I dont really collect horses and ponies, but I was going to collect those because they were different and now they just blend in with the current ones. A tiny change to the lines could make them completely different so they would stay unique. I dont care that much and its not a huge deal for me except for the zombie ponies, I will miss them.
I keep saying this about the lines... but I think it is probably too late for any changes to be made by now since so many have been done now :(

The artists have put a lot of work trying to make this transition go as quickly as possible and still give beautiful work... but as someone who always liked the horses and ponies as some of my favorite pets I hate to say that it is the fact that there are now fewer unique lines that is making my fondness for them fade. The new lines are beautiful, do not get me wrong... but now with all horses going to the new lines they are becoming 'cookie cutter' pets to my eyes and that is the part that saddens me.

I absolutely adore the way you put that. I think that's been my problem with it this whole time, and even I didn't see it until someone else said it. Changing their lines is making them the same as everything else...Which isn't any fun. I do like the new Draft lines, and some of the new ponies look wicked, horses too. But they're becoming cookie cutters...wow...

Couldn't agree more, I do wish that the old ponies and old horses had their own line art to continue being unique, but yes, quite a few designs are completed now D: Such a shame, but I do love loads of the designs they have, I just wish it could be on a different line art

I don't understand this cookie cutter argument.
They aren't losing uniqueness, they're becoming organised, just like every other species on CS. We have more horse lines than any other species, I believe, so they aren't cookie cutter at all.

That's the whole argument right there. "They're becoming organised, just like every other species on CS." Organization is handy, but not always nice. Now they're no different than the horses and ponies we'll be adopting in the months to come. If the lines aren't even a tiny bit different, how are they unique anymore?

Would have been nice to actually have voted on this, but I never saw it or was made aware of it. I don't scour the forums every day for news. You should have posted it on the front page.

The dog lines have dogs with both ears up, one up, both ears down, straight tail, curled tail, bob tail, grinning, sad.... the cats have the malk cats, the new cat lines, the warrior cats... what we are saying is that since the change had to be made it would have been nice if there had been a small line edit so that they could have kept their unique feel. Now, they will be like all the others... and while the lines are beautiful... they will have gone from unique to the common line. The designs might be and are unique... but it is the lines we are talking about.

They are plenty unique. We have drafts, ponies, donkeys, and horses. With the horses we have Arabians, Friesians, and Andalusians. Soon we'll have unicorns, and there will be new lines or edits for the PPS buckskin and rainbow mane.
We have one dog lineart, one cat lineart, and one of everything else, yet you say horses aren't unique. They're the most unique of anything.

By their designs/release dates, maybe?

The voting was on the "Global Announcements" section, which is on the top for all the fourms. There's no need to even search for it really. Just look at the top section of whatever fourm tpoic you're at [roleplaying, fourm games, etc.] and it's literally right there. Not every single news should be posted on the front page, even retirements aren't on the front page most of the time, if at all. So something like this would be posted on the fourms instead of the front page, so people can actually reply to it.

Are you suggesting the donkeys be remade on the PPS lines instead of the pony lines? I think that would make them look like babies, which most aren't. Also, what would happen to the PPS donkeys? They wouldn't be unique anymore, because all donkeys would be PPS. I think, being as donkeys are not ponies, they should have their own lineart. They share some similar traits as ponies but simply slapping on the donkey colors and ears does not make them donkeys. However, they are similar enough that it wouldn't be a tragic thing if they did end up being remade on the newer pony lines rather than having their own. I'd simply like to see them be their own thing. They'd really only be ponies if they're done on the pony lines...kinda like how some cats look like dogs and some dogs look like cats, but they're really just cats colored and edited to be similar to dogs and vise versa. They wouldn't really be donkeys unless they had their own lines. I feel that way about all the unique species.

First off.. thank you for responding. I was curious what the response would be. I suppose I had not thought of them as babies.. just smaller. Also, I did not think that changing the donkeys to PPS would effect the individuality of the donkey PPS we already have being that there are only 5 total Equi donkeys.

I think that technically we are both saying the same thing though. I started with saying that my first choice is for the donkeys to get their own lineart.. and I still feel that way. However, it does not look like that will happen. If you read the first post of this thread, Tess most likely with have the donkeys changed to Yul's pony-ish donkey lineart. I suppose I am willing to do anything to keep this from happening. Any lineart but the ponyish one. That would ruin the individuality of the donkeys and in my opinion they would not really look much like donkeys.. more like mules. No offense to Yul.. I figured the PPS lineart would be a compromise. The artists do not have to do any more work because the lineart already exists.

Anyways... I hope I explained that okay as it is very late here and I am tired. again.. thanks for the response...

I don't mean to disrespect any of the artists, because I love all the line arts, but I did really enjoy the variety of line arts. Now we are down to one horse type, and one pony type. And the equines are my favorites. I think they need more variety, not less, if they want to keep the fan's interest peaked. It's not all about color.

Regardless of preference, the Equimagine lines were traced/stolen-- it's already been confirmed by fellow users, image-matchups, and staff including Tess herself. ( with all respect to Equimagine, because I don't think it was done with bad intentions. )
We have to face that fact and remove the '
illegal' items. Personally, I think this solution should be appreciated. They could have just removed the old pets all-together. Instead, they're putting lots of time and work into transferring them so that we can keep a piece of them. Heck, they're even making some new lines for discontinued breeds as well as special pets of continued breeds.

They're not going to be the same, but some will be better, and if nothing else
at least we will have a piece of them.. we could have lost them completely.

on the other hand-- I'll confess that it would be nice for them to have some slight differentiation from all the others to show that they're unique, for those that won't get special lines....
considering that they changes have already been initiated, however, I wouldn't expect that nor complain about lack of it. x:
I suppose they could always add a special signature/symbol in the corner or something. That wouldn't take too much extra work.
