I dont they they will re-release items, that wouldnt be fair to those wil pay top dollar for an item.
It could seriously damage the economy
Though at some point some items wont be for trade anymore...

Yeah that’s super interesting I didn’t know that was possible to get that number. I had been curious about it too lol.
So I would imagine there’s definitely quite a number less in circulation now?

And I don’t necessarily agree with that. It’s not like store pets where they can’t be rereleased for actual money currency reasons. It’s like saying the UR tiger shouldn’t be rereleased because people pay top dollar for it. That’s the users choice to overpay.
Eventually these items without being rereleased will go extinct, basically, as you said. While I don’t believe there’s any plans to re-release them aside from the new item pound, it’s not as if it wouldn’t be fair.

The only was for items to get re-released is if there is a box created which is a possibility though how it would be implemented would be a mystery and would it take full sets into consideration. We have a box for pets, so I don’t see why a box for items shouldn’t be allowed.

i cant seem to find it but i thought i read something about a box for items wouldn't happen.
something about how it wouldn't be fair if sets and singular items were in the box. lets say one user got a full set of items (the old pumpkin set for example) and then another user gets only one item. the user who only got one item would be dissapointed and complain about it being unfair

tho thinking about it, i would be pretty neat to have 2 boxes. one where full sets are released and the other with singular items, doubt it would happen though.

With the Dec 18 box you also get 1 pet, not the complete litter, so I don't really see the issue with that. You can try to trade for the rest.
not everyone collects items.
But we are drifting off...

Any opinions on the placement for the map?
I'd say low main at least, based ont he trades.
But now I know the number of maps, I think around the gap would be a better place.

I’m adamantly against “low main” because the numbers say otherwise... if we have exact numbers we should use that the most. We need to remember that people are scrambling to underpay for the item before it’s placed. It’s easy to do so because it’s an item. If we cave into that mentality then we are hurting item collectors.

I’m thinking along the lines of “below gap main list” so it’s more open. Realistically, given its numbers, it should be worth 1-2 sorbets at least.

Agreed, we don't want to undervalue it too much.

Remember that the Map is one item while the Cake Set is many.
In the trades we have some Sept list ones, which I think is a bit unfair for what would surely be OMGSR items, and Sorbet offers, which seems more in line with the map's rarity. I don't really see any trade evidence for above 1 sorbet.

Do you guys think we should run a poll for this particular item, or would that give us skewed results given how our thread mostly caters to item enthusiasts which is a fairly small subsection of the greater trading community?

One thing to note is that we have no idea how many other items are out there to compare the map to, outside of the DIY Cake.
I mean if we did some wild guessing: Based on user IDs, there were about 18k users that joined between July and Dec 08. Most have 0 posts so many would not have remained active. If we assume 10% of the 18k users adopted a Halo, that would mean only 1.8k halos around. Halos are valued at Sept list. Is this reasonable given their rarity? This is based on huge assumptions though. If 5% of users grabbed one, that's only 900 halos. But if 20% got one then it's 3.6k. Hugely different numbers. I have no idea how many users were active in Dec 08. Just some food for thought.

The issue with a poll is that people will always downvote it, so they can get it for less than it deserves.

So far people seem to agree on the placement around the gap. We dont have to add a set value or tier, we can also list is as a range.

I think we'd also have an issue of not enough people voting.

So what valuation do we want?
Mid Main List
Low Main List
Sorbet
?
