Yep, those! My immediate thought was seasons, but when everyone examined the backgrounds better, it does seem like environments are more fitting. No matter what I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love them

Maybe it's about pollution/global warming..?
The pup is gray, but the natural environments on the blanket are colorful+white(which is considered to be a "clean" color).
But then...there is the city.....

Last one could actually be rocky mountains. Mostly cause in certain places, the tall rock structures are pillar like with a flat top. I will see if I can dig up some pics of what I am talking about.
