Items do not have their own landing page like pets do. There isn't a place to tack on rarity info. So, how would they do it? I would genuinely like to know as I can't picture how ^^;

my idea on if this were to be implemented would be less of a rarity tag, and more of just a date tag and special item tag for trading specifically. example: if you were to add an item let’s say from 2010 into a trade, underneath the item where it would usually have the wishlist star if it is a wishlist item, a small ‘2010’ text tag, or a UR/C$ tag would be helpful. i’m not necessarily thinking rarities in the same way pets have them, but i think some identifiable way to easily see what year the item is, if it’s of some special importance such as a ur and if it was from the store would be a helpful start especially for those not comfortable with item values.

i don't really like rare items, i'd rather have cool pets or a wider variety of items accessible to everyone!! the dress-up is just a bonus thing for me so i don't want to do big expensive trades for a few small items & i think a lot of people feel the same ^_^ <3 the cakes are super cute though

As an avid item collector, finding out UR Items got released filled me with dread honestly. They were a beautiful design, and it's an incredible idea in theory! For me, not having a rarity tag isn't a huge deal to me. Items have never had them, and it's not as if these are the first rare items to ever exist. The value for the cakes was generally settled on after a few months of trade data.

Honestly, the main reason I'm not in support of them is because:

1. The cakes aren't a very high demand item to anyone other than collectors. Despite this, it's still worth a lot all things considered. Can you imagine the worth of an item that actually had high demand like a plush? That would be an absolute nightmare

2. It honestly just makes item collecting harder, it's a cool idea in theory, but items are a lot more versatile than pets are. UR Pets have a lot of their appeal because they're incredible unique in comparison to other pets, like foods, unique linearts, and a higher attention to detail. (Ignoring the obvious, being the exclusivity and rarity). Items have always been able to be anything and everything, with varying levels of detail. So I just really can't see any reason to add in URs other than to throw a curveball at collectors and give others a chance for more rare fodder

Despite this, I am absolutely still in favor of adding items into the advent event as something you can get re-releases of. It's something that's never been explored before, and I had a great time with it last year! Maybe the RRs will bring about some new collectors or introduce some unique dressups that may not have been made otherwise! I'm looking forward to the item regardless of what staff decide on, and thank you for asking us for input!

I wouldn't mind more UR items; I am not particularly interested in items as a whole (yet), but its always exciting to have some chase items, especially if they fit a dress up idea I have. I think it would put a little bit more focus on item trading as a whole as well, as item trading has always been in a weird spot. I do understand the fear of these items becoming hard to obtain if they are more unique than the cakes. However, I have always been of the opinion that rarer pets and items are not a bad thing; if we were all guaranteed to get every pet and item in the game, it would be a little bit boring! "Chase" pets and items keep the game exciting, especially for those that already have reached all of their CS goals. This is of course, my own opinion, and I can respect that others may not feel the same way I do.

I do agree with the common sentiment that there should be a special "tag" or identifier to mark these as special release items, since not everyone is aware of the many items CS has.
I am not very active at the moment due to busy season at work. I may take time to respond to trades/messages.

Personally I care more about collecting rather than gaining pets and items of worth. I like all items and pets but I definitely have favorites. My favorites are worth a lot but I like them for the design, once again not for their worth.
IMO, This would be an awesome chance to gain rarity without trading. For some of the players who haven’t been focused on gathering worth and have been solely focused on collecting, this would help collections out and at the same time, genuinely help build worth since time spent gathering worth to trade or keep, was spent collecting.

Value and worth is essential in any game but releasing things once a year, just amps up the fan base and excites them, I don’t think it really significantly lowers worth since it’s only once a year and it’s a random lottery type prize pool.

I say go for it! I for one, would love to see older items come back to collect and just to have a random chance of getting a “rare” surprise.

it's good for activity since it is sure to get ppl talking about it on the forums. otherwise i find UR items pointless especially with already having to trust forum posts on which items are rare and which are not - in this i come from the pov of trading them away as i'm personally not an item collector. the cakes i also find are not very appealing in terms of being something to fight tooth and nail for, but i did take note of you not having much time to prepare for it.

if i did collect rare items, i'd be most interested in something i can put on my pet so like clothing or anything to make my pet look special.

Personally, I think the option that would cause the least amount of headaches would be to make the item's name a different color that's visible on the archive and trading interface.

There's no need for a ton, maybe just 4 or 5 colors to show a general rarity:

Blue - common
Yellow- uncommon
Red - rare
Black - very rare/OMGSR

Much easier than a ton of tiny bars under items...

Likewise, there could just be an extra letter or two next to an item's name:

White Icing Decoration (C)
Horse Plushie (U)
Pocky (R)
UR Dragon Cake (VR)

I will fully admit I am not an expert on the back end of CS. However, I do know pets and items are added into the archive manually. By our only archivist. If they are entered manually, I'd say it would be safe to assume entries would need to be edited manually. I myself have 11,913 unique items, not doubles in this figure. That would be 11,913 edits. And there are more items than I own. Then there is upkeep, because over time I am sure those items would become more rare. The titles or colors would need to be updated again. Pets get regular rarity updates, but the process is an automatic push. Nothing manual about it.

I am for UR items getting an emoji or color to differentiate it ^^; that is doable to me!

it drives me bonkers as a collector that does not count special releases (pets & items) towards a complete collection to be missing the checkmark on an otherwise completed collection in the archives. kind of a different approach to this issue I'm aware, just for my perfectionist tendencies I'd say no if it shows up like that in the archive. if special releases were not included towards a check mark in the archive, I'd care a lot less, as it's just another special release I'll never be able to afford.

I can't really see how giving items a rarity would work, but would be so nice if they had a date. probably impossible to do as well, I'm aware. just would make trading easier.
