Not a problem! December 18th is when old pets get rereleased. You can get many kinds of old pets, usually from 2008-11 or so. Some of them are very valuable! So I recommend waiting until they're fully-grown to know, or asking folks on the designated threads about their values.

i've only experienced 1 dec 18th (been inactive for all of 2019 and 2020) but here's what i remember:
you get 2 (i think?) random rare pets from previous years, which is why sometimes you'll see, for example, what looks like a 2008 very rare, that was actually adopted in 2015.
i remember i got one very rare pet and one rare pet. there's a chance you can get an "unreleased" pet too, which i don't fully understand but i think they're added to the pool of rare pets to get

Last year we got 1 Very Rare+ box and 2 Rare boxes but it varies year to year! Each box has a chance of dropping the new UR pet as well.

EDIT: some people will adopt from the boxes "off account" which means the pets are not added to an account. You can adopt over and over that way but they are not your pets to keep on your account. You can save the links to those pets to admire them but that's about it.

Did you pull more off account pets this year? I saw some users getting multiple URs which I know can happen but this year felt funky in rates.
