DS Entry #2

Postby DangerSnek » Tue Sep 28, 2021 5:08 pm

Genotype: aca Bb1 Cca DD DmDm Ee hh ii krkpb mm pp RR Sis tt UU
Phenotype: Irish White Brindle Marbled Tabby Blue-Eyed Nickel

I think I did this right? The Brindle might've messed me up a bit, but I saw on the guide that it only appears on red markings - this dude doesn't have any, so hopefully I'm not as dumb as I think I am lol-

Heya! Sorry for the confusion on brindle- The "red" referred to in the guide for brindle means pheomelanin. Brindle appears on any pheomelanin in a fox's coat, regardless of how intense/saturated the pheomelanin is- so the light grey in this design would be brindled with it's base color, as it is desaturated pheomelanin.

A good example of desaturated brindle are silver brindle akita inu dogs! When compared to a saturated red brindle, you can see that despite the pheomelanin being diluted to grey/white, it is still brindled.
