I dont really collect horses and ponies, but I was going to collect those because they were different and now they just blend in with the current ones. A tiny change to the lines could make them completely different so they would stay unique. I dont care that much and its not a huge deal for me except for the zombie ponies, I will miss them.
I keep saying this about the lines... but I think it is probably too late for any changes to be made by now since so many have been done now :(

The artists have put a lot of work trying to make this transition go as quickly as possible and still give beautiful work... but as someone who always liked the horses and ponies as some of my favorite pets I hate to say that it is the fact that there are now fewer unique lines that is making my fondness for them fade. The new lines are beautiful, do not get me wrong... but now with all horses going to the new lines they are becoming 'cookie cutter' pets to my eyes and that is the part that saddens me.

I absolutely adore the way you put that. I think that's been my problem with it this whole time, and even I didn't see it until someone else said it. Changing their lines is making them the same as everything else...Which isn't any fun. I do like the new Draft lines, and some of the new ponies look wicked, horses too. But they're becoming cookie cutters...wow...

Cookie cutter is a good way to put it. I love the current artwork, but it wouldnt even have to be a big change to keep them unique. Just a slight change in the head placement or the legs would make it a completely different style. Just to see the difference without having to know that it used to be different...If that made sense?

I don't understand this cookie cutter argument.
They aren't losing uniqueness, they're becoming organised, just like every other species on CS. We have more horse lines than any other species, I believe, so they aren't cookie cutter at all.

That's the whole argument right there. "They're becoming organised, just like every other species on CS." Organization is handy, but not always nice. Now they're no different than the horses and ponies we'll be adopting in the months to come. If the lines aren't even a tiny bit different, how are they unique anymore?

They are plenty unique. We have drafts, ponies, donkeys, and horses. With the horses we have Arabians, Friesians, and Andalusians. Soon we'll have unicorns, and there will be new lines or edits for the PPS buckskin and rainbow mane.
We have one dog lineart, one cat lineart, and one of everything else, yet you say horses aren't unique. They're the most unique of anything.

Colouration isn't the point. The line styling is. The Donkey's are just ponies now who's ears were edited to be longer. And for the record, there are SIMPLE line edits on the cat's, dog's, owl's, Spider's, Rat's, and whatever else you can think of. More so than I care to name. Colouration changes each and every month. It makes every pet on CS unique in some way. But abolishing a lineart, and transferring the colouration to a cookie cutter image, loses it's uniqueness. BTW Equimagine already made Unicorns. A long time ago. I have two, 2010 Horses and Ponies group.

The dog lines have dogs with both ears up, one up, both ears down, straight tail, curled tail, bob tail, grinning, sad.... the cats have the malk cats, the new cat lines, the warrior cats... what we are saying is that since the change had to be made it would have been nice if there had been a small line edit so that they could have kept their unique feel. Now, they will be like all the others... and while the lines are beautiful... they will have gone from unique to the common line. The designs might be and are unique... but it is the lines we are talking about.

I can understand wanting everything to be nice and unique. However, shouldn't the different designs make them unique enough? I mean, so far, I've liked the re-designed ponies more than most of the new ones. Their designs are just so nice, that's what makes them special? Some of them do have little edits here and there. Just because they don't have 'speshul' lines doesn't mean they're not special in their own way.

Most people don't go around hating on identical twins because they look the same. They may look pretty much the same, but it doesn't mean they're not both unique and different in their own ways. Everything's special in its' own way, unless you take that away from it.

The voting was on the "Global Announcements" section, which is on the top for all the fourms. There's no need to even search for it really. Just look at the top section of whatever fourm tpoic you're at [roleplaying, fourm games, etc.] and it's literally right there. Not every single news should be posted on the front page, even retirements aren't on the front page most of the time, if at all. So something like this would be posted on the fourms instead of the front page, so people can actually reply to it.

It was a vote. Kind of important if you want EVERYONE to vote and, you know, get a good representation of what the site as a whole wants. Some people don't go on the forums at all. I didn't for a long time when I first came here. I check my "view bookmarks" tab when posting in the forums, so I don't see the forum page. Ever.

If what you're saying is right, then they shouldn't have posted "Have you been keeping up with the latest forum announcements?" as news on the front page either. It came off sounding like "Hey, you didn't read the forums, so now you're out of luck on casting your vote!"

If they were instead deciding to move the Warrior Cats designs to the new cat lines because the term "Warrior Cat" could cause the site trouble there are many that would have issues with it and be upset because they love those cats... it is the same thing for us. We loved the unique poses and the individuality that the line art gave them... that it took less than a glance to know they were different.

There are actually 3 linearts for the cats, and at least 2 or 3 for the dogs/wolves, along with many edits to the ears, tail, and sometimes the face for the dogs as well. For the horses there's, well, horses, ponies, donkeys, and the coming soon unicorns [though there have been a couple of unicorns in the past]. Spiders, Rats, and Owls only have one lineart, along with Fish. Dragons have 2 or 3 linearts as well, and bunnies only have one lineart, with edits to the ears [or horns if it's a ram/sheep bunny].

So basicly most pets have at least two linearts except for the Bunnies, Spiders, Rats, Owls, and Fish [which aren't monthly pets anymore] except for a couple of edits here and there to add things, like ram horns, or to change something such as the ears, tail, etc.

I know that the topic of the store items and such made for the old designs was touched on in the other discussion thread (I searched for the subject both here and on that thread), but what I want to know is if they will be updated as well. Especially the black cat costume. I know that costume was removed because there wasn't much interest, but I did pay for it and I had it on one of my ponies. Now it does not fit. I'm a little bummed out about it. :?

I'm a little bummed about the whole affair. I understand all the reasons and I do like Yulynh's lineart, but some of the designs don't seem to be transferring well in my opinion. I haven't been on the forums in late months (I usually only visit when there is an event) so I didn't even get to vote on the matter.

However, back to my original concern, if anyone can let me know what's up I would really appreciate it. Thank you. :)

It is obvious the changes are going through .. period. We might as well accept it. The art theft issue will change all of equimarines horses and ponies regardless of how much we like or don't like them.

But.. they have not finished the lines for the donkeys... PPS pets.. unicorns.. etc. so maybe just maybe we might still have a say in how these pets are redone. Instead of harping on what is already set in stone.. why not have a say in what can still be changed??

Just a thought..

(thats why you see me stuck on the donkeys a bit. I really do not want the ponyish lines and I am fighting it as politely as I can.. it may not do any good.. but I am trying)

@_____ yes it has been said that the items will be updated. Though I have not heard anything specific.

Tess posted about the black cat costume specifically and said it would be updated. :3 Search doesn't work on Global Announcements, so if you tried using the forum search or people's post history to look for posts on the cat costume it wouldn't have shown up.
