Old folks, remember that one time the CS mods allowed us to put offline pets onto our accounts? I was around since July and I managed to get a ton of oldies because of this one time deal. I think it was around Christmas 2009? Can anyone help me out for when this occurred?

I'm inclined to think it was in late 2008, like October or November, because the site was still pretty small back then and we could generally trust that people were telling the truth and I think there actually wasn't an account system for adopting pets for a few months; pets only had individual IDs and the forum was technically unconnected to pets for a couple of months, so I think Nick opened up the offer once he linked forum accounts to the pet system... I could probably dig up a Wayback Machine link but I can't be bothered to do that haha

I'm pretty sure the thread that Nick posted with that offer got deleted; I have archivist tendencies and I usually don't like it when posts get deleted, but that's one of the few threads I'm glad got deleted lol imagine how much more chaos there would be if people were able to easily find that thread o_______o

Notice that I have five original 08's from July 22nd. My account says I joined around 6 months later, which is true, but because of this particular event that went on for a VERY short time. However, it had to have been AFTER I joined since I wasn't around in late 08.

Ooh, i didn't know about that! I was still adopting without an account in 2009. I very much wish I had made an account earlier, or had my pets transferred to one. Oh well, at least I finally made an account about a year later!

Ah, forgot to check your join date xD yeah, probably wasn't quite as early as late 2008 unless the event actually spanned a few months

I am quite certain that all of my own pets got added in 2008 already.

I am quite certain that all of my own pets got added in 2008 already.

I'm a new player, and it's so fun to read about how CS was back then C: I'm imagining everything right now o.o oh gosh what I would give to have joined in 2008... [I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post, as I'm a pretty new player!] I prefer the styles of the old pets a lot better - they're simpler and less flashy...

The old thread has been deleted, as has the one announcing that pets could no longer be added, but adding old pets to accounts ended on February 1 according to this post by Sorren:

They can't be added to accounts anymore.
We have a topic fur such, but it was closed Feb. 1st.

Yeah, I felt like the coolest kid on the block that day my five July 08 pets I adopted six months prior finally got added. I still had my really old computer at the time and so I had to go and search through a notepad of little pet collectibles to find them! Thinking back, I may have had more, but those were the only ones I was able to retrieve.
