i just wanna say aurora, your thread has helped me find the worth of my plains zebra and i just wanna thank you for that! so much i so long ive been so confused on its worth, but despite its "bad" demand its slowly gaining popularity again, and its one of the most valuable pets in the game ive heard too

It absolutely is one of the most valuable pets in the game! Back in 2009 their rarity was 1 for every 40,000 players (although that may have changed). I was so sad to come back after a few years to see their demand so low, they used to go for Sunjewels+.

I do hope their value increases again, they along with some Nick pets and basically every rat ever, are painfully undervalued. I'm glad this thread helped you! ^^

I initially thought they were the rarest pets on site, but it puzzles me that the Mountain Zebra has fluctuated in between VR and OMGSR multiple times while the other two zebras have not changed from OMGSR since their release. I wonder why this is? That being said, I always thought the intention was for the zebras to be THE rarest pets, so I could never understand why people didn't want them.

I initially thought they were the rarest pets on site, but it puzzles me that the Mountain Zebra has fluctuated in between VR and OMGSR multiple times while the other two zebras have not changed from OMGSR since their release. Apparently something happened with the algorithm of their release (I wanna say in 2010??) that resulted in more being released than there should've been and that's what caused the Mountains Zebra to drop.

It is possible that they could be less rare than some other OMGSR's at this point though, but not common enough to drop down to VR. Since they are released every month I guess it could make sense they'd become more common than URs over time? But I feel like that would take years to have any major effect on their comparable value.

OH, I remember that! I think it was bumped to like 7%. I ended up adopting one myself xD That makes perfect sense then.

I'm glad you find it helpful! I was inactive when that update happened, but from what I can gather it's purpose was to spread the rarities out as too many were uncommon. Although I can imagine it would've been frustrating having a pet drop that much!

i remember there being an event ages ago (i want to say 2013) when they were released as part of a very small % chance when adopting horses - i dont remember if that was an ongoing thing or a one-off?

There's a very small chance of adopting one every time you adopt the monthly horses/ponies, I'm not sure if it's the same for events though.
