We all know why - they're not re-released like other rare pets, are massively hoarded (which is those players right), many have found forever homes, they're slowly turning OMGSR, and 99% of CS traders want them. Whether people want them for the design, to have a complete pet collection, to on trade, or just because they want to own the most popular pets on CS, the fact is that many people are not interested in trading valuable pets these days unless the trade includes one of the '09/'10 store pets and considering their scarcity in the trading pool this means valuable trading on CS is now very hard and slow going.
Honestly I think the only solution to the problem would be a re-release of the old store pets but I don't think it should be via a C$ box including every store pet ever made, as was suggested, as I can just imagine the drama that would create. What I'd love to see is some kind of competition, like in 2011, or even a raffle type system so that not too many were released at once. Alternatively just releasing some through the pound releases or an extremely rare chance with normal adopts, as with the zebras. Something needs to happen as this has been dragging CS down for years and just continues to worsen.
Personally I took a break from CS (apart from to jump on to adopt the monthlies) soon after the list was retired as I found what had already been a hard slog trading wise became a real nightmare and I just didn't see the point of trying to trade in that environment. I've been more active the last few weeks due to the advent but will probably go back to just logging on once a month after the advent as if anything trading is even worse than when I decided to take a break.
I'm not surprised, I predicted this when people were celebrating voting to get rid of the list rather than remake it because they strangely thought it would make people trade their valuable, old, hard to attain pets for more recent, easily attained pets
but if even half the people with valuable pets feel and do the same as me and either go on hiatus or just lock their valuable pets away it's sadly going to mess up the economy even more
I bolded what I disagree with a bit and italicized what I wholly agree with.
Here's the thing: what drama will be had that isn't already here? Just look at the 18th rereleases. People still moan and groan over what they get. Life isn't always going to be fair or give you what you want. I mean, man, my 18th pets are all traded away for the most part already because I didn't want them. Got nothing new or anything I wanted while my sister got a new UR, but that's just luck of the draw. Rereleasing store pets at all is pretty much going to be luck of the draw.
Personally, the people who would complain would need to deal with. Tough luck. Maybe next time. No one here is entitled to get the best, most valuable things when they open up a mystery box, but it feels like some users seem to think that sometimes. Not that they're overtly saying so, it's more just in the tone of some posts I've seen. So I don't think a store rerelease in a box you buy with C$ once a year or whatever would introduce anything other than what we already see with the December 18th event.
As for your comment about getting rid of the list, I am absolutely baffled as to why anybody thought getting rid of it was a good idea at the time. Sure, it was outdated from what I hear, but that's why the work gets put in to update it. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here that I'm sure would have been happy to do so. Instead, people voted to get rid of it as a whole, and now here we are without a single lick of structure or guide, and it's hurting
everybody. All because people didn't see the long term consequences of getting rid of it. I now ask about every trade I have involving my ex-lists, since I now have absolutely no idea what they're worth. It's frustrating, truly.
