Actually he is caring for his human and listens well to commands from the rider. If you still have a problem with him, try it with kiwis or oranges. He loves those fruites like they are everything his life consists of. Depending on his mood, he allows little children around him, but he sometimes gets annoyed by their noises, because he can't stand shrieking, yes, he hates pigs, too.
Abhay is great with other horses, dogs and cats and very social to them. Two of the barn cats are sleeping in his stable and the grooms do think that he likes the purring of them. Abhay is excellent under saddle and he loves to run. As soon as he feels the tack, he knows that the audience is waiting for him. He loves to get attention and he stays calm when his rider is full of adrenalin. At the end of the jousting tournament show, he is most likely the one to be mounted by the "won princess". Abhay can be easily handled by women, too.

HistoryAbhay was born for the show circuit. As a foal he always pranced around in front of his mother, trying to get her attention, same with his breeders and early handlers. He never hurt a fly, but for sure he would be a nice and brave mount in his later life.
When he went two years old a man, from a famous medieval tournament show, visited Abhay's breeder. He showed many horses to that man, but he always turned down his offers, till they came to Abhay. He rounded his neck and held his tail like a flag in the wind. The show man wanted to buy Abhay, but his breeder shook his head. They had an argument before Abhay's breeder finally agreed to sell him. His original intention was to keep Abhay as a stud, but maybe he would do better as a show horse.
The horses at the show were professionally trained, trained like their ancestors thousands of years before them. Abhay had talent as jousting horse, but when he began his career, he only had some less important appearances. His big chance came up to him when the most important horse, the mount of the "golden knight", was injured badly during the transport. Abhay took over the role and awaited the show with excitement. He was great and granted the "golden knight" success over all challengers. The "princess" came to Abhay and kissed his snout before the knight pulled her carefully onto his horse and made his victory lap. From that day on, Abhay was mounted by the golden knight for every single show, always brave, always concentrated and always amazed by the audience.
But it was fate. It was the final show before they would have the winter break. Abhay was a bit tired of the stressful journeys he had, and his rider, the "golden knight" or Andrew as his name was, also focused on the deserved break. Still they were good and only lost once that day, out of five rides. The sixth one would be the last, but the rider was new to the team and got the instruction to fall off, because he wasn't that good yet. Andrew and Abhay started, their challengers did it too, but when they met in the middle, the new challenger didn't fell, but hit his lance, accidently against Abhay's chest. The lance broke when it hit the breastplate, but Abhay was in pain and fell himself. Andrew landed safely, luckily not injured himself. Abhay got up again and his rider managed to calm him down. The immediatly called vet couldn't find any injuries, but Abhay wasn't physically hurt. The stallion was hurt mentally. In the next months he refused to go near the training equipment and he refused to wear the show-tack - making him unavailable for the start of the new show year. Andrew, the "golden knight" had to mount another horse, but that coulnd't replace Abhay.
The young woman who played the "princess" in the show, known as Valerie, started to work with Abhay. She was the trainer for the young horses and had some experience with scared ones as well. It was a slow process and it took Valerie almost one year to make Abhay trust again, but he finally allowed the hole show around him again. Andrew could start the training with the lance and succesfully got his champion back.
Abhay is still a well known horse actor in the show, and loved by the team and the audience. If he isn't the winner, he is a fair defeated one and he is never disappointed by his performance. He is a proud stallion, a good one.
