasn't on here - in the very early days, the site used to have a chatroom!
if i'm remembering correctly, it was an xat chat - though i faintly recall it being what seemed like some sort of self-hosted chat, at one point? or at least not any chat service i was used to at the time.
i kind of feel like i remember the chat getting swapped around a lot, but i can't say that part with certainty

Do you guys think the first time a butterfly wolf and wolf had a litter is interesting / significant enough to add!

The first BW & wolf pairing(s) are from Medieval Event 2011:

It looks like they were token trade-ins x

These two litters and the one you mentioned I believe are the only ones

this is correct. there is another wrong information in the main post - "Butterfly wolves were released in 2009", butterfly wolves were released in 2008 - one of the 2008 URs is a butterfly wolf lol

other significant things: creation and subsequent deletion of the rares list, skelebun being first store pet to turn omgsr, the double re-release (dec18 and dec24) in 2011, the extended rerelease (into dec 19) in 2009, the trade rant thread and things that annoy you thread being locked

Some of the user made adoptables had the Xat chat! Well at least Bat-Earred Foxes by EmberWolf!

Fun feature about Xat, you could enable a blank white box users could drawn in. It was open to anyone in the chat room to draw on. This meant multiple people could draw at once and sometimes someone may draw over your doodle or erase it ^^; I remember when the canvas got too chaotic EmberWolf would erase the entire canvas and we'd all jump back to scribbling lol. I often doodled a little bunny somewhere as a bunny was my fursona at the time.

I found some posts suggestions xat chats were used on CS, but I can’t find any information about the old chat. I’d love to add this in but am a little lost on what to say or what information to use haha

i wouldn't know anything about the FTT xat cause i was mostly inactive in 2011-2012 - but i'm talking about the official chat in 2008!

i can't actually seem to find evidence of the seemingly self-hosted chat i'm remembering - but the wayback machine has the old chat pages archived here, and a much more short-lived rp chat here
while the xats themselves aren't archived {as is the case with the entire site layout from the time}, the "Get your own Chat Box! Go Large!" links that lead to xat are still there

yeah that's understandable! since there isn't too much concrete information about the official chat i'm referring to outside of those wayback archives {and probably some really old forum posts somewhere, but it might be hard to find them amidst mentions of user-made chats}

Nick mentions the chat a few times here and here. I do remember it being mentioned in another place, probably by Tess, but I don't remember where, just that it did exist for a short while.

I remember the FTT Xat chat, too. It wasn't official. Just kinda like how there are some Discord CS communities around now. I only popped in a few times, but didn't hang out there much.

Just found out the General helpers apparently have a possible mascot?? This pet is currently named Kyro and was a pound catch.

Check out the group name! The account is used for general helper giveaways etc.

ooh, you know what else you could mention since i saw the moose plushies entry? the borked headband from '09 august!! i don't know much about it, except for it being a super rare item nowadays. i think it was made for different species than dogs, that's why it looks different?
