Two of my side characters are shadow creature items ._. I imagine they are alive and can talk. My main character is a dog pet but his pals are items. Can I not do that?

Not being troublesome at all :) you can absolutely incorporate items in as side characters - as long as your story features AT LEAST one pet, you can have a whole host of supporting characters which are items, other pets, etc, if you wish!

This seems super interesting! But also I think there's a typo since we are not time traveling back to January 2022 I hope? I'd like to start the 2023 year on time 😅 (in the writing competition archive)

Im holding on hope that time travel will be invented in the next several months (thanks for the catch Ill fix it now!)

One thing I realised is that different word counters and different applications count words differently sometimes signifcantly which is a little confusing. Just to be sure I used the highest one I saw to make sure im not over limit.

The one I always use is showing 742 for your entry so I think you're fine! A few words won't disqualify anyone.

Just submitted my entry and I just have to tell what inspired me to make this. There is a famous rooster called Martti, and he is pretty incompetent at being alive. He is afraid of everything. His owner recently published a book of his adventures and translated to English it's called "Martti is an idiot". So yeah I had to pay him some respect and try to mimic his behaviour with the rooster in my story so yeah not the most common rooster behaviour, but realistic and comical anyway, hope everyone reading enjoys <3

EDIT: I am going to do the celebrating new years party. I will have my pet be the main character but can I use my friend's pets as the pets at the party? I could easily have all side characters be my own pets but I think this Prompt would be fun if the pets at my party are actually my friends. Is that allowed? If you need me to explain more I can. With permission from friends linked at the bottom of my entry of course (already have one willing!).
