Dottaru Variants
There are 3 main Dottaru variants that can be found on Coralora Isle: River, Sea, and Giant. Each come with there own set of required traits to be considered that variant. The variants differ from each other in ways other then physical too, be sure to read about their other information also!
River Variant
The River Dottaru is the smallest of the three Dottaru variants, typically reaching lengths of 1-2 feet. It thrives in freshwater environments such as rivers, streams, and tributaries. These habitats often have dynamic conditions, including fluctuating water levels and varying flow rates, which the River Dottaru is well-adapted to handle. Its diet mainly consists of aquatic insects, small fish, and plant material found in these freshwater settings. This variant has evolved to possess streamlined bodies for efficient swimming against currents and specialized gills to maximize oxygen extraction in often turbulent waters. Additionally, the River Dottaru is the friendliest of the three variants. The River Dottaru will always carry a River Stone in its pouch that is responsible for harnessing and controlling their magic abilities.
Sea Variant
The Sea Dottaru, medium-sized compared to the River and Giant variants, typically measures between 2-4 feet in length. It inhabits saltwater environments, including coastal areas, open seas, and coral reefs. Adaptations to marine life include specialized glands for osmoregulation, allowing it to maintain internal salt balance despite the high salinity of its surroundings. Its diet is diverse, consisting of crustaceans, mollusks, and smaller fish. The Sea Dottaru also has a more robust and flexible body structure to withstand the pressures and currents of the ocean. This variant is known for its migratory behavior, traveling long distances for breeding and feeding, demonstrating a high level of adaptability to different marine conditions. The Sea Dottaru will always carry a Shell in its pouch that is responsible for harnessing and controlling their magic abilities.
Giant Variant
The Giant Dottaru is the largest of the three variants, often exceeding 6 feet in length and sometimes reaching up to 10 feet. It is found in large freshwater bodies such as lakes and occasionally in brackish waters of estuaries where freshwater meets the sea. This variant is known for its significant size and strength, which allow it to prey on a wide range of organisms, including large fish, amphibians, and occasionally small mammals that come near the waterโs edge. The Giant Dottaru has developed robust musculature and a powerful jaw structure to handle larger prey. It also possesses physiological adaptations to tolerate variations in salinity and temperature, which are common in estuarine environments. The Giant Dottaruโs ability to thrive in both freshwater and brackish environments showcases its evolutionary versatility, making it a formidable presence in its habitat. Its life cycle includes long periods of growth and development, with individuals often living several decades, contributing to their size and dominance in their ecosystems. The Giant Dottaru will always carry a Wishbone in its pouch that is responsible for harnessing and controlling their magic abilities.
